We need to be in prayer for coach Mike Lunsford and his family. His house burned to the ground last night. No one was hurt but this is terrible around Christmas time
I was just coming to post about this...This is horrible and what a time for it to happen. Our prayers and support for Mike and the family

Oh I completely agree,The QB was the difference maker along with timely mistakes by Hampton and a little bad play calling. No other team in the West had that caliber of QB.It would have been a 4 quarter slugfest with any other team in my opinion.
I think we don't make the mistakes, it's a better ballgame... Was still a blast to be there!

See, that's the funny thing to me... It's always outsiders that try to put the crown on Huntingdon mid-season. Then when Huntingdon fans post in support of their team, certain ones (usually the same ones) never fail to start chest thumping about how all Huntingdon fans said this team was world beaters. Not a single Huntingdon fan all year said we were the favorites to come out of the West.
You're right Roy. We DID get beat in the 2nd round. We played Memphis' All-Star team with 30+ seniors and got beat. The point was never that Huntingdon would win the state title. No one from Huntingdon has said that. The point is that there were 3 other good teams in the West that all could have won the state title had they been in Westview's place. In my completely subjective opinion, the Gold ball was coming back to the West regardless of who Hampton was up against. Folks can agree or disagree all they want.
The West did not have another 2A team with the QB and receivers WV possessed. BUT, had we made the same mistakes against any other team in the state game, we would've likely lost. To act as if Hampton was an inferior team is laughable at best

That was my point the other day when they said HT would beat Hampton. How can you say that when you cant get to the finals. We heard it for 4 years straight how good HT was and they got beat by Cornersville and so on and on.You cant beat Hampton if you cant make it.So how can you compare yourself.SMH!
Pal, we are so used to being dogged by the west and even teams west of us Lol. They come out of the woodwork everytime we have a lil success in any sport

Just being honest here , Hampton would be a 4th seed in Region 7-2A behind
1 -Martin Westview Chargers
2- Huntingdon Mustangs
3- Union City Tornadoes
4- Hampton Bulldogs
Probably true, but we hear the same crap concerning basketball Lol.

And it ain’t like they would have won the gold ball if Martin wasn’t in 2a. There was at least three other 2a schools from the west that would have beaten them by 3 or 4 tds. Those 3 schools should be the ones mad and they haven’t said anything.
Get back in your stall. Have to call Butchie out of retirement to break you again?

Sure don't look like it.
Concerns I'm hearing, I'm hearing from 2A schools in the west. Nobody around here, especially if they're not a 2A program, has a clue what they're talking about.
Salem pretty much cleared it up Lol

Very impressive. Purest form of the game. That's what I love about HS and college ball.
Well, there's a few on this thread now impressed with anything Hampton. We'll lose a lot of sleep over that too LOL! I feel like you do about it! It's fun to watch IMO.

Think it was a unintended compliment, sorta shows we get more out of less than about anyone. I also like DB but not so crazy about this feller. I stated the FACT that we didn't go full bore to beat them, not sure we would have had a chance even if we had, truth remains.
Yea, hated I even replied about the crap...Waste of my time and tried to edit...Wasn't fast enuf LOL

Yeah I think they had 30 seniors and 17 of them were transfers. There is a System for winning and it usually comes down to how many impact players you can get from other schools.
Edit...

Losing 110 kids from one classification period to another ,at that rate they'll be 1a the next period.
I've been waiting on ya.

Congrats to Westview on the win and Hampton on the silver. Really enjoyed listening to the game on the radio. Pretty impressive the QB for Hampton never left the field. True iron man football!
Well, he wasn't in on every kickoff Lol. As impressive, IMO, are our linemen that are in on about every O & D play. Moving 300, 350, 370 lb every play has to be a darn chore.

Hats off to the QB for Hampton. That kid is a baller. Tough, smart, patient runner. Could sling it if needed. And came up hard and made perfect tackles on defense. Not to mention his demeanor and body language were impressive.

55 minutes ago, FBI said:Is the Hampton QB getting any looks from any D1-AA (FCS) schools as a DB or maybe WR? He's a FOOTBALL PLAYER!
I'll pass along you men's compliments. Not a lot of show/flare in this young man, just grit and love for the game. Up here, you don't get many college looks especially with the canceled games we had this season. We ran a run heavy O with 3-4 different rushers, so his numbers were good but weren't off the charts. His brother Coby, from the '15 semifinals team, plays college ball but not sure that's the desire of Conor. Hope he wants to go to work for his old man

Hey we just read the roster the visitors provide lol
I'm not surprised one bit...The TSSAA had Conor's name and others misspelled and had people listed as starters that had quit a ways back. Fact checking isn't our strong suite Lol

Shoot we may pass to set up the run, would be a 1st but that may be our strength. Sounds crazy.
I think #9 will be able to tote the rock just fine to open up the passing game...He'll just have more carries per game than we've seen a single back have in a couple years. #15 could be a game changer out of the backfield too. Don't think we'll see us passing 30 times a game but #18 will need to have a major impact. There's a lot to look forward to IF they put in the work and put on size and IF they learned from the examples of the crew going out

Got a ton of bodies to replace, be interesting to see what we can accomplish next season.
Yes, a lot to replace and develop. Still have some strength on the line and blocking. I think secondary can be stronger and next QB is a player. May not have the power run, busting thru multi players and drag people along, but he's an athlete with speed a very good arm. It'll all come down to leadership

He has been fun to watch

The thing I love about us is ,we usually get the most outta what we got, this is small town rural football at its finest, rarely do we ever have a kid that can play at the college level but they work their rears off, coaches and players.
Few fans of other teams even understand that...And dang! Did Crumley lay some blocks Saturday!

Think we threw 2 a piece, one was not on the QB, hit the receiver in the hands and got away..
Yep that's right

the turnover was crucial but the final nails were getting no points end of 1st half then getting apick and throwing 2 straight picks. its the game. stuff happens. doesn't negate Hampton's season at all. You lose 100-0 or 1-0 its a loss and it sucks.
Not in our eyes either...Did we throw more than one pic? I knew Simpson threw two...Wish it had been 5 LOL

The door for the Clay's and Hampton's to get there is and has been open for a few years. The last few years have not been like '14, '15, and '16 was with MM caliber teams in the way.
