I agree with you BBALL that the ONLY person who is going to get you a scholarship is yourself!! Others might help get a foot in the door but when all is said and done it comes down to one person. Sometimes it is being in the right place at the right time, being seen by the right people. But no matter what, you got to bring your game or watch from the sidelines.

Sounds like she is a great coach and I know she is getting a great bunch of girls. I wish them success!

IMO it was the lady ref that was terrible for the girls games. She didn't see anything on either side of the court and when she did it was way off the scale.

Thought Boone was going to pull the upset tonight against TH. Anyone with predictions of who will be in the championship game? SH vs DB perhaps? I'm not making any bets on this years finals as crazy as the season has been anything is possible. South had a few turnovers in the final few minutes that gave the Cougars the spark they needed last night. South will be losing some very fine young ladies to graduation who will be missed. Kim Johnson and Tyria Hutchins have had great careers for the lady rebels on the basketball court but also on the volleyball court. We wish you the best of luck in the future!

I agree with you pancon. I think it was the best decision for you and with some good coaching I don't doubt she will be getting alot of playing time. Hang tough!

You all talk like South is the only team out there without a good coach. Fact is there are several in the Big 8 that could use a fresh face. The only teams that seem to have a coach that wants to win and knows how to win are TH, DB, and SH. They seem to pick a coach because he can coach and not just because thats all they got. The county schools are just that, county. They use what they got and try to make the best of it. Why do you think these kids keep leaving the county and go to the city schools. Have you ever looked around at the roster on the city schools and realized how many of those are really county kids. It is shocking! The county schools are fortunate to have coaches and sometimes you have to make due with what you have. I am sure for the most part all these coaches care about their players and perhaps they don't see the damage they are causing those athletes that want to go on to college. Parents need to look early on if they want their kids to just play ball or do they want that kid to play at the next level. If at the next level you need to pick your school wisely.

Congrats to the Lady Indians on your win over TH last night. I believe someone said they didn't see TH losing another game. Guess they wasn't expecting the tribe to roll. TH should look more to the shooting role of the Easterling girl.

Defense poy should go to Fletcher of South or Mitchell of TH. Tough toss between the two! Mitchell with the slight edge.

Way to go Rebels! Just goes to show you noone can let their guard down. There is no team in the Big 8 that can't be beat and the top four are pretty much even depending on which team shows up to play.

Maybe Science Hill was a little intimidated by the size of DB. After all they do look like giants compared to the rest of the conference. Most of the other teams are lucky to have one girl 6 foot but to have 3 that you can start. No way should they lose a game! Keep in mind there is a difference between freshman and say juniors as far as their level of play. Science Hill will be hard to handle next year.

Well put crawdad! These kids have little time to prove their worth on the court and for those wanting to continue playing on the next level they need the coaches to give their all right along with the players.

Wow! Big win for the Lady Rebels. They needed this win in a bad way. Not sure why DB had Julie on the bench but Gray and Devine usually do a great job inside. Julie has seemed to struggle a bit this year. I guess I was expecting alot more on the offensive side from her than we have seen so far. Glad South didn't wait till Districts to prove they are still in this thing! Go Lady Rebels.....

I feel your pain compusatman! It is frustrating to sit in the stands knowing that the potential is there but the coach can't figure a way to bring it out. These schools need to look at these programs and figure out if they want a competitive athletic program or a booster league. These girls want to win and are very capable of winning if given the training they deserve. South is fired up over every other sport, why not girls basketball? Come on coaches, teach the kids what they need to be competitive in the sport they love. So much talent and size at South, shame to see it wasted....But unfortunately South is not the only school in the Big 8 with the problem

Science Hill shot the heck out of it last night but lets face it with Central's defense a middle school team could have dropped 40 points on them. Sad...sad...sad. Science Hill is the youngest in the Big 8 but you would never know it with their performance so far. Great coaching. Tenn High is another example of a very well coached team. That team will kill you with their defense. They put a much larger South team in their place this week. DB needs to learn Devine can't do it all. The Big 8 is still up for grabs. NOONE is a stand out this year!

Has anyone heard for sure if Sidney has torn her acl? Really hope not, our prayers are with her.

Hate to say it but for some reason girls always seem to create drama more so than boys. I doubt there is a team in the Big 8 that doesn't have drama in some form. Yes there may be some teams with more than one drama queen but some how these girls (AND PARENTS) need to set drama to the side and play ball. Winning is hard enough, but especially hard when you play individual ball.

Any takers on the Science Hill and DB game? Science Hill has them beat on the outside but DB has them beat on the inside. All the ingredients for a great game. Can't wait.....

I agree, the title is there for the taking. There are no standouts and I say whoever comes out on top will be a toss up. I disagree that DB looks like the team to beat. Seen them play and for the size they have I was not that impressed. But I was impressed with H. Gray. For a kid that barely seen the floor last year she is smoking this year. Great job Hilary!

I would say the game to be at will be Science Hill and Tenn. High. This should be a great match-up. Anybody want to say who they favor?

Jacqueline Kestner and Makensey Campbell went head to head. What a performance from these two young ladies. Kestner had 30 points and Campbell had 26. Both did an outstanding job! Central took the win 80-60.
