  1. I've lived here for years and could care less the naming rights of roads.

Your guy said the words and it is in print - I guess there needs to be better communication on what "dirty" means - ask a person in East TN, west TN or south TN and the comments seem to slant to #3. It is what it is.

The reason why I didn't go to the game was LOCATION - your place. Your people complain they have no money but you have the only indoor facility for football in high school in middle TN. Before you go off on who funded the facility, I know that story first hand and have talked to the father/son who loaned the money for it - good for you. I try not to support your school for the reason that you and others at Oakland ooze out of your pores - an attitude that you are somehow better than me and you tend to look down your upturned nose at us. I agree we also have that lofted status thing at our school but your not talking to someone that feels they are above you.

As for your last post - our team wouldn't play timid the second time - but again, your team would take over and dominate the second half. I look forward to the basketball matchups and the banter that, no doubt, will be on the boards. And then we have baseball after that...

Well...let's see...basketball. Last year Oakland was picked to finish 5th and the talented Siegel was picked to win. Hmmm...we all know how thst went. And, yes, I absolutely can't wait for baseball to get here.

Longgone...seriously...you have some issues to deal with. I'm available for counseling and maybe we can get you to put a positive attitude out there. Otherwise, I don't see a bright future. :roflol:

  2. OK, enough said - nope, I just read the DNJ article about the game. This discussion can be summed up in paragraph 5 on page two. Your admin sure can stop the chants/t-shirts but again, can't control their own. I'd rather loose playing fair than "being the dirtier team". Good thing? Bad name in the region? How will folks across the state react when one of the top teams admits to dirty play in a newspaper! Wait for it - here comes the damage control!!! 1) "Siegel was dirty first", 2) Them shirts did it", 3) "We owe it to them 'cause they's arrogant/rich/pompous", 4) "Its a rival school and it's OK"... shall I go on? Glad your proud of your team. Where are all the others that said they would call this out? "Oh Andy, this is BIG"...

What's with all the incorrect noun/verb agreement and misplaced pronouns? Are you trying to caricature Oakland supporters with your poor attempt at humor? All it does is cement the fact that Siegelites think they're the "educated" ones, and that Oakland isn't.

Your comment about Dejarnette is ridiculous...it doesn't warrant a response.

Here's my take on Siegel: I moved into this community 7 years ago...about the time Siegel was opened. I was totally aloof regarding what was going on when the school opened...principal left the school, took faculty with him, band director took instruments, and so on. I really didn't know what it all meant because I wasn't familiar with the schools here. What I learned quickly, though, was that people thought Siegel would be a place where everything was new, and that everything would be great regarding athletics and academics.

However, when Oakland acquired the IB program, we "one-upped" Siegel and had something that we could be proud of. Then, throw in some football victories (a state championship), several basketball victories (a district 7AAA title), and the best baseball program in District 7AAA, and you quickly get a legitimate school that survived the "rape" that occured when the school board opened Siegel. Siegel people didn't like that the school they'd left was now more successful than the school they'd stood in line for so long to register for (even if it meant getting a utility bill from the Paddock Club across the street).

So, yes, Oakland is proud that it survived and has exceeded expectations. So, when your kids make a t-shirt that says our kids are a joke, I have to take issue (especially when I'm aware of some of the extracurricular activities that the t-shirt inventor has taken part in). What do immature HS kids do when they're verbally attacked like that...they respond in like fashion. Doesn't make it right, but someone HAS to stop it on their end. I'll do my part...what about you?

  3. You are the poster child for why I heckle the Pattys - you just don't get it do you. Powder on the floor - not just a little on one side but a full cloud that covered the gym and required the game to be delayed 20+ minutes - technical foul not called. Have you ever been in physics class? What happens to a hardwood floor when you put a layer of powder on it? Slick surface - same effect as a bowler putting talc on their shoes - used to make the player slide. Since basketball players need traction, this could cause knee and ankle issues for both teams. As for the T-shirts, I too heard this and have been told of what it will say - nothing classless about it and I'll be checking what my kids will be wearing. Only problem is Oakland wannabee's didn't think of it first so of course it is classless. Boo hoo...

Sounds to me like you're chapped! Baby powder will fix that for ya!

Your pompous, entitled attitude is why people in this town dislike Siegel so much. Oakland has healthy competition against the other schools in this county because it's friendly NONPERSONAL jabbing. But your Siegel children act like they're entitled and immune to do whatever they want to do.

If you think the t-shirts aren't classless, then I can't wait to hear your reaction to the ones Oakland will create in response. The only difference is, ours won't list individuals...your kids have no sense of where the line is drawn. And, by the way, no one asked permission to use those names, either. Could get interesting.

By the way, as I write this, Oakland is beating the crap out of your kid's team. Siegel's football team is really, really bad.

  4. Not bitter at all - just love to heckle the chosen ones - or so you think. As for Oakburg - is that any better than the seagulls? Nope, but you'll call down a Siegel fan instead of one of your own. Thats why we all love to dog you Patty's - it's OK for us (Oakland) to do wrong but don't let us catch you. Agree to get back on the topic - what was it anyway? Oh yeah - I'll always pull for Siegel but you all have too many horses. We'll hang with you until your studs wear us down in the 3rd quarter. After that - Katty bar the door! Good luck and I hope no one is hurt on either side. I hope we can give you a game.

You're postings have been quite amusing Longgone. Apparently, the baby powder incident was just too much for you to handle. I thought it was priceless, and so what if it got on the floor. Clean it up and move on. From what I'm hearing right now, there's going to be a pretty classless t-shirt appearing tomorrow night at the football game...a poor attempt at humor from some Siegel students that may, in the end, have them crying instead of laughing.

    Oakland 49 - Siegel 0

  5. I agree with you Go Packers, obviously Siegel is an Elite team since they are one of the final 8 teams left in the state. I heard that Melrose was O.K, and very poorly coached, but who knows???

So what your saying is that their poorly coach yet wins the Arby's Classic. Then destroys everybody in Regionals and even Sectionals then makes it to state. If thats poorly coached. I want to see a team thats good coached. Talking about the #1 team in the nation and could beat almost every team in college and possibly the NBA.

siegel didnt win the arby's classic.

  6. wanna know why siegel has made it to state? they have more athleticism than any team they played so far. in region they were bigger, faster, and stronger than BOTH teams they played. the ooltewah team they played in substate looked like a jv team compared to them. and im not knocking ooltewah. siegel is that athletic. they should have lost 1 maybe 2 games this year.i want the one team from the boro to win. but when they're matched up with a team thats as athletic, or in melrose's case more athletic. no chance. say im knocking them i dont care. go to the game tomorrow and tell me who was right.

  7. i'm not even a melrose fan, but siegel wont compete. how do you expect a siegel team that had trouble in their own district to beat a team from memphis. oakland was far less talented and beat them not once. not twice. three times. maybe if they had some good coaching they could play with the big boys. all its gonna take is melrose to get a lead and siegel will crack. dont play as a team. hammonds is soft. gooch is awful with the ball. williams is 6'9 but plays like he's 6'5. im a boro guy would love to see a rutherford co. team win. sorry siegel. melrose by 20+

  8. I really see CAK becoming a power in whatever division they are in (Division 2 I think) for many years to come. Maybe not this year, but under Coach Pharr's watch I think they have the talent and coaching to be one of the top small school powerhouses in the state. All they need now is a new field that doesn't have the dimensions of a girl's softball field and they'll be set.

Farragut doesnt have a big field either buddy. 320 in right center and 310 down the lines? hate to pitch against guys like delmonico on a field that small.

A summer 2011 team that is loaded with tallent is the Murfreesboro Diamond Dawgs. Lineup :

Griffin Moore, Chase Fann, Micah Hull, Stevie Smith, Alex Vohndolen, Zander Weil, Dylan Toscano, Jake Todd, Jake Little, Austin Coley, Tyler Fullerton, Mookie Betts, and some others that I've left out. Go see one of their games if you want to see middle TN's finest. Good group of young men - many are being recruited by D1 schools.

Where do Moore, Hull, and Coley play. I know all the rest and they are are very good players.

Moore - Oakland, pitcher/1B/OF. Pitched in District games last year as Soph

Hull - Oakland, OF/2B. Good 2 strike hitter.

    Coley - Siegel, Pitcher. Deceptive.

Not all are D1 - you can be the judge but all should play some sort of college ball somewhere. They usually play late summer and fall together as most are tied down to their school teams in the summer. Bummer! :|

I'd say at least 10 of those kids will play D1 ball. I know some of them are getting looks from big time schools
