  1. Looks like the ole Cats have got back rolling again! Speaking of lunch--could I offer you some crow?

Lets wait and see if we make it through the district tournament before you cook me up any crow. I don't think I would call beating 3 average district teams "Rolling". If those other district teams can do anything in the region tournament, then it might mean a little more.

  2. Livingston's hot shooting sends Upperman home with a loss. Other than the sloppy defense, it was a great game by LA. Upperman was hot from 3-point range, but wasn't enough to overcome the Wildcats.

  3. Got your wish! YOU ARE WRONG!!!! Guess Mcwilliams's "fundamental discipline" didn't work too well against Smith Co and LA's "street ball" wore down Cannon! Good job LA :thumb:

?? You lost me. My prediction could still end being how this district ends. I stated that Upperman would have Livingston for lunch from now on. Still not been proved wrong on that. I then went on to say that LA's style of play could cause us to end up finishing 3rd, which is still a possibility. Are you just trigger happy from all the adrenaline from tonight's game?? Feel free to tell me that I am wrong at the end of the season though if I am, since your so psyched up about it.

  4. Updating my prediction:

    1. Upperman (10-0)

    2. Cannon Co. (6-4)

    3. Livingston (6-4)

    4. Smith Co. (5-5)

    5. Dekalb Co. (3-7)

    6. York (0-10)

I am giving Livingston the benefit of doubt here hoping that they don't blow a game against Dekalb or York and that they split with Cannon Co. I am giving Cannon 2nd on the prediction of point spread after a split with Livingston, but these two games could go either way.

  5. That statement is not very fair. In a broad sense, you may think you know what you are talking about. Any board or director that don't care about kids is in the wrong line of, for lack of a better word, work. Speaking individually about the board "not caring about the students" is not a fair assessment. That hits a lot closer to home for some than it does for others.

I agree, that would mean they are in the wrong line of work. Which makes it odd when board members vote to renew/extend contracts for people such as the Overton County director. You are right that all the board members probably aren't as bad as some of the others. However, it just takes a few bad apples to ruin the bunch. If the other board members didn't want the same type of reputation, they should be more vocal about where they stand and the actions of their other board members. If one board member knew that another member wasn't in it for the kids, yet he done nothing to inform the community about that 'bad' member, he is just as guilty as the one that doesn't care about the kids... In my opinion

*back to the game though.. Congrats to Smith Co. and their coach. The team outworked LA's team and their coach outcoached LA's coach...They earned/deserved the victory.

  6. Things continue to go down hill for the Wildcats. Livingston seemed to have no game plan or logic in the game tonight. Coach Miller doesn't yet seem to know what his best combinations are for various game situations. He kept K. Melton in the game early with too many fouls which allowed him to foul out way too early. At one point in the 3rd quarter his 5 players on the floor were Huitt, Reeder, Melton, Beaty, & Mccoin. It was a very odd combination for the match-ups that were on the floor at that time. Livingston was out of control and very undisciplined during most of the game. Seems like LA was just trying to play most of its players just to say that they were in the game..? I would say that Coach Miller has lost control of his team, but then again, I am not sure that he ever had it. Livingston beat Smith County by 17 earlier in the season.

Smith County isn't the only team in our district saying 'Thank You' to the Overton County School Board right now.

Coach Miller's district record is currently at 2-2.

Coach Melton's district record was 68-3.

As bad as it hurts me, we are getting what we deserve.

*Congrats to Smith Co on an excellent game. That one kid was on fire! Good luck the rest of the way.

  7. I didn't know the school board and the director hired the ex coach. I thought his uncle did. And anybody that thinks none of these posts were written BY the ex coach and his family are just goofballs. As far as other district teams, there are a lot of powerhouse programs he could go to and come back and kick LA right in the mouth. Yeah right.

Yet another username Rabbit? Anyone who thinks that these are his family members on here must not know the whole story. Two years from now when the LA program is back to nothing, what kind of excuse will you come up with to say that it isn't because they are missing Melton?

  8. Ya'll can say what you want to about Melton but by God he was a good coach and his teams were tough to beat. There is nothing about him that says quit, i am not a personal friend of his, we don't hang out or anything like that, i've just seen his teams in action and they would run you out of the gym if you were not on your game. He did not quit, he got railroaded and all of us out here that aren't friends with the new coach and his "family" can see it for what it is. LA is not and will never again be the force that he made them! A good coach is worth his weight in gold and he is/was a good one! Upperman proved my theory right. LA has more talent than anyone and McWilliams beat them badly with solid, fundemental coaching. LA's boys want to win just as bad as any of the teams do, so what was the reason they always won? Talent played a part but LA's boys are loaded with talent again this year, no that wasn't it it was the COACH! Rabbit you get on here and call me names all the time which just shows your imatureaty and ignorance, but thats beside the point you have no clue why the boys have been successful if you say that it wasn't because of Richard Melton. He didn't quit, he was forced out by '"LITTLE JOHNNY'S DADDY SO LITTLE JOHNNY COULD BE THE COACH" plain and simple. And LA deserves everything they get from here on out!!! GO BEES!!!

Excellent post. I wouldn't let Rabbit bother you too much. Funny how she accuses anyone who recognizes good coaching of just being related to the excoach.

  9. Hope you answer these questions Play4Fun. Looking forward to seeing the answers! :popcorneater:

That is kinda a trick question. Other than the broken radio, there was no situation to be handled. The school board knew that the big loss against Jackson Co. would produce enough negativity in the fan base to do what they have been wanting to do for years. There was nothing more to it than that. Let it go and move on.

  10. I don't believe I've said we don't have problems at LA. We had problems prior to the coaching change, and yes, we still have problems. I was responding to an idiot 'midtnsportsfan' that has no connection to the LA program. I also realize you're not just any ordinary LA fan, but also a member of the excoach's family.

Sorry, but I am not related to any of the excoaches. I do know the excoach, but what does that have to do with my thoughts or your ignorance? I don't know who midtnsportsfan is, so I don't know how much he knows about the program. I agree with you though that Livingston has problems. I also agree with 'Sweetwater', that LA's biggest problem is that Administration/school board want to run the sports programs...

  11. 'midtensportsfan' is the only person around that if she had her dress pulled up to her waist and her pants pulled to her ankles, the only thing that would be noticed would be her arrogance and ignorance! :roflol:

Funny how the ignorant are so quick to point out others ignorance. Whats done is done in Livingston, but every basketball fan in the middle Tennessee area has a raised eyebrow on that subject. Although 'midtensportsfan' doesn't choose his words wisely, he is pretty much right on. Those that don't admit that are the ignorant ones. (and thats coming from another Livingston fan)

  12. My Top 3 (Hope I'm Wrong)

    1. Upperman

    2. Cannon Co.

    3. Livingston

A Bobby McWillams team will have Livingston for lunch from here on out. Upperman is a great fundamental and disciplined team and Livingston no longer has Coach Melton to counter McWillams. The part that I hope I am wrong on is Cannon finishing above Livingston. However, if Livingston continues to play without discipline and the street ball they are playing now, a well coached Cannon Co team may edge us for 2nd place. This district has suddenly became anyones to take.

  13. LA fans are ready---Pianoman's been strangely quite---If Mason Ramsey's healthy---HOGEYE wins tomorrow night! :thumb:

It would be alot easier if Mason Ramsey is healthy. However, I feel the Cats should be able to manage as well if he is not 100%. Mason is a beast. The Cats win this one and advance to the State Tourney.

Pianoman will join the conversation when he thinks of something negative to say.

  14. Baldy aka Wheaton, was seen by lots of LA fans cheering for Upperman when we played there this year. Funny he and Dyer reffed alot of games together in the 90s dry.gif , maybe thats why! As for Ramsey's elbows, that is the reffs fault for letting the bees hang all over him. What is he supposed to do, sit and let them take the ball away? Upperman had two fouls called the whole first have then not another one called until 4 min to go in the 4th. Guess the reffs saw that the game was pretty much over and they wanted to try to even up the foul count. They dont need the herald citizen reporting two district tourney games in a row between these two schools where the foul count is that lopsided. If we didnt know better we would think they want Upperman to win ;) ! Congrats to Brad, and great team defense. Upperman had very few field goals as the reffs gave them their little offense from the line!! ;)

Livingston has a great team with good kids. Why take punches at Upperman's players. Upperman played there hearts out all year and earned there way to this game. They were outmatched last night by the better team last night. Why not give them there due and not put all the blame on the refs! I mean they did hold Livingston to 50 points which I think is a feat in and of itself.

I think your the only one taking it that way. Wake up. Everyone one here is giving "dues" to how hard Upperman played. Complaining about how the ref was unprofessional doesn't take anything away from the other team. He sounds like that, but thats not it.

  15. Boy how time flies. I thought the COD had only coached 5 seasons. But if he has won 6 straight dist. titles i guess he's coached 6. Great halftime adjustments by the COD not giving up a point in the 3rd qtr. to the Bees. In the words of R.E. "LA has taken Upperman completely out of their game." Nice and deserved award for Jackson.

That reads like your happy to report the coach only won 5 in a row other than 6 in a row. :hungry:

(thanks for the info by the way)

Atleast you said something nice about Brad. Way to go Pianoman10!

  16. I cannot believe that the first post after the game was a LA complaint about refs. :ugeek:

They are refs. There were a ton of calls under the UHS Basket that never got called. The LA folks were complaining about the kid getting a Player control foul for throwing his elbows under our basket, but he got away with a shot to the head doing the same exact thing in the first half. I saw it. It was right in front of me.

There are a crap load of fouls that dont get called, or go the other way, or get called that shouldnt.

YOU WON THE GAME, try to do it gracefully.

You have a very good team. I would like to watch them play sometime when I dont care who wins. Hard working kids, and well coached. I like that.

But if you put them up against Uppermans team, man for man, and try to tell me that Bobby McWilliams in not coaching the daylights out of his kids to keep it that close, for that long, then you dont know squat about basketball. And dont ever try to tell me that the refs are favoring a BmcW team. Im never going to buy that one. I really like the Upperman kids, they play their tails off, but they are physically no where close in this match up. Kudos to them for playing their hearts out.

Poor gator... Look up the defination of "joke" and "sarcasm"...

Upperman did well to keep it close. Maybe the 2 teams will meet again.
