  1. 1)Seymour (excellent pitching) 2)Jefferson (good coaching and pitching that throws strikes) 3)East (underachieving as usual, Upward Softball)4)Cherokee (possibly 3rd but coaching is weak like east) 5)South Doyle (good coaching) 6) West (pitching, coaching and defense will be average at best) 7)Cocke 8)Sevier

    1) Seymour- Hate to say it but coaching, pitching is probably best in the conference.

    2) M. East- Could make a run, most talented 1-9 on the field IMO.

    3) Jefferson- Young but talented, pretty good coaching.

    4) South Doyle- Look for major strides from this team this year.

    5) Cherokee- Descent pitching and a few sticks in the lineup.

    6) M. West- Sleeper, could make a jump all the way up to 4.

    7) Cocke- Very young will have growing to do.

    8) Sevier- Could possibly split with Cocke and finish in a tie for 7th.

Looking forward to an exciting season and hopeful my Lady Canes can finish higher than I projected! GO LADY CANES!!

  2. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda. Its like Coach Lombardi said, "If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we would all have a great big Christmas." Listen, I'm from the "other side" of Morristown, and East is definitely our biggest rivalry in every sport, but you have to give credit where credit is due. You can't call a team with 27 wins "overrated." They have lost thier leading scorer, and I dont think they have lost a game since she got hurt. Starting 3 seniors right now hardly classifies them as an "old" team. I already knew that Coach Cloninger was a good coach (she coached my daughter in middle school), but she has certainly done outstanding with this group. They probably will not beat Science Hill, but I bet it will be a good game, and with the chance to play in sub-state against Farragut or Maryville, I would take East over either one. Congrats to East, and that is hard for me to say.

To do what shes done with what she has Tracy deserves to be considered Coach of the year in girls AAA. I think she has two girls on the team that plays AAU basketball and they are a sophomore and a junior. She is bringing the love of basketball to a place where softball has been the primary sport for a long time! Tracy Cloninger would definitely get my vote for coach of the year!!!

  3. Yes but 90% of those said students do not even play sports. Only the girls who want to play play. Only the best make it just like any other school. Cloudland would still be the same if 2700 students when to Roan Mnt. because only a small group of girls WANT to play basketball. Cloudlands problem is they lose kids to Etown.lol. A guy at the SH game said they only have 19 or 20 players in their program. Wkvols can probably tell us more.

I agree size of school should not matter....I think Tennessee, Walters State, and Maryville College should all be in the same conference or classification. I think Science Hill, Happy Valley, and Washburn should all be in the same classification. I don't know why we even have A, AA, and AAA! WOW! By the way Science Hill is good for all of you that dont know it!

  4. I love it when the losers always complain about something. You got took out back and beat down by SH. Just accept it and move on. You better be watching out for Maryville or you East SUPER squad will not even make it to the boro. You have played 3 potential state teams and lost by 12, 45, and 42. East will not stand a chance in the Murphy Center. Heck they may not even make it, but don't worry if they do and lose that first one its because the school to bigger than theirs. Give me a break!

I dont think granddad is an East fan and you are right East more than likely wont have a chance if they make it to State. Maryville will be a tough game for us on the road. Hilltoppers wont win State this year.....maybe next year!

  5. Yes. And Bradley was without 2 of their better players one of which has returned and the other is a 6'2" post the coaches daughter who as of today has yet to play due to an injury. BC has alos won a lot of games by a large margin and have been developing a freshman at guard and some of their shooting rust is beginning to were off, Not sayong Mo. East isn't good but Bradley has beat them already with only a loss to a very good senior loaded team that won the d2 state last year. And GPS can play with most teams if not all in the state.

Bradley Central is a very talented team and they do deserve to be considered in the top 10 conversation. Morristown East was not at full strength in the BC either and are not even playing close to the same kind of basketball as they did in that game. If you saw them play today you wouldn't even recognize them.....they have improved and grown leaps and bounds. Every team in the state is improving and East has done it quickly and dramatically! East also deserves to be considered in the top 10 topic!
  6. First half analysis for everyone? Surprises? For me I think SH did what people thought. South started strong then lost to Boone. Boone then drops a couple. Volunteer has played well. THS did what people thought as well. I think the middle of the league is up for grabs. Should be a good second half. What does the IMAC have for us this year?

IMAC has Morristown East which is as good as Science Hill or at least very close. 2 thru 5 in IMAC is probably comparable to 2-5 in Big 8.
  7. I would interject that it is not in either SH or Easts best interest to meet before regional finals

Well put by trottercoach. If they were to meet I think it will be 50/50. The way granddad put it East would not have much of a chance. East has beaten Science hill twice in the last couple of years including last year @ Science Hill.
  8. East should have no problems going undefeated in the district during the regular season. They should also be favored to win the district tournament but could face an upset bid by an improving Seymour or Morristown West. Winning the district tournament is super important this year because no one will likely beat Science Hill in the Region. Facing SH prior to the regional finals spells disaster for everyone.

I'm not as sure about all that as you are granddad.

  9. I haven't missed a game all season and unfortunately this will be the first one I won't be able to make it to. Does Morristown East broadcast games on the radio like M. West does? If so, what station/frequency? Thanks.

  10. I don't think M. East will be in the 70's against Seymour, as they have been most of the season...never look past anyone. Seymour is playing good basketball right now.

Seymour definitely has a good ball team as they do in most sports year in and year out. East will not look past Seymour or anyone else for that matter. East is playing pretty good ball also, they have some things they need to improve on just like everyone else but if they can get better at a few parts of the game (and I think they will) they will be a very difficult "out" in district and regional play. They have the depth to play hard the entire game, they have the inside and outside game, they have ball handling and size. The one thing that I see that needs to be improved on the most is probably shot selection, take good shots for the most parts but they go thru lulls in the game where bad shots are taken and while you can get away with it against weaker teams, the stronger teams come post season time will make you pay for it. I'm pretty sure Tracy will get that taken care of though, she is a smart coach! Play Greeneville tonight and Seymour tomorrow night......GO LADY CANES!!

  11. As the old song goes...One out of four ain't bad!! Just kidding.

Hahahaha......I think we can count trottercoach out as a prognosticator! He got the most impotant one right though!

  12. Big game tonight for the Lady Canes at home against Dobyns Bennett. Need to be able to play and beat the teams from the Big 8. Also big game for Morr West tonight against South Greene. GO LADY CANES!!

  13. I'm impressed with East's team and I thought they looked good tonight. Stormy and Trottercoach, you may just have something to really brag about this year. It looks like you've got the talent and I'm impressed with your coach.

Yeah it was a nice win for my Lady Canes....North Greene tourny champs! I thought we looked a little out of sync at times and a little unfocused during stretches of the game but overall a nice win. Chucky Doak is a quality team, their PG is definitely a baller. I expect our coach will work out the kinks and have the girls ready for conference play! As always GO LADY CANES!

  14. ETSU Softball Signs Five For 2012-13

    http://www.etsubucs.com/softball/news/2011-12/8210/etsu-softball-signs-five-for-2012-13/

Johnson City, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2011)-The ETSU softball team has announced the signing of five student-athletes for the 2012-13 season, according to head Buccaneer softball coach Brad Irwin on Wednesday.

Madison Boyd (Chattanooga, Tenn.), Sam Carpenter (Forest City, N.C.), Bethany Cowart (Ringgold, Ga.), Emilie Hensley (Morristown, Tenn.), and Katy Jordan (Loganville, Ga.) have all signed their national letter of intent to play softball for the Blue and Gold starting next fall.

"We are really proud of this class," said Irwin. "We think this class will be a major step in building our program. This class meets many of our needs, which includes pitching and power. We can hardly wait to get these young ladies on campus. The four high school players in this signing class also played for a high level travel ball team."

  15. Just an early pre-season prediction. I think there will be alot of parity in the IMAC this year.

    3. Morristown West
