  1. Tiger Grad- My guess is that you're an old Collierville wrestler that hopped on to view this years region results and was disappointed by what seems to be a large decline by your alma mater, which is understandable, but it might help to have the facts. In Coach Graham's first four year of Coaching, the dragons won three region titles and last year they placed fourth in the state. He was also twice voted as the Coach of the year by his peers and won the region by over 90 points in 2010. So to imply that he is an oaf, that he doesn't care, or that the program has suffered under his tenure is simply an ignorant statement. If you're looking for an explanation of what happened to Collierville this year it can be explained in several ways. They had a phenomenal graduating class in 2010, there were season ending injuries to their defending region champ (215) and a defending region runner-up (189) , Shoulder Surgery for the teams top jv prospect from last year who pushed last years state finalist all season, and on top of that the loss of multiple state qualifiers that decided to step away from the sport for various reasons. I can't help but think that the team that wrestled on Saturday would look a little different with a healthy- Brandon Pitre, Jacob Holden, Kramer Bates, Clayton Bennett, Ty Talarico, Bradley Kramer, etc... You can write off the current coaching staff if you'd like but I guarantee you that the rest of the region knows that one snake bitten season is not the demise of powerful Collierville wrestling program. And if you want to know my favorite thing about Coach Graham- he held his head up high this season, congratulated all of the wrestlers and coaches that beat him, and was a hospitable host all weekend at the regionals. Not bad for coach that is still in his 20's
  2. geterdone- I think what the region 8 wrestler was trying to say was that in the State brackets all of the region 8 winners that didn't place at state last year are placed at a section in the bracket where they will wrestle the overall number one seed in the quarterfinals. So at 103, 119, 130, 140, 145, 152, 160, 189, 215 and HWY all of those region winners were placed in the same spot on the bracket. It wouldn't be so bad if that spot randomly happened to be against previous medalists at the 4th place spot which typically wouldn't even be a returning medalist , but when 10 of our champs have to face the overall number one seed in the quarterfinals it really kills our chances as a region. I don't think this is a conspiracy against a certain region- I just think that somebody didn't do the work to properly draw up the brackets. This really should be changed.
