  1. After last night I'm not surprised the posting fell off from the Collinwood side. IMHO, Gleason played a solid, well planned game. At the same time, Collinwood went one dimensional and it beat them in the end. At first glance, Collinwood had the "athletic" team but in the end it proved that Gleason had the athletes.

Let me clear the fog for you. Collinwood is a running team. They ran the ball 6 times against Gleason. For 100 plus yards. They only used 5 different plays the whole night, and racked up 275 yards in the first two quarters. Its called Vanilla coaching. We play Forrest this week and they get this film. If it makes you feel better knowing your second team scored one more td than ours then good for you. Varsity wise it was even. Even with Collinwood giving you the ball at the three and the 20. All in all, I thought both teams were evenly matched. Good luck to Gleason this year.

Is the 100 plus yards from the whole game or just the first half? I remember ya'll running two or three times in the first half.. two runs were small and one was a fumble. I think ya'll might have scored on a couple long runs in the second half, but I honestly can't remember if ya'll had any big runs in the first half.

I really think Collinwood's quarterback made good throws when he wasn't throwing it as hard as he could. Good decision to not show your playbook. Good luck this season Collinwood!

  2. Bricklayer, you said, " is that why Gleason and greenfield sent letters to the other schools begging them to come to their school". So what you said there had nothing to do with sports?? Then why post it?? It's very easy to gather that you meant those schools sent the letters because they need help with their sports teams.

  3. no, i was saying that their district isn't the best in football if the schools in their district have to send out letts because they are hardly making it... Greenfield its self is not a football school. They are a baseball school and they are very good at it.

But you do realize that those schools did not send out the letter. The county had to because the state makes each school district send out that letter if a school did not have a good graduation rate. This past year, i think the letter said westview and dresden fell in that category. So they were given the option to go to a different school in the county. It has nothing to do with sports.

  4. stavi, watch the second half film of the Dresden/Gibson game this past week and you'll see cheap shot left and right. I know the game was out of reach, but play the game like it is supposed to be played and in between the whistles. You guys are earning a bad reputation for the way you play, not just here in Gibson Co. You can say it's physical play, but I say it's cheap and nasty. Dresden was the same team that head butted a kid of ours 2 ago and knocked him out after his helmet had been knocked off during kickoff return. It was intentional whether you or hogheaven admit it. We saw that on film too.

Someone did tell me that Dresden had a few cheap shots in a scrimmage against South Fulton, but I wasn't at the game, so that might not be accurate. Dresden has always been a really agressive team, though.

  5. your so dumb. Dresden has beat westview 4 times in around the last 20 years. WEstview is having a really bad year this year and Dresden is having the best its ever had. And you barely beat Westview.. COngratulations to Dresden on beating a team who is playing horrible this year. Dresden grow up and act like you've beat a team before. WEstview players had made many excuses to the lose. They were embarresed to even be on the field with a team as "horrible" as dresden and dresden even made it a game. Mckenzie will beat dresden easy.. and your saying OC to beat Westview?..I'd love to see Dresden even keep OC from beating them 50-0.. but the best District? Is that why Greenfield and Gleason sent letters around Weakley County begging people to come to their school..HOw can you be the best if you barely have s school.. Hogheaven i can tell your really smart in the sports section. Good luck getting your tail whooped by Mckenzie!

So you think those letters were sent to make the sports teams at Greenfield better? :roflol:

  6. District 13 is awesome. The bottom two teams according to 96.5 radio were dresden and Gleason. pretty stinking good teams on the bottom. Completely impressed by gleason in week one. Never thought I would say it, but, GOOD JOB Coach Lampkins! Great win. Keep it rolling. Congrats on your baby too!

    48-0 Gleason.

Greenfield came out shell shocked, they might have a lot of growing pains this year. Our guys game out fired up and focused. Ran very well, threw decent. Had a couple good pass plays. A lot of different options at running back. And hey! we only missed one extra point kick tonight! LOL

I was impressed with all of our running backs, verdell ran the ball a little bit and threw a few pretty passes, and our defense played great tonight. I don't think greenfield got their first 1st down in the last minute of the third quarter.

Also, Ezell did a great job fielding punts and had some great gains to.

Good luck to greenfield the rest of the way!

Great job Noah and Dawgs!! :thumb:

  7. I have talked to people and know that their QB is weak but have alot of younger players that are going to have to carry the load if the bulldogs want to have a winning year. i think they are overall a good team but no help from their senior players. goodluck to both teas tomorrow.

Well, i think 4 out of 5 people on their line are seniors, qb is a senior, two of the running backs are seniors, two receivers are seniors. And most of their offense plays defense, so all around the seniors make up the starting core.

Don't get me wrong, gleason has a very talented group of young players, but will have to rely on their juniors' and seniors' experience to help them compete. The QB didn't have a good scrimmage against waverly, but the line was struggling, because they were still working out the kinks and they probably still are. But, i think their qb will be solid for them.

And i agree that the younger guys will need to step up to help gleason win games. :thumb:

  8. District 13 shows off its strength again against a very young Greenfield team. I've heard tons of talk from our neighbors south of Dresden. I didn't realize it but they have the weakest non district schedule I've ever seen. They may go 7-3 and get crushed in round 1 of the playoffs. Scotts hill, Fulton, Greenfield, halls. They have figured out the playoff system down there. Smart Coaches! Truly wish you luck in all but one game this year bulldogs. You have some awesome young talent and a quality qb. Good luck this week! :flower:

Well, i think we have a talented team, but we still have a long way to go. The offensive line needs improvement, and our overall hitting needs a little work. I think we should win the majority of our non region games, but we still need to beat West Carroll and/or Bruceton. However, I will never say we are going to win a game, because I did that four years ago when we were playing Greenfield. We were favorited to win and got our butts stomped, lol. We were the better team and should have been 8-2 that year instead of 7-3.

Anyways, I am very excited about this season and the kickoff game Friday at Greenfield!

Oh and one other thing, Coach Lampkins did come away with a victory Friday, as he became a father Friday afternoon. Congrats Coach.

Thanks Hog and good luck to Dresden this year too, just how about taking it a couple notches down on the hitting, lol. Y'all were really tough Thursday night!

  9. LC beat Gleason 3-1 in varsity and Gleason won 1-0 in JV. I wasn't able to make it, but we scrimmage Waverly next Tuesday night at home, so I will definitely make it there and tell y'all who looks good and what we need to work on..

  10. Oh after reading Wardawg's status, I think the scrimmage was a combined 3-2. Varsity was 3-1 and JV was 1-0 Gleason. Our passing game is supposed to be stronger this year, but the people at the game said that our lineman were having trouble with lC's defensive line and they got to the quarterback pretty quickly. Also our receivers are still shaking off the rust because I think there were 3 or 4 dropped passes. I really wish I could have made it there. I wanted to watch LC's athletes!

  11. How did the scrimmage go?Haven't heard anything from anyone. Were you there Thunder?Wardawg?

One of the Dawgs told me varsity ended up 3-2 LC. He said that the lineman were having problems knowing their assignments, but that is expected since they have just started working on plays. Also, he said the defense played well. Some of the fans at the game said that LC looked pretty good. I think they are favorited in their region, but after UC handing it to McKenzie things might have changed. I couldn't make it there, but Gleason scrimmages Waverly next Tuesday in Gleason. Good Luck all 14A teams!

  12. Gleason scrimmages LC this Tuesday. Im glad we are because LC might be faster than any team we play this year, so we"ll get a lot of practice there. I heard Greenfield was down this year. Also, how does Halls and SF look. I hear that SF is down to 20 players or so

  13. I might see some diffrences of opionions from 3-6, but I gotta still see McKenzie 1 and Huntingdon 2. Dresden may slip in there at 2 but those three just have bigger schools and more athletes and it is hard for those other three to compete week in and week out. Other three are really 1A and those top ones 2A schools in the traditional way we used to do it.

I agree monster, I think McKenzie, Huntingdon, and Dresden should all be 2a during playoffs. Does dresden go up to 2a when the playoffs begin? I know huntingdon stays 1a

  14. I thought the district would go like this..

    1. McKenzie (no-brainer)

    2. Huntingdon (don't know much about them, but a tough non-region schedule awaits them)

    3. Dresden (not sure about them, but were physical last year)

    4. Gleason (sleeper)

    5. Bruceton (don't know anything about them)

    6. West Carroll ( I think they might have lost a little from last year)

I really think 3-5 could go any way. I'm biased with Gleason, but Coach Lampkins has several options on offense tis year, with the O-line being seniors who all started last year. The two quick running backs from middle school will be freshmen. A very smart QB, who might run the ball some too. Unfortunately, we still have a lot of ironmen who play both sides of the ball. I think Gleason is getting excited about the season, but the competition in the district has improved from top to bottom. I just hope we can make the playoffs.

Good luck dawgs, Noah, and the rest of district 13-A!
