  1. Moral of the story is parents have no business being involved in certain type of decisions. It sounds like these parents cost this school a great coach. Society has let sports get out of control. Parents should quit trying to live their lives through their children.

The "buzz" through the Knoxville club teams is that every high school and club coach in town wants this job. Several good jobs including Farragut; Oak Ridge; CAK and Webb all came open this season. They pale in comparison to the Anderson County job, which is the volleyball job to have. The suspicion is that if the school does not get who they want they won't make a quick decision. According to the paper Coach Cantrell will manage the team until Coach Wade's replacement can be found. It wouldn't surprise me that they might even wait until next season unless they get who they want in the next few weeks. It also wouldn't surprise me if they make a hire in the next few days given the unprecedented interest.

AC is loaded with size and talent, young talent. Next year will be great.

    And thats the K@ruth :roflol:

  2. I don't know coach Wade or coach Cantrell that well, but the players speak highly of both, and they run a fantastic program. I watched the Regional Tournament that AC hosted last year and it was the most professionally and classiest run high school event that I have ever seen, and their team wan't even a participant.

Anderson County is the standard for volleyball programs in east Tenn. This is the high school job to have. It pays the most; has the best infrastructure and a tradition like no other. Every coach in the area, and several who are willing to relocate, will take a shot at this job. All of AC's girls played club this year (which has never happened before) and they return their whole team with alot of size. With the right coach they are state bound.

Does anyone have any idea who will get it?

What a big year for Knoxville area volleyball. The best club year ever is getting ready to be followed by the most exciting high school season ever with all of the premiere programs having new coaches!

    And thats the K2ruth :flower:

  3. Is this a joke?

I won't even dignify the club references with a response.

As to the idea that a player would leave Anderson County, or Karns for that matter, to go to Oak Ridge for better coaching can't be serious.

Orcat, Anderson County has the top volleyball program in the area and produces college and all-state players by the bucket full. Karns is returning most of its team which won the Region last year. These coaches are some of the best in the state. Why leave to go to a school where the coach is brand new? Also, this isn't college, the TSSAA would look at any transfer.

Sounds like someone is a little insecure. Maybe we should call you Orcoach?

  4. In response to orcat I can assure you that Catholic High school's association with K2 will not have any affect on athletes transfering schools. The purpose for K2 is to promote high school volleyball and to provide for a high level of instruction for the athlete. Also, other Knoxville area clubs, K2 recognizes that club should work hand in hand with the high schools, not subvert them. In the past, area clubs took a different position.

Knoxville has several powerful volleyball schools. Anderson County High School, Farragut High School and Catholic High School are recognized state volleyball powers with great coaching staffs that provide a high level of instruction. Athletes from these schools and others take advantage of highly competitive club programs to make them better volleyball players. K2 has athletes from schools all across the region. The goal of K2 is not to funnel players anywhere. Orcat's statement is perhaps jaded by previous club practices from other organizations.

As it relates to "predictions" orcat is again too much of a fan, of either the school or the new coach.

Oak Ridge would not be expected to beat either Anderson County or Karns next season. Karns has a talented team with most of its players back from its first state tournament appearance last season. Anderson County is loaded with young size and talent and is the best volleyball program in East Tennessee. Both Karns and AC have essentially all of their players in club. For AC that is highly unusual.

Farragut is also much better than "predicted." They are not as young as AC, but have several great players and an excited new coach who will keep the winning tradition alive. Catholic is also well coached, but would be the first to say that they don't have the athletes of Karns or AC.

Karns senior experience gives them a slight, notice I said "slight" advantage over AC's size and athleticism, but don't discount AC's experience. Karns has been to 1 state tournament; AC's seniors have already been to 2, and were in the state semifinals. Karns and AC are the two top teams, by alot, and Farragut is not far back. Catholic will be solid, and competitive, as will Bearden and Maryville. Oak Ridge is not even in the discussion.

Orcat, don't acuse K2 of anything other than working with the great athletes and coaches in making volleyball better.

Disrespect Anderson County, Karns and Farragut all you want. They will remember. And i suspect they don't predict championships, they win them.
