  1. And its good to see...Maybe the folks east of us will realize we can play some ball. Just get tired of hearing bout middle and east Tennessee teams being the best in state without any mention of the West Tennessee teams...Covington and Westview reppin for 13AA "best AA district in state".. Keep it going girls!!!
  2. You are right. Every team has a bad game now and then. But you need to schedule some games with some tougher competition in order to be able to compete at state. Your tournament schedule was very weak. Wins against weak teams don't mean much. What!!! Maybe we are not looking at the same schedules. Camden, South Fulton, Milan, Dyersburg, Brighton, Germantown ETC... (all wins by the way). Don't worry AandO, I think for most of the district, we all recognize Covington as the powerhouse; they do it year in and year out. They have some great players and unlike many schools, have an actual softball coach, no disrespect to any of the other coaches in the district. Their coach wasn't someone that coached another sport and just decided to give softball a try like so many. That is not to say Covington can't be beat, but you have to be on your A game to do it thats all.
  3. They are an outstanding softball school, I totally agree. I really hate they way people judge a player's ability by whether they go Division I or whatever. There have been so many athletes that choose a school based on whether it will look good in the papers or to their hometown, when what they need to do is find the best fit for them. I personally know girls that have taken a D II or NAIA over DI jus because they want a better learning environment. You never want to be the one of the ones that choose a DI only to realize that its not the place for you and transfer somewhere else. Its not about bragging rights its about getting an education while playing a sport you love. There is definitely no shame in UAH..Good Luck Hannah!
  4. Yep..even tho I think Milan's pitcher, A Williams was still feelin the affects of a collision with Milan's SS a Fuller for a fly ball from the first game..laid both of them out for several minutes. GC hit into the gaps and Milan hit straight to players. GCs centerfielder and SS were impressive. Milan couldn't lay off the change ups that GC pitcher threw and she threw them every pitch. If Milan could have stood up there and waited around prolly couldve walked in the runs needed to win. But proud that GC got a win... Hoping Milan will be focused for rest of season now that those games are over and are getting ready for the district tournament. Thats when it really counts. I am not sure anyone else noticed but the North side of 13 AA is looking really crazy lol Good luck the rest of the way everyone.
  5. Guru....maybe you should change your rankings after tonight's game. Westview dominated Milan 12-2 in 6 innings tonight. It wasn't close at any point in the game. Westview started the game in the first inning scoring 6 runs. Westview has probably the best line-up top to bottom in the district. They only lost two girls from last year's team which were Sam Giesler (who is starting as a Freshman at Union this year) and Grace Ann Swaim (who will be playing college basketball). Westview has made it to the state tournament the past three consecutive years and I see them making it a fourth this year. You haven't gotten to see Westview at it's best yet As most who have watched this district the last several years, there are no real easy answers in this district. Now with Covington joining they look like a lock, but the second place team could be a toss up. Will depend who is playing their best ball when it comes tournament time. Westview lost two games to South Fulton Monday.. who saw that coming.. and no one would have seen Westview beating Milan by that score. From what I understand, Milan's only varsity pitcher was having a bad night and her defense didn't cover. Westview did have some great hits, but off a pitcher who wasn't on. It happens. I am sure most of the Westview fans will admit they don't expect that kind of game next time with Milan. They usually split the season games with Westview winning district over Milan the last two years. So as I said, this district comes down to the tournament period. So we will just have to wait and see how everyone progresses. Of course, Crockett is also waiting for their chance.
