  1. The Region Championship game has been rescheduled for tonight at 6pm! It will be at LaVergne instead of Siegel Park. Still unaware if the game will simply be replayed from 0-0 or start where it left off at 1-0. All fans who purchased tickets at last night's game will be admitted free in tonight's game. It will be a hard fought game by both teams no doubt. If the officials opt to start at 1-0, there is still approximately 70 minutes to play in the game, so don't count Riverdale out yet.
  2. Riverdale-4 Oakland-1 LaVergne-2 Siegel-1
  3. Sorry I am so late informing you guys of scores, as I did not have internet service the past couple of days. Starting with the Riverdale/Oakland game. Not much to say about it. The Warriors won it 4-1 off two goals from corners, an error by the goalie on a free kick, and just an overall well played goal. Now for the Siegel/LaVergne game. This game was slow paced for the majority of regulation. LaVergne struck first, but Siegel answered just minutes afterwards. They went into OT at 1-1. No scores through the first two 10 minute OTs. There were also no scores in the first 5 minute golden goal OT. During the second 5 minute golden goal OT, LaVergne headed in the winning goal from service from a teammate with 41 seconds to go, avoiding the PK shootout. Overall a fantastic game. Very much a low scoring game as predicted. Riverdale and LaVergne should be a good championship game Thursday at 7pm. Try to make it out if you can. Predictions or thoughts anyone?
  4. Riverdale 1 - Siegel 1 Very tough fought game by both teams. Riverdale controlled the first half and scored within the first 15 minutes. Second half, Siegel picked it up and Riverdale lost its intensity. Riverdale also had many opportunities that should have been goals. The game-tying goal came in the 70th minute and both teams were determined to take the lead, making the game very exciting. Siegel even pulled their keeper to midfield on one possession. All in all it was a fantastic game, one of the most exciting all year. However, with this game in the books, Riverdale clinches the division and will get a first round bye in the district tournament. Siegel's seeding will depend on the result of their game against Oakland next week.
  5. I completely agree. Riverdale controlled the ball the majority of the game, but Blackman seemed to just lose all potential after halftime. At the start of the second half, two more goals were scored within ten minutes. Blackman appeared to lose confidence and show several signs of frustration within its own team. Now coming up in the week will be a couple of interesting matchups. If Riverdale wants to maintain their first position in the division, they have to come up with a win against Siegel (depending on the Siegel-Oakland matchup) and Blackman faces off against LaVergne. It will be interesting to find out how those games turn out.
  6. Now that the regular season is nearing its end, I'd just like to hear everyone's thoughts about the district standings thus far. Though many people predicted Riverdale finishing at the bottom of the district, they are unbeaten (3-0) so far, with wins over Smyrna, LaVergne, and Oakland. This puts them in a good position entering the last two district games, considering Siegel's loss to LaVergne and the tie between Oakland and Blackman. But this is where it gets interesting as the final district games are always exciting. Any thoughts?
