Let me start by saying congrats to Polk for a great season 10 wins on any level is great espically from my end in Meigs County it would be awesome, now on to the nonsense on this board, what is it about Hwy 411 from Polk Co up thru Englewood do the fans from Polk and Central get together and write down who has crapped on them from fans to refs, alot of posts on here talk about how the refs called the game well people it was called bad on both sides from what I hear but like I said in an earlier post Polk was not playing Meigs or Sweetwater they were playing the number 2 team in the state a team who was not going to be intimated by the Wildcats because of their physical play. Polk played very well as well they should they were ranked in the top 5 of the rankings but face it even if you would have won last night Alcoa would have made you guys look like a little league team from the SETAC league I mean no disrespect but facts are facts instead of some Polk fans enjoying their season you have a few on this thread talking about how we got hosed, you all took the Warriors to the limits last night be proud of all you have done, speaking as someone who has lost to you all 4 years in a row I would have loved for our Tigers to have been in your shoes last night. It's time to quit blaming everybody else for what went down last night the refs DID NOT BEAT YOU CAK DID with a last second drive say what you will the refs called a touchdown and from what I hear they did the same for Polk on the drive earlier when your qtr backs knee looked to be down, bottom line you got beat by the better team last night, again be proud of what you all did this year because believe me it won't last forever just ask us fans over here in Meigs County

I can't believe that alot of Polk fans are still talking how they are going to whip cak you know bleed red just posted there's no way cak is scoring 30 well you ain't playing in your district Friday your playing the second ranked team behind Alcoa. Do you all know they hung over 30 against Alcoa and it was not against there back ups guys I'm all for you all but like I said this ain't Friday night at tellico its against cak they are number 2 for a reason you all may very well beat them but you will have to score some points big time no disrespect to the team or fans just want you all to have a reality check.l

Well its been awhile since I posted so here goes everyone knows that I love meigs football yes were not good but we try question is after reading this thread there are some real dumb remarks Polk county has had a great year but fans look who they played south Pitt. You will say there 1a you should beat them you play in the weakest district in east TN I know been watching it for years even when Mcminn central was good they never got out of the first round no disrespect just fact all I heard last year after you all stomped us was how well you matched with Alcoa come on they are the cream of the crop and let me also say if cak was not paired with Alcoa in the district these would be the teams playing for the championship. Polk is a good team with good players but guys your not playing meigs or sweetwater this week. Good luck to you all pulling for a district team but fans You all need to show cak the respect they deserve

Throw, your right, loyalty was not and will never be rewarded here and that's a shame but you can thank the powers that be for that.Now dc, I have a dog in the race and and I'm a member of the community and I know 90 % of this team and the reason so many people like the direction this team is going right now is because this team had no direction over the last few years, we had Eller the last 2 years and Stan is a really nice guy and would do anything for you but he was not the solution. So only time will tell the only direction we can go is up.

Ok here we go again, you would think since we have a coach now these posts would stop but I guess not, I am going to address big daddy, from an earlier post you said I chastized Baker for his decision making, your right I did and I would do it again because number 1 it went on entirely to long and this new coach came out of no where and Baker was bound and determined to NOT hire Holliday but whats done is done and Holliday will do well with this guy because thats the kind of person he is, now dc you again are wrong not all people are backing this guy at least not yet and its not because Holliday did not get the job and its not because he is not a good person or coach and just because he is looking for a house means absoultely nothing, bottom line is that this guy has not earned the respect of anyone here yet, yes we are behind him and the team but he needs to earn respect from the community just because hes head coach that does not give him a free pass, we gave it to the last couple of coaches and one left for money and the other just didn't seem to care and we got burned. Again just like everyone else here just my opinion and we can all agree to disagree. In any case good luck Tigers and good luck to the new coaching staff .

Sounds to me that some fans are showing loyalty to a coach that has stuck it out through thick and thin. You need to support him also. We will support our new coach and we will also support his staff. Who knows in any case you have bashed Holliday at every turn, same goes for that smart remark you made in the quote, yes the Holliday fans will get behind the coach because we have ties to this team question is do you or do you just like getting on here and saying things that you have no clue about, are you one of those people that know everything about nothing? In any event as far as this team goes it is all about you guys make this a year to remember. Play the best you know how, play hard for your town your coaches but most of all play hard for yourselves, this team can do good things if you guys just believe in yourselves. GOOD LUCK IN 2010.

I wasnt being sarcastic in saying I was glad he got an interview. Alot of the criticism on Baker was that he wasnt giving Holiday a chance, or an interview. He saw what he needed to see obviously in Spring Practice and also through an interview and made a different decision. I met Coach Jones along with the players the other day and it was a breath of fresh air. I think if he can get things done his way, he has a good vision for the boys. Now that a new coach is hired, are we ready to support him 100%? or does he have to treat Holiday with kid gloves since some people thought he should have been the head coach? dc you say Baker was under alot of criticism for not giving Holliday a chance or an interview, only half of that is the truth, Holliday didn't apply this time until right after spring practice and he did get the interview 2 years ago, so as far as alot of people are concerned Baker will give him the interviews just won't give him the chance, regardless of how you feel Holliday is a heck of a coach with alot of knowledge and works very hard at what he does and my guess is he will get a head job as soon as he gets away from the politics that is always going on not just in Meigs but all over the Chattanooga and Sweetwater valley, yes there's politics everywhere, but dc you sound like you have an idea of whats happening and I do agree this is a bit of fresh air but you know even 2 years ago when Eller was hired it was a back room deal, the man didn't even show up on the radar till the last minute. In any case I'm glad this coach wants to be here and I hope he can turn this program around, but he will need support from all of us and I am going to support him and this bunch of PLAYERS remember it's the players who make it happen . First off one comment made in an earlier post was that they were glad Holliday at least got his interview, what sarcasim coming from that poster but thats ok he entitled to his opinion, now as far as this new coach, he sounds like someone that knows what he his doing and wants to be in Meigs which is a plus I know that the fans will like that, as far as Holliday and Harris, does anyone know if they will be allowed to keep their positions as O and D coord. I would think Harris would step back to coaching a position considering this new coach is bringing in his own style of offense. I would think Holliday would be allowed to resume his duties as D Coord. I would also like to think the new coach would depend on Holliday alot which is good and bad. All in all congrats to the new Coach, I really hope you turn this program around these kids deserve it.

Where is this Coach Jones from???? As far as Chatt Central Ump not sure about his name. I hope he does get announced today the kids need a coach. Good luck to the Tigers this year, and to Coach Holliday sorry you were overlooked again but I'm sure your time will come, just bide your time and coach the only way you know how this year.

Well Ump if your right then all this talk about a coach coming in from out of state was a bunch of crap coming from someone wanting to stir the pot, and if your right and the rumor about and out of state coach is right then are we safe to say the out of state guy turned it down, well only time will tell. But if the rumor is true and Holliday is interviewing then hats off to Coach Baker for at least giving him an interview. I know workouts start June 6th and I'm sure a coach needs to be in place by then, so I would guess we can expect some sort of announcement by then, or at least I hope so.

Here we go first of all dc I'm a lifelong Meigs County resident and I have seen coaches come and go from Jackie Rayl to Stan Eller and I can assure you I know what I'm talking about, as far as Holliday goes if you were close to the situation like I think most Meigs football fans have been then you would know that for the last few years Holliday has been very vocal on the direction of the football program and if you know him you would see that he knows football now I know what people are going to say oh were not saying he doesn't know football yada yada. Tigerpride was right unless your around it now or have been the last few years then you really don't know the situation were proud Meigs County residents so please know what your talking about before you speak. As for bashing Baker I don't think anyone is bashing him people and myself included think he could have handled this better than he did it has been a running joke all around Meigs, McMinn and even Bradley county, and honestly I'm not the only person that thinks he has treated Holliday very un fairly and just pushed him to the curb, for better or worse he deserved the chance to suceed or fail just by virture of knowing this program, just because he coached with Eller, Davis and Harris does not mean he agrees with what they did. Now, to the new coach, whoever you are I think I can say no matter what this is about the kids not you or Holliday, Harris, Baker, etc. everyone wants whats best for the players and if this guy is it then as a fan base lets get behind him and the program and hopefully watch it do great things.

Everybody keeps talking about this great sophmore class, if memory serves, it's the class thats getting ready to become seniors that was loaded with talent, they all just haven't stayed together for one reason or another, don't get me wrong there is good talent from that sophmore class as well. People on here want to say that change is good and I agree, it is my whole point about Holliday was just give him a chance he may have some fresh ideas honestly the other coaches on staff the last couple of years didn't care what ideas he had and that's fact. But if this new guy is that good and can do what Montana is saying then I say lets do this thing and get the kids fired up about playing. All there is to say now is Go Tigers, and I wish all the luck in the world to the new coach hopefully he will be left alone to coach the team his way.

Looks like we got some play here and some good conversation, ok Montana we have to wait but waiting is not how to handle this, if there was a coach in play it should have been announced papers or not they had a verbal introduce him at least to the staff and players, now, as far as him being able to bring his own people good luck there tnsport and dc are right this is high school there has to be a teaching job for them and pretty much all teachers have been re hired for next year that are going to stay, unless his coaches are so loyal they want to work for free as volunteer coaches. As for Holliday he will adapt just fine if the new coach is smart he will leave the defense alone and maybe just tweek it but if Holliday is smart he will bide his time there is a head job out there for him and shame on Clint Baker for not giving him a chance. As for Zack Harris, he is a pretty good guy but he was put in a position he wasn't ready for he is from what I have seen a good position coach but guiding the offense should be left to someone with a little more experience, one knock on Harris as the offensive coord. is that he cannot a will not adapt to what another defense does prime example Sweetwater and Pigeon Forge last year Meigs had both games won and play calling got them beat, you can't trap and run up the middle all night mix it up a little he claimed they couldn't throw the ball but when a defense puts 10 guys in the box a 5 yard dump pass would gain alot of yards, I don't know who coached special teams someone said it was Gene Davis but he is gone so no sense talking about him. So heres the thing is the new coach willing to step on someones feet here in Meigs, Holliday is fine as d coord. but Harris needs to step back and coach what he knows best, is the new coach ready to make that decision from the get go, all I can say is good luck because changing the system here has never been done and I can't see the new guy changing it either.

Ok Montana you seem to know whats going on with this situation and brother I hope your right this program has been thru enough but the fact remains the whole process has been a joke from day 1, I have said all along that Rick Holliday deserved the job and he went to Baker 2 weeks ago still wasn't considered which is nothing more than a slap in the face, If your guy is that good then that's good for the program but has Baker or anyone bothered to tell the players someone has been hired the players are saying no one has told them anything which again if true then thats just something else this adminstration has mis handled. I hope your guy is the best for the job these players deserve someone who is going to teach them and care about them, they have that with Coach Holliday I just hope they get it from Coach X. Still frustrated because to this point it has not been handled proper what so ever.

I agree with the last post all the name dropping and now lets not say anything, that person that says they know who it is may very well know but then again it could be someone blowing smoke, In any case I hope he is right and there is a coach getting ready to be announced but as small as Meigs is if it were true somebody would know and the secret would already be out. The coach that the poster was talking about sounds like a really good coach but then again, if it's a Tennessee coach, school is over and I think Baker would be ready to make the announcement and not wait six days or at least with all the turmoil surrounding the search I would think he would be ready to make the announcement yesterday. So here we are speculating again on who it is, it must be someone of such importance that making the announcement now would cut into his bonus or TV deal who is it Bill Cower, sorry just frustrated with the whole search, because it could have been handled alot better than it was. I keep going back to the players because the only people being hurt by this are the players, the adminstration should have considered that before Eller was let go. Make the announcement and quit being so secretive. Just frustrated at the whole thing.
