  1. Now the cat is out of the bag, Coach Jones is now your new head coach. He led the Central Pounders to two playoff appearances in three years after they hadn't won a game in over two seasons. His offense had an offensive player of the year in 2003 and his scoring defense was one of the top in the area each of the first few years. Let all the athletes know, there will be chances to make plays in this offense and expect pressure play from the defense. The time has come for Meigs to rise again and be the dominant power they once were. Good luck to you all.
  2. I hope I didn't mislead you on the oc/dc discussions. He hasn't made any hires or final decisions yet on those and I know he will talk with the current coaches, as well. This coach will run whatever fits the talent of these players, however I know there will be multiple sets and some things Meigs is not accustomed to seeing offensively. I also know he has based from a 4-4 and 4-3 in the past, depending on the kids he has. One thing is for sure, there will be alot of pressure on their offense and chances to make impact plays defensively. As far as the current coaching staff, I feel they will be very impressed with the direction he will take them and really enjoy coaching on his staff. I am really excited for those guys. The main thing here is.....don't let those kids transfer if they are hungry to play and have good attitudes! You guys handle that in the interim until this announcment is made.
  3. For the record, he is a multiple 4-3 attack style defense and he is an oc/dc in his previous stints as well as head coaching experience. On his last staff, he had 7 coaches that were not inside the school system. This includes the oc and dc, too. I know he has already spoken to both of them to come on board as well. This guy has a large circle of friends in the area that are willing to help him out in major roles so don't pigeon hole yourselves into teaching positions. I am telling you guys, there are three or four coaches waiting in the wings (most of them already in the area) for this to occur. You guys can throw out the fifty defense and you can throw out 3 yards and a cloud of dust because there is a change coming!!!!!!! Be prepared for zone schemes, play action passing and multiple formations on offense and lots of blitzing on defense out of a multiple 4-3/4-4 scheme.
  4. NBC, I have heard good things about Coach Holliday and I hope he will be able to serve under the new staff. It will be good for the kids to have some local coaches still on board and I hope this is the case. I hope you will spread the word inside Meigs Co. to keep these players holding steady for a few more days and then they will see it was worth the wait. I have been through a few of these changes before with staffs/coaches/administration and this seems like one that has been very frustrating to all parties involved. Stay tuned as we are getting closer to next week's announcement......
  5. I considered not even saying anything until the ink is wet but I saw on your boards where kids were leaving the program and I don't want to see them miss a great opportunity. Your administration has done a great job of keeping this out of the public eye and this has been a rather quick turnaround. His name is nowhere on your boards and I can also understand your frustration as it looks like you guys have been through it regarding coaching interviews. The reason I have not named him is simple, until the ink is on the paper....nothing is final. The paperwork is scheduled to be signed after Memorial Day as he is coming from out-of-state to sign. There is already a verbal agreement and he will be house-hunting on Monday with me. I know you guys see a ton of rumors but I can assure you, your administration has served you well, very well.
  6. I am a new poster and have coached with your next head coach. For anyone considering transferring, stop and listen. He will be named in the next six days and I will tell you a little bit about him. I am not going to say his name as to not put the administration under the gun as final details are ironed out. He turned a perennial losing program into a power in two years, changed many young men's life direction because of his leadership and concern for their well-being, pushed the kids academically and athletically beyond their own expectations, produced an "offensive player of the year" in year two, sent numerous kids onto college through athletic scholarships, and truly loves bringing the best out of each kid. As far as coaching style goes, you can guarantee a hard-nosed, attack style defense. PRESSURE is the focus and playing through four quarters. Special teams were always a focus and won three consecutive games on his first playoff run. Offensively, expect a multiple set offense with a punishing running game that produced 4,000 yards of offense in year two, 3k on the ground and 1k in the air. His offenses were always on the cutting edge and produced five thousand yard rushers and two thousand yard passers in three years. I am very excited for your school and for your county. He will truly impact your team, community and your students. I also know he has also surrounded himself with great coaches and he is not bashful about bringing in very experienced coaches who will transform and teach the young men. Best of luck and I hope that you will spread the word....don't transfer as there is a coach who will make each athlete better than when they started!
