  1. Well, Well....one down, many more to go! Here are mine, I want yours..... 1. Top Team.....Oakland/Smyrna.....too close to tell. 2. Top Offensive Player...Mathers from Blackman 3. Top Defensive Player...Meadows from Smyrna 4. Biggest Surprise.....Independence over Siegel! Or is this really a surprise? 5. Biggest Surprise II....Riverdale threw like 3 passes! Or is this really a surprise? Other thoughts....Lavergne dissapoints versus Brentwood...not that they lost, but thought it would be closer. My Standings... 1. Smyrna/Oakland - neck in neck 3. Blackman/Riverdale - neck in neck 5. Siegel 6. Lavergne Can't wait to hear your thoughts!! What was your biggest surprise, etc.?
  2. Here are my revised rankings based on newspaper accounts, hearsay and word of mouth (makes all this real reliable). 1. Oakland - saw them scrimmage. Speed Galore, offensive weapons, not as impressive upfront, but geez, how do u improve from last years down 4? Bring in Haynesworth? McDaniel would cut him!! Ha 2. Smyrna - The Dogs are barking, season finale at OHS for District Championship. Here's my question though, if they go 8-2 and beat OHS and OHS is 9-1, who gets higher seed? 3. Siegel - Surprise, Surprise. I hear they beat MBA in a scrimmage. Going to watch them this week. People say they are physical and Dunaway may be best in district. 4. Riverdale, Blackman - saw RHS verse Mcgavock on friday. RHS was clearly better(surprise), however if they were like me they probably couldn't concentrate due to RHS ugly gold practice jerseys!! Blackman from all reports was close to gallatin (whom I hear smyrna dismantled?), mathers is a beast I hear, not sure on rest. 6. Lavergne - have not seen them and not much in paper, so hard to truly rate them. Heard they went to goodpasture, but honestly I haven't seen them. Only reason for me to go that far is The Catfish House! Ha.
  3. Rate the district coaching staffs and why, (not just the HC here, rate the staffs) I know LODs last place staff....ha ha. Almost football time!!!!
  4. I just got to give everyone a BIG thumbs up so far for your posts, I don't agree with all of them, but would it be fun if we all agreed!!! A bunch of great posts so far. I think to this point we can all agree on the following.... 1) Oakland really appears to have things going the right way....they have great support from admin., plenty of coaches, facilities and solid athletes. 2) Big things could come out of Smyrna...experienced QB, gamebreaker at TB....questions though are offensive identity, and up front folks.... 3) Lavergne has an influx of excitement with new coach, however, still some doubters due to the sheer numbers of staff it takes to compete in district 7AAA, they are going to have to build that thing slowly. 4) Blackman, Riverdale are both looking for a QB to lead their respective teams, other spots appear to be solid. 5) Siegel is flying under radar a bit. That's good for new staff, will allow them to maybe sneak up on some folks with low expectations. 6) LOD will not be sending Riverdale staff a christmas card! Hate to see a guy down coaches, but I do admire his passion for football and I think he secretly hopes RHS boys put it together and whip up on whole league... KEEP POSTING!!!!
  5. 2010 will be here soon, let's beat Murphy Fair with some predictions in the Ruth. Co District. Gives some reasons to back up your opinion too... How many teams get in? 3? 4? Here's my picks... 1. Oakland - Adams, Mayberry, mitchell, could b potent on offense. Lost McAdoo, Coffey 2. Riverdale - not sure on this one, QB???, lots of JR. Talent though and some SR lineman. 3. Smyrna - Bryson is electric, but has to be plugged in, Meadows and QB are All-District type guys 2, could jump to #2 if bryson is on money. 4. Blackman - lost a lot of names, still got Patton and Thompson. 5. Siegel - lost a lot of names, solid on Defense, young QB maybe? 6. Lavergne - don't know much on them, so have to stick em here, always athletic though. Is this race close or is it the big three and then a big gap between everyone else?
