  1. He coached at FHS for 3 seasons and was not really successful until his final year. However, he was able to get his teams to get hot at the right time every year. They always played well in the postseason, making it to at least the district championship game each season he was there.

  2. His game is small ball, good defense, and unpredictable pitch-calling. He will have the kids spend at least 30 minutes each day bunting, he will relentlessly drill basic fielding fundamentals, and he will make sure the pitching staff is able to throw any pitch in any count. The kids bought in at FHS and his style took them all the way to state. If he has a good group of kids over at Morristown that will buy in, he could be very successful.

  3. This district will come down to the Franklin vs. Brentwood series. They are the two most talented teams in the district, but will both probably still drop a game or two to Centennial or Ravenwood along the way. The Rebels and Bruins are pretty even talent-wise. Franklin holds the edge in the puitching department, especially with their depth in the rotation. There is not much of a drop-off between any of Franklin's top starters, while Brentwood lacks a quality arm outside of Shelton. However, Brentwood has a stronger line-up hitting-wise. They have most of the top contributers back aside from Ashcraft, and should put up a lot of runs this season. Ravenwood and Centennial should battle for third, with Indy and Hilsboro taking 5th and 6th. I'm interested to see how Indy looks this year after losing nearly everyone off their state team last year. Still, the biggest question in this district will be whether or not Hilsboro can go 7 innings with any of the district teams this year.

  4. well if he said that it is his fault cause all he care about is some of the seniors. some guys try to get in in practice and he take us out cause we not one of his baby boys I think our team be better next year cause we will be a team instead of just a QB.

Just to let everyone know, rebel0741 is NOT on the Franklin football team, he just gets on here to try and make FHS look bad. I'm sure he will reply to this arguing otherwise using his usual faked terrible grammar, but let me assure he is not and never has been a part of the Franklin football team.

  5. Should be a great game between two very good football teams. Both teams have improved since their last meeting, especially offensively. Should be another physical, low-scoring football game. Look for the team that wins the turnover battle to come out on top.

  6. Brentwood is much better than Franklin. Brentwood 21-17, but the game won't be as close at the score. Franklins lack of discipline will haunt them.

So Brentwood is much better than Franklin but you only predict them to win by 4? That makes sense. Franklin and Brentwood are similar football teams: both have good defenses and inconsistent, but at times very potent, offenses. Brentwood runs the ball better but Franklin has a better air attack. I'm curious as to why you think Brentwood is so much better than Franklin, especially when you look at their common opponents:

    1. Smyrna beat Brentwood by 3 TDs in a game that was never close, Franklin lost in double overtime in a gam thy should have one.

    2. Indy beat Brentwood by 6, Franklin lost by 2 on a late-game safety.

    3. Both teams blew out Ravenwood

    4. Both teams starters' beat CHS by 3 tds.

    5. Both teams beat Hilsboro handily, with BHS playing better offensively and Franklin better defensively.

They are both solid football teams, but I give FHS the edge here because of their defense (their starting defense has given up 1 touchdown in the last 7 games combined).

  7. This is a joke. Yeah your QB must be kinda good if hes going to Syracuse but still pretty overated. His biggest problem this year is that he has no talent around him. The rebels are deffinitly down big time in the talent deparment this year compared to the past. Im pretty sure the indy d isnt gunna loose to much sleep over this supposed high power offense that just dosnt produce in points during there games and just has a bunch of turnovers.

No, what's a joke is Indy's offense. If Franklin QB is only kinda good and he's got a D1 offer and numerous other D1 looks I would love to hear your assessment of Indy's quarterback, or any other player in the district for that matter (him and Foster are the only 2 I know of with D1 offers). If you had actually watched the Rebels this year, I think your comments might be a little different. To say the QB has no around him is an ignorant statement, as the Rebels return nearly all of their main playmakers (including their top 2 receivers) back from last year aside from their running back. And the running back they have this year is averaging over 100 yards a game so I don't think they are lacking in talent their. Does the Franklin offense have a major problem with penalties or turnovers? Yes. Are they an offense Indy should not worry about? No. As a Franklin fan, I hope Indy will overlook them.....they will lose by 20. The Indy defense better be well prepared next Friday because I don't see Indy's offense putting up more than 3 against a stout Rebel defense.

  8. How bad was coffee county? For a mediocre Indy offense to hang 68 points on them they must have been atrocious. The real measure for Indy will be when they play Franklin, and I just don't think they have the offense to hang with the rebels right now. Their defense is one of the best around, second only to Franklin and the Rutherford county schools. Their defense will keep them in the game against FHS, but their offense doesn't have the firepower to do much on a Franklin defense that held Smyrna to 7 points in regulation (that lone touchdown coming on a short field after a fumble, I might add). The fact is Indy hasn't scored on Franklin in three years, and their offense hasn't improved too much from last year. Indy has jumped Brentwood in the district this year, but they have not reached Franklin's level just yet.

  9. I went to a private and Franklin never had a prayer beating us. From what I understand, Centennial tackles their problems head on, not hiding them. Franklin HS is a disgrace. When the Centennial student section charges the field at the end of the game to go to the visitors side and cuss and shoot birds, then you might be able to say Centennial is worse than Franklin. Until them, you probably

should stop defending horrible, classless behavior. Charge the field to celebrate a win with your team, but to go to the other side to behave so crassly is pathetic. Franklin High School is out of control. I believe the NCAA calls it a lack of instituitional control. The inmates are running the prison at dear old FHS.

Which high school? And if you went there why are you sp concerned with fhs and CHS now? The reason you will never see centennial fans rush the field against Franklin is because you have to actually WIN the game to do that. So we really don't know what CHS fans would do in case of a win. You are clearly either a CHS fan or player who is extremely jealous of Franklin and has something against the administration there. Until you can tell us what high school you played for and explain why you are now a cougar fan and has something against FHS this is what everyone on here is gonna believe

  10. I have never been beaten by Franklin. I am not a player for CHS. I am a team player in supporting them. Franklin was the homecoming game for my high school and we never lost.

The wind blew it over?? Thats too funny and too stupid

to believe. To be that dumb and blind, you are qualified to be an administrator at Franklin. Huk, maybe you are.

I was at the game, it said heck yeah for homecoming, good try though. Franklin is th worst behaved school in the district? maybe you should check the amount of suspensions and ALC sentences handed out at CHS every year. What high school did you play for? Because i can't remember any out-of-district team (which it must of been, since the game was played at your place every year for homecoming) beating Franklin repeatedly?

  11. The question is how do you define "for real"? If by for real you mean can Indy finish 2nd in the district this year and maybe when a game in the playoffs then yes, they are for real compared to last year. But if you think they have a chance to win the district and make a deep run in the playoffs you are sadly mistaken. The fact is Indy does not have the offense to compete with Franklin and the Rutherford county schools. Yes I understand they played Blackman close, but that was the first week of the season. When you watch Indy play Franklin this year and when they play some real competition in the playoffs, you will see a good defense with a mediocre offense only gets you so far. Besides; any team that gives up 22 to centennial and only wins by 2 can't be seen as a legitimate contender.

  12. Franklin wins 14-0, but it wasn't that close. Franklin's defense pitches another shutout, and while they did give up a couple long drives they did not give up anything once Hilsboro gt past midfield. Franklin's offense was the opposite, they seemed to struggle every time they got into opponent's territory. The real storyline was that Hilsboro had about 12 fans in the stands, pretty bad for a team that won state a few years ago. Franklin hosts Smyrna next week, should be a big test for the Rebels.

  13. I think it is a foregone conclusion that FHS wins this one. I just hope you guys, with those two silver balls and 100 years of football experience go easy on poor, little, young, iexperienced Centennial. I wonder why the game is even played. Maybe beating 5A schools will help Franklin build its confidence so maybe they can one day actually win a state championship. Well, not really. You got beat by the only 6A team you have played this year, and they are not considered very good either.

Inexperienced? Centennial's seniors are just as old as Franklin's. You keep bringing up this 100 years thing, but I don't think those guys who played 99 years ago are gonna help Franklin win this football game. CHS has been around long enough (14 years) to get their program together. Heck, Indy and Ravenwood got to the state championship within the first 5 years of their existence. Stop crying that FHS has been around longer, the fact is Centennial has some of the most athletic guys in the district and still can't beat Franklin or Brentwood. Yes, Franklin plays four 5A teams. But let's look at those 5A teams: 2 they are required to play because they are inside the district (Hilsboro and CHS), one went to the state championship game last year (Hendersonville), and one went 8-4 last year and advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs (Lawrence County). Franklin will win by 30 Friday night, and you will probably post something about how CHS will be beat FHS in the FUTURE. And then you'll probably bring up the PAST, and say FHS has never won a state championship. And you know what, I don't think any of the FHS players will care what any of the players did 100 years before them, they're just gonna be excited they emberrassed Centennial for the 15th consecutive year. But hey, those Centennial players can still celebrate too (according to your logic) because they have won the same amount of state titles as Franklin! I'm sure that will make them feel all better. It's funny how fans of bad teams can only seem to talk about the future and the past, and never the present. Oh wait, don't you root for Independence? No, it's Centennial this year. Wouldn't be surprised if it was FHS or BHS by the end of the season the way you like to ride bandwagons! Can't wait to hear your response, i'm sure you'll use a 1000 words to say nothing like usual!

  14. Well I guess I am not most. Our defense was fine last year and inFACT it was pretty darn good! I think with as many players as we have back that someone needs to get them in the right spot and lets get to playing Rebel Defense.

All I know is your so called "hasn't been the same" has been average at best at his new place. I think I remember a few teams scoring nearly 70 in one game. Get with the team pylon and quit trying to cause problems!

I agree with te fact that the defense will come around, they have too many talented players off a group that was very strong last year to not succeed. The coaches are just looking to find the right scheme right now, hopefully they can figure it out by Smyrna week. But I have to disagree with you on your comment about Donnie. Donnie Webb is a phenomenal defensive mind (in addition to being on of the nicest people you will ever meet) and any program that loses some one of his caliber will definitely be affected. That is not to say Franklin can not have a great defense without him (which I think they will have by season's end), but losing him was definitely a blow to the Rebels.

  15. I said 35-17 so we right on the same score. I don't think they will be able to stop our passing game either. Kuiv will have a big night for Thursday Night Lights!

Look for Franklin to do whatever they want offensively, and while Hendersonville score some points, i think the Franklin defense builds off their second half at Siegel.

    FHS- 31

    HHS- 14

  16. You are on here constantly and it took you 18 hours to come op with this response to me? This is the best you could do?

I knew you wouldnt let me down. Ignorance is so predictable.

You give me the finger and tell me I need anger management? Thats too funny.

Please show me somewhere that I attacked first. You cant, but when I respond to an attack, I step hard. I squish bugs like you with ease.

Taco, i get that you don't attackothers unless some one attacks you first, and I'm not attacking you here, but could you please just bite your lip for a change and stop clogging up every franklin thread with one of your personal debates. I am tired of getting on here and reading you say the same things over and over in arguments with different people. If you can't handle people disagreeing with you, or "attacking" you as you call it, then don't post. At least not on here, go to a Centennial thread. Again, I'm not attacking, so don't come back with some response that you try to stay on topic and you only respond to others, I've heard it at all before. I'm just asking politely for you to stop directing your posts at others, and instead focus on football. No need to respond or quote this post, in fact please don't respond at all, you can start your new ways now. Thanks in advance for complying taco, from me and from all of us.

  17. Freshmen stuff doesn't mean squat but I can tell you that Centennial made that undefeated run with an ALL freshmen squad. The only reason I recall is because that team was dubbed "The Dirty Dozen and a half plus two". There were only 20 kids total. I didn't see all the games from the stands but was there to watch them against Brentwood and Franklin. The key was the QB scrambling to either take off running or dump off to short routes. No one could catch the kid. Some of those guys are still with the team as seniors now. We'll see if anything translates over to varsity success.

I saw the Centennial freshmen team play that year and I can assure you they had more than 20 players...

  18. How many ways can you prepare crow? I was way off on this one. Looks like the Stars are much better than i thought and are no longer a sure win on anyone's schdeule. Congrats on a big win.

Way off? Siegel one by 5 and probably would have lost if not for a big play with a few minutes left.

  19. So everybody lines up to play Lavergne? I have one thing to say about Franklin Football TOOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOW to compete in this District! I like Franklin High School and have many friends in admistration there. But something has happened at FHS. In just a few short years the athleticism has plummeted and not just in football but across the board. I understand that some zoning issues have affected them quite a bit. But your premise is wacked! :popcorneater:

They seemed fast enough to compete (and defeat) Oakland, one of the perennial powerhouses out of the Murfreesboro district. I'll admit Franklin doesn't have great team speed, but speed only goes so far. Coaching, discipline, and overall football ability will overcome a lack of speed. The fastest team Franklin played last year was Fairley out of Memphis; the starters were out before halftime. Franklin was slower than just about every team they played in 2008, and still managed to make the state title game. Speed's important, but any educated high school football fan will tell you it's only part of the puzzle. See the state championship game last year, where Smyrna was faster than Maryville at just about every position. Should be a good game this week, I see Fraklin winning in a close one.
