Won't be any mercy rule in play this week.

Breaking News.......
Gordonsville will win as Wayne Co. football players accidentally lock themselves in the boys' room after smoking some camel non-filters. They can't make it to kickoff, and Gordonsville advances.
Lol. when i played we had players who smoked before practice. Of course we did have a designated smoking area then. Always had a good game of pitching quarters going as well. I was pretty good at that. To top that off had my gun proudly displayed in my gun rack in my truck so I could go hunting after school. All the guys had to come by and see your gun. My how things have changed.

89, you ought to be a politician. You wrote a whole paragraph and managed to effectively not answer the question. LolIt's hard to say, WC is losing some great athletes and you don't just replace players like many of our seniors like Rice, Birchette, Prince, Mathis and Ruddle to name a few but the thing is WC has lost great players every year and there's always younger ones ready to step in and take over. You gotta give the credit for that to the coaches, every kid from elementary and up can't wait to play for coach Rice and coach Crews. The varsity even go to the elementary school at 7:30 on the mornings of home games and do the bus line and get the kids out of the cars and escort them into school, the young ones love it. WC also has a good group of sophomores and juniors with many of them starting now and a sophomore qb that has took about as many snaps as Rice due to the huge halftime leads that runs the offense really well. But to honestly answer your question only time will tell

I'll worry about next year next year. Still got to finish this thing off Friday. Go cats.

I heard some rumblings from some WC fans that expect somewhat of a let down this week after the big win last week against Huntingdon. If we are as flat as we were against McEwen I think it will be a similar score to the Mcewen game. If we come out hot and ready to roll I look for it to get ugly. Either way we win but biggest thing is come out injury free for the playoff run.

Preston Rice has started every game on defense
Yes he has and he supports the run very well and covers the underneath routes very well. Has good instincts and jumps the routes. His weakness would be if has to turn and run with a faster receiver.

Completely different team. #44 and #11 are 2 of the best athletes on the team and they didnt play last year. Last years team had a huge senior line on both sides of the ball. This years team is one of fastest teams ever but lacks in size. All skill players are very good and experienced. Lineman are getting better every week. Lots of speed on defense. If young guys up front can give backs some protection should be a great game. Was very impressed with WC lines last year. How many starters are back for WC?
Thanks for the update. i remember you guys being banged up last year. I'm WC all the way but even though we return most of the oline from last year I don't think this years defense is near as good as last year. One of our linebackers this year was a defensive lineman last year and I think he is a much better d-lineman than linebacker. We lost two stud linebackers last year and I think thats the biggest difference between this Defense and last years defense. If they can keep Rice upright and it doesn't rain I really like our chances. If it comes down to the run game for both then I just don't know. The teams we both have played have been so weak it's hard to get a good read on our team. Go cats.

I'm curious. Does the Huntingdon faithful think that this years team is better than last years team? Healthier as a team for the game?

Loretto better get it going or the mercy train is coming.

Beat Down! Mt Pleasant is really struggling. It will be over before half.
-
I know that our field has to be in the worst condition in the state. Right now it looks like more rain next week and possibly Friday. The game last night was the mud bowl and I can't imagine what the field looks like today.

Ballgame! Very tough football team, play with a lot of heart! WC defense the difference in this one.
WC defense and our quarterback and receivers. There D line held us in check and we never did get wide on them either. I agree the most physical team that we have played. If it wasn't for our #5 we might still be playing.

2009 is what I think Is the best team we have ever had besides '11. Lost to Union City by I think 10 at our house in the Semi's that yr. Man that was a heartbreaking game!
2009 team had more offensive weapons than 2011 overall. The difference in 2009 and 2011 to me was the hogs up front. 2011 offensive and defensive lines were the best we've ever had I think. That's where you win it 95% of the time. I remember Union City 4 yards at a time over and over on the 2009 team and we just wore down. Did the very same thing the next week to win it all with a big offensive line and man of a running back. I would have liked to see the 2011 d-line have a crack at them. Also, the 11' team had been together for so long and won at every level and they just refused to lose. I don't think it really entered there minds that they might lose.

WC just needs to go out and play their game and play it with the same intensity they played with last week! WC has been a very physical football team for several years now and it showed up last week after playing a little to relaxed the first couple weeks this year for me! WC 42 Riverside-7
I want to trust your judgement 89 but I'm thinking it will be much closer than 42-7. I for sure think we win just closer than that. We'll see soon enough.

He was number 41 and yes he did get a 10 point the next morning. I don 't know how he got up after such an emotional game. Probably didn't go to bed.Was that number 4? As I recall that boy was hard to bring down. It was a cold Friday night and a great game. I still say that if WC had won that game they would have beaten SP the next week for the title. I also remember something about him killing a nice buck the next morning if my memory serves me right. Either way that was a memorable night.

Wayne Co was undefeated in 09 and I thought they would be state champs hands down, and WC had always been a veer running team up until Tyler Rice became qb and they started throwing a lot more but what I'm saying is WC knows the veer. Needless to say UC came to town for the semi finals and it was a good game til halftime and then in the second half UC mopped the field with us. Be weary of how confident you are on here when it comes to UC! You'll be eating crow and it don't taste good!
I would not say mopped the field. The final was 31-21 I think and we had five or six turnovers. But when it mattered the most we could not stop them. 3-4 yards every play over and over. UC did the same thing to South Pitt the next week, There going to pound on you so get ready.

Wildcatalumni, it's not to late for you to go back to school and get that teaching/coaching certification. That ought to feed that addiction.

WC success is going to come down to whether or not they can get some lineman to step up, I been thinking this for two years and that's why I argued with you about next year being WC's year. If WC had stayed healthy this year I think it would have been the best team they will field for a couple years. WC will be loaded with skill players next year but can't name one starting lineman as of right now.
I would say that next year we struggle with the stronger teams with all the new o-lineman but gain valuable experience. I'm thinking we will have a better overall team the next year even though we loose very good skilled players. You know me, I'm all about the play at the line of scrimmage. The team that wins that usually wins.
-
Also, has anything been said about Coach Pierce retiring? He had told me 3 years ago that when Lucas was done that he would probably step away.
-
I don't know guys I'm concerned about the O line and D line next year. I'm sure we will win a bunch of games just with our backfield that returns but you win in November at the line of scrimmage. We need studs up front to make a real run.
-
Looks like the lions share of folks think Wayne County will come out on top. Let's see some score predictions. Here's mine:
NCS 52
Wayne County 20
Put some numbers behind all those I think we cans.
I the way I read it people think NCS will win. We know we got our work cut out for us.

He did a good job. He was forced to the line when 53 had a stress fracture in his leg. 53 did practice this week so the running back should be back to his usual position. That's what I thought - that's way too many to have go down. We only have 1 starter that we lost to injury. That's really impressive though that you are 8-2 with all those injuries. Some young guys deserve recognition for stepping up.
How's the RB doing that moved to the O-line? That's a team player there.
-
I m sure that's true with most teams. However, if we can get the win Friday and when we meet you guy's again we will be without 71,74,81,10,42 who all started that last time we played. It sucks that you guys aren't 100% as a team for a playoff run. Still think you could go the semis. I guess nobody's 100% at this point though.
-
Can anyone tell me if he has any offers? He has the strength to play at the college level now. Coaches told him to cool it in the weight room for fear he was going to hurt himself. You should see the boy in the weight room, he is a man for sure when he gets his hands on some weights! He is very impressive, especially when he is 100 percent!
Dresden Verses Wayne County
in Class 1A & Class 2A
Posted
I got to watch some Dresden film today. Up to this point I had only heard and read reports of how good their team was. The film doesn't lie and they look big, fast and physical. This is shaping up to be a good one. Go cats and hope for an injury free game.
