  1. I like the idea of public and private mixed, I hate that when playoffs start the private schools only have to win three games, matches, etc and could win state, when a private might have to win twice as many. I know overall middle/east tn. is better than west/memphis, but over here in Memphis the big, good city schools can hang with MUS and Cbhs. It's a hard question to ponder, and some here act like the private schools don't recruit. It happens, some schools more than others.

  2. The reason the SAT scores are higher, is because most all Tn. students take the ACT, because that's what local colleges require. The kids taking the SAT are usually the ones looking to go to schools in other areas of the country, they are usually higher GPA kids.

  3. Brothers, CBHS brought a great crowd and the atmosphere was just fantastic. It was a great win for Baylor to get back to the championship game. I am sure it was a very tough loss for the players of CBHS..I know it doesn't help but they played a great game. It was just a very good football game. But Baylor has got to hold onto the ball....3 fumbles and one interception....happening too often. Thanks for your comments and good luck next year.

Yes, like most games mistakes make a big difference . The pick six was huge, blocked and missed FG, Baylor played well and will need a better game against Ensworth. Hope we get to play next year.

  4. Good game Baylor, it was a tough loss for our guys. I thought it was a great atmosphere, great crowd. We brought two times the fans BA brought to CBHS. That was a close game, and your boys won it. Good luck in the championship.

  5. I agree CBHS played very well for 3 quarters. But "packed it in way too early" depends on which side of the fence you are on. From my side, BA opened up their passing game and CBHS could not stop it.

I think most fans from both sides agree that BA was sluggish for the first 3 quarters, but that doesn't take away from the the play and execution of CBHS. Those were two very good teams and is another example of how tough this league is every week

Yes, no doubt, BA was bringing it, and if there was another few minutes your guys might have won.

  6. Live streaming begins at 6:40 (7PM kickoff) on the Baylor Broadcasting Network.

    Also - Bay 38 CBHS 13

I think it was more of BA playing god-awful for 3 quarters last week than it was CBHS playing well.

I can't argue the score you predict, but CBHS played very well for 3 quarters, and packed it in way to early. BA, didn't play their best, but found out it was going to be a hard hitting game. They got that surprised look, and started the late hits and after the play pushing many team do when they were expecting an easy win.

  7. Hey guys, I'm excited to be coming to the Baylor campus I've heard so much about. I think it will be a good game, we just seem to be a tough little team. I know Baylor is a clear favorite, as they should be. We seem to be bringing a nice little crowd from what I hear, it will be fun, I hope the trip home will be cheerful.

  8. My apologies - Final was 37 - 34 (I admit to flipping the live feed off when CB took the ball over after BA missed the 4th down and CB was taking a knee . . .). Aparenlty BA go the ball back on a bad punt snap and scored with a few seconds left). Maybe good I flipped it off . . . not sure my heart could have taken any more.

That's right, bad snap or fumbled punt, deep in our end, BA scored with about 5 or 10 seconds left.

  9. Final was 37-34, BA didn't show up until 10 minutes in the game, that's about the time we thought it was over. Wow, I was surprised by this game, we played the best we've played all year, and BA I'm sure did not play close the their best. See you in Chattanooga next week.

  10. B.A. Seems to have an easier road, doings round should be easy, and I think they won't have much trouble with my CBHS guys, we lost one of our better players the other night, which won't make much difference. B.A. Could make the finals easy. Don't take the boys at MUS lightly, they are playing well right now. I don't understand the weakness of the west teams lately, not including MUS. CBHS has lacked size in the last few years, and doesn't use what they have and that's numbers.

  11. Arguably one of the best rivalries in TN. On paper CBHS has more balance on offense but the MUS 'D' looks strong. This may come down to a field goal, with the edge to the home team Owls. Go Brothers!

I agree 100% MUS is battle tested, and the Brothers are mistake prone. The team studs at Cbhs have fumbled, dropped passes, and not played there best. I hope this changes this week.

  12. Here is my take....".

    Arlington over Craigmont.......close

    Ecs over bcs

    East over Central

Now the tough one for me.............MUS over CBHS.....my sons team. MUS has played huge games and is ready, CBHS is ok this year, but not sure they are ready for this. I hope I'm wrong about this game.

    Gtown over Collierville easily.

    Ridgeway beats Wooddale.

I haven't a clue about FACS and Harding.....I'll say Harding close

    And Millington rolls over Cordova

St. Benedict will be watching the MUS v. CBHS game close.

  13. Im really looking forward to this game. I saw the MUS scrimmage vs Ridgeway and they looked very good. I havent seen Ensworth play. But this MUS team looks like a state championship caliber team. Im hoping MUS will pull off a victory.

Yes, I heard MUS really looked good against Ridgeway( likely Memphis' best team last year) I have no idea what Ridgeway may have lost in players. One thing I,ve noticed over the years is the public schools here start a little slower, due to the lack of year round training.

No doubt, MUS should be the class of the d2 west. Watch for the St. Benedict running back Jordan Wilkins, he is a JR. Has offers from UT, Ole Ms, Memphis, and more to come.

  14. Wow, I wish I could see this battle, this should be the game of the week in the state for week one. I will be at CBHS V. Wooddale, should be a good game too, Wooddale has one of the best backs in the state, Jovan Robinson, I think that's his name. We CBHS, might struggle this year, small inexperienced line.

MUS and Ensworth, preview of state championship?

  15. I have to go with KWC's picks Trezevent, Ridgeway, Whitehaven, St. Georges, and Webb. As a father of a son who has played 3 of these teams(In the games, I know they will all bring their A game. Don't do like our guys did last week and leave it at home( CBHS plain and simple were crap, what a way to finish a good year). Good luck to all and do Memphis proud!
