  1. who would you like to see hired? for the record this would be coach cook's 4th job in the past 12 years, right?

Cook has taken a promotion every time, this is standard operating procedure. The guys you have to watch are the ones that jump from school to school in a lateral move in title/responsibility. Just something to think about

  2. heard from a pretty good source that the admin is leaning towards an old rhea co boy as of today. probably not the one that most of yall want.

also for what it's worth: "taw jackson" posts haven't been funny in over a year.

So sorry you got your panties in a wad, maam.

  3. Who in the world is Taw Jackson?

Surely you jest?!?! Taw Jackson is quite simply a gift from the football gods. If you could morph Vince Lombardi, Bear Bryant, and George Quarrels into 1 man, his name would be Taw. My advice to the Rhea County brass: take a dump truck full of $100 bills and empty it on Taw's front step and beg him to coach the Eagles. Taw would create a direct pipeline from Evensville to the SEC and then NFL for the lucky few to tap in to his vast football reservoir. Bill Billechick calls Taw for advice. Nick Saban takes a knee when Taw enters a room. I could go on for days......

  4. Does anyone know if we are looking to have a coach in place to keep the current Spring practice schedule? This does not need to drag out into the summer as we will have kids skipping workouts and falling through the cracks. Considering all factors involved, I think Jerry Cook makes the most sense. Local guy, good coach, not a flight risk. Coach Greene said all of the right things but made no attempt to be a part of the community. Let's not forget to be supportive of these players because some of these boys will be playing for their 3rd coach in 4 years.

  5. This thread is always fun. I agree with the politics affecting sports other than football in this county. Certain school board members and other members of RC DOE are way too involved in athletics in general. I am a fan of letting the AD and top principal of the school make the decision.

That being said, somebody throw out some names of potential candidates for the job. Everyone seems to have good things about Rhea County native Jerry Cook. Walt Cameron's name has came up (maybe in sarcasm, maybe not). Both have Rhea County ties and have since moved on to other schools. The only thing for certain is that interum coach Tommy Mitchell will not be the head coach in the fall. You can bet on that!

    I've got 2 words for you........1) Taw 2)Jackson

Somebody please pick up the phone and make the call

  6. Im checkn in to see what the flavor of the Kool-Aid is for my buddy Doug.....sour grapes.....cmon man let him soar like an Eagle.....Eagle4 :?:

Watching the product that Dooley, I mean Greene, has put on the field the last couple years has left many with a bad taste in their mouth.

  7. Word on the street is Greene is on the move. Can we possibly pull Taw Jackson out of retirement? I would love to see a local guy come in and unite a fragmented fan base. This would be the perfect time to make a fresh start with the new district alignment. I guess I would settle for Gruden if Taw can not be persuaded. Thoughts?????

  8. Well hello bumb*** where you been? There are guys walking the halls that could possibly help Rhea County sports. But you have to have a coach they are willing to play for and you have to have parents. It's not like the old days. Kids now a days are more interested in video games and drugs. Not high school sports.

You are correct again Beagle4, this might be a record. It takes the whole community (coaches, players, parents and and fans) taking responsibility to make things better. In the good ole days you didn't even have to ask kids to play, but its not that way anymore. There are plenty of programs that are finding the recipe for success every year. It can be done, we have to quit thinking like the good ole days, those days are gone. 1) Adapt and adjust 2) get kids out playing ball 3)work the kids hard but let them know you have their back 4) Hire Taw Jackson, we would have to order more uniforms for all of the boys wanting to be in the presence of excellence in its purest form.

  9. In all honesty we should have won a few more games. Just saying.

You are correct for once Beagle4, seems like Coach has had difficulty motivating his guys. There are boys walking the halls at RCHS that should be recruited as well. We need something, or somebody, to get the boys excited about playing football again.

  10. If UT does't hire Taw Jackson to replace Dooley, do you think we could get him to coach the Eagles? He is a proven winner with a terrific football mind. He could build a program like Maryville has. When George Quarrels is talking into his headset during the games he isn't talking to his coaches in the press box, it is Taw Jackson on the other end.

  11. I am very concerned about the future of the program. I really don't like what I have seen the last couple years. We do not have championship talent on the team, but we have way too much talent to just win 3 games in 2 seasons. Coach got a pass in year 1 and he deserved it because of the timing and all the junk that went on before he came aboard. That was not his fault. My concern is the willingness of the kids to lay it on the line for Coach Green. It doesn't matter how many X's and 0's you know if you can not motivate your players. Don't mistake my words as an excuse to "baby" the players. You can be demanding and push the kids hard and still have them respect and play hard for you. If they don't truly believe you have their back, you will never get the boys to reach their full potential.

  12. Let's not kid our selves folks, the improvement is a direct result of TawJackson's presence. It is no coincidence that when Taw arrives, construction of facilities begin and artificial turf is placed on the field. I've even heard that when he steps on the practice field the temperature drops 20 degrees because he is that d##m cool!!!!!

  13.

I heard ole Taw Jackson didn't join staff he is over all staff. Head of football operations you say? You know if they would play that boy of his right we would be state champions? Well to hear him tell it. "Taw Jackson Football Complex", wonderful. Will there be a commemorative statue of Taw Jackson himself out front? Maybe a fountain with him in the middle?

Absolutely there will be a statue of our most treasured football commodity. The pigeons are even so aware of his prestige, they refuse to poop on his statue. Now that is respect my friends!!!! I've heard the statue is a life like mural of Taw ripping his hat to shreds as he is complaining about the coaching.
