  1. Agreed. I don't see any real competition for Science Hill until the state tournament. They are a very confident group for a roster with no seniors on it. They play very well together.
  2. stormy, you do realize that Science Hill is better than they were last year, right? Science Hill was just finding their footing last year. This year they are easily the most talented team in East TN. Just look at both of their records thus far. Science Hill is 16-0, and has beaten teams that Morristown East lost to. Didn't Morristown East just lose to South Greene? Science Hill would beat South Greene by at least 30. Morristown East also got blown out by Mt. Juliet last week, a team that Science Hill beat by 10.
  3. Sorry, but no one in the Big 8 or IMAC is even close to being on the same level as Science Hill.
  4. Thebballguru, Do you have a final score? Congratulations to the Lady Toppers on the win!
  5. Science Hill and Mt. Juliet meet tonight in the tournament championship game at 7:30. Science Hill beat Charlotte Christian 70-56 to advance, while Mt. Juliet beat Franklin County 52-37.
  6. Is that Cherokee/Craigmont score correct? What the heck?
  7. Science Hill is a scary bunch. No Seniors on a very talented team. They'll make it back to the Boro. Do they win it all this year? Not sure, but if they don't win it this year, they win it next year. Heck, they might go back-to-back as State champs.
  8. Having seen Science Hill play this year I can tell you they are the real deal. A solid team with a ton of talent. A very scary team to play come tourney time. They could win it all this year but I think next year's their best shot.
  9. Good win for the guys tonight over in Kingsport. Sole possession of first place now.
  10. Science Hill claimed sole possession of first place in the Big 8 tonight with a 60-44 win over DB in Kingsport. This one was a barn-burner for 3 and a half quarters, then SH began to wear the Indians down. It was a defensive struggle most of the game. SH forced a ton of Indian turnovers, many of which they weren't able to convert on. DB led 25-23 at halftime, and actually had an 8 point lead early in the 3rd quarter. SH came to life late in the 3rd though. Reed Hayes knocked down some huge 3 pointers and the route was on. Late in the 4th, SH actually had a 22 point lead. Good win for the Toppers. I'll be interested to see if the Indians can hang around again once Leveau is back for the Toppers.
  11. Science HIll is playing better TEAM ball this year. Last year the team looked to go to 3-4 players and that was it. Guys you didn't see much of last year are really stepping up this year. I like the way this team plays. You can tell they work hard and have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. I didn't have much faith in this year's team but they are surprising me. A good group that could really surprise some people if they continue to work and play hard.
  12. Finally got a chance to see the Science Hill girls the other night (I've been hearing a lot of talk about how good they are) and man do they look good. This is easily the most talented Lady Toppers team I've ever seen. I can't believe there's not a Senior on the team either. A very well-coached team with a TON of talent. Nobody in the Big 8 will be able to play them.
  13. Last night the Science Hill boys rolled into Bristol and beat TN High 67-49. I'd heard TN High was supposed to challenge the Toppers for the Big 8 crown this year. It doesn't look like it from that score. I'm more and more impressed with this young, relatively inexperienced Science Hill team each day. Science Hill is now 9-0 and hosts CAK Friday night.
  14. I haven't heard anything about Leaveau getting into any trouble but that doesn't mean it's not true. I hope it's just a rumor though. Has he even been cleared to play yet? I know there was a lot of talk that he might be out for the season, which would be a shame. This year's team does seem to be more "team-oriented". Last year so much of the focus was on Hale that I think they often forgot what it meant to play team ball. This year's team is full of a lot of great shooters. They might be one of the best 3 pt shooting teams I've seen in a while. The win against Bradley Central was definitely a good one. The Science Hill girls were expected to do well this year. I don't think them doing well really surprises anyone.
  15. Science Hill is now 6-0 with a 9 point win over Bradley Central last night. I've got to be honest, I thought that without Hale and Allen the Toppers weren't going to be very good this year. It looks like other players are stepping up though. They're surprising me. If they get Leveau back for the season this could be a very good team that just might surprise a lot of people.
  16. Just saw where Science Hill beat Bearden last night in the Kia Classic in Kingsport. Bearden was state runner-up last year. This seems like a pretty good early win for the young Hilltoppers.
  17. I have a hard time believing that last part. Cutlip would've done whatever it took to keep Allen. If Allen said play me at the 2 or I'm leaving then Cutlip would've played him at the 2. Cutlip was very upset when Allen and Hale decided to transfer.
  18. Will Adams-Science Hill Hunter Leveau(if he's cleared to play)-Science Hill Devon Swafford-DB. I've heard mixed reports on if this kid's playing this year. Not sure about the others but I heard TN High has a few good ones.
  19. Ah yeah, I did forget about CJ. As far as I know, yes he is playing this year. Has Tyler Miles always played basketball? Don't get me wrong, he'll be a monster on the inside but I don't remember him playing before...
  20. Hale and Allen both transferred to Christ the King School in NC. They did so because they felt they had a better opportunity to get a big-time D1 scholarship there. If I'm not mistaken the Plumlee brothers who play for Duke played there. A very good basketball program with top-notch academics.
  21. We can all predict DB's future. Roll through the conference and then choke in the playoffs. It's tradition.
  22. From what I've been told, the Big 8 will definitely be down this year. The loss of Hale and Allen at SH was a HUGE blow to that team. Apparently Leveau and Howard are battling injuries and won't be ready for a while. The bright spot for this team is that Junior PG Will Adams is back. He's a good one to watch. I've heard his brother Jahmar may also be playing this season. No idea if that's true or not. Freshman Malik McGue will be another one to watch on this team. He's got the talent. Is Trevon Fields still on the team? I'd heard some rumors back in the Spring that he was thinking of transferring. Is he's still on the team, he's another one to watch. They're a young group and are a lot more inexperienced then they were last year but I think they'll be okay. TN High should be pretty good from what I've heard. I think DB will be alright.
  23. No offense to anyone from Church Hill or Rogersville(I'm sorry but I'm really not that sure where Volunteer is),but as far as I know there's really not much to do in either of those particular towns on a Friday night, so catching a high school football game may be the best option. Johnson City is by no means NYC or LA but I know there's more to do there on a Friday night then there is in Church Hill or Rogersville. To the poster who said SH has had some years where they've won 6-7 games, yeah that's true. However, they may've won 3 the next year, 4 the year after that, and so on and so forth. There's no consistency. Fans want to see winning on a consistent basis, not just here and there. And yes, fans want to see them win the BIG games. Running over Central, Crockett, Volunteer isn't exactly something big crowds care anything about seeing. It's like seeing UT play MTSU or UT-Martin. Do the fans really care anything about seeing those games? No.
  24. I went to SH in the late 90s and the crowds were always pretty good back then. I haven't lived in the area since I graduated so I rarely get to games these days. It isn't rocket science to figure out why the crowd support there isn't great. They aren't a program that wins games, not until recently anyway. When you go multiple years winning 2-3 games a year, you can't expect a lot of support. You've got to show the crowd you can win, and win consistently, before they buy into it. The JC crowd hasn't bought into yet.
  25. Maryville will kill SH. The score will be especially bad if Carter has Snyder try and throw it all over the field. The Hill has a pretty good run game but their coach has yet to realize that.
