Chuckey Doak will be invaded by The Betsy Band, do you think their football team can beat them?
-
Quad winners alternates East West each year, it was Alcoas turn to play away. They get to play at home this year.If I remember correctly didn't Alcoa, an UNDEFEATED Region Champion, travel to Betsy last year? I understand that certain rules and procedures were in place and Betsy had nothing to do with playing at home, it's just the way it worked out.

Round 1 of the Playoff Winners
Quad 1 Winners
Happy Valley
Sullivan North
Chuckey Doak
Austin East
Quad 2 Winners
Alcoa
Howard
Tyner
CAK
Quad 3 Winners
Gooodpasture
Sequatchie County
Pearl Cohn
Smith County
Quad 4 Winners
Camden
Westview
Fairview
Milan
With common opponent Chuckey Doak 35-27 against Unicoi County. Elizabethton won 41-6 and did not play several key players because of injuries. The Cyclones have 3 excellent running backs and a QB with an arm that matched Eppley at CAK yard for yard. They beat North and Happy Valley and are 10-0 in the three rivers the past two years. They are mad because TASSAA in their screwed up system they are champions but they don't get a home playoff game. They will take it out on CD.
I think you missed that one.
Elizabethton. 56
Chuckey Doak 14

The possibility exists that T$$AA will see fit to separate CAK and Alcoa by moving CAK to quad 1... then they would be #1 seed.
They would have to bump South Green out and they beat the #2 or #3 team CD tonight 56-27. I don't think that will happen when there are 5 win teams in the running in Q2.
-
In Q1 I don't see HV winning over (2-9) JC putting them #2 over CD.
-
Here is how I see Quad 1 going.
#1 WG vs #8 SG
#2 CD vs #7 EHS
#3 HV vs #6 AE
#4 SN vs #5 GP
7 WIN TEAMS
WG
CD
HV
SN
GP
6 WIN TEAMS
AE
EHS
SG
Way to go TSSAA, with these parings the #8 team beat the #2 team 56-27 tonight, stand by for some exciting playoff games woo hoo.
There is even a chance South Green could be bumped out all together.

Wg is a 2 seed
I don't see HV beating JC (2-8) moving them above WG for #1 AE lost.
-
HV was up 21-14 in the 4th according to the sports monster.
looks like that was the final
-
Not looking to good for CD down 35 to 7 at the half.
-
You'd better pray you get that #1 Seed CD because thats the only way you will advance past game 1
Not so fast, with a #1 seed they get to play Elizabethton.
-
ehs has played three schools their size and got destroyed each time its sad they have to lie about enrollment numbers to play down
EHS.778
HV 616
Science Hill 2500+
Where should EHS play?
Greeneville 890
CAL 839
Vol 1174
Cloudland 377

It was senior night and coach Witten was letting the o-line senior players run full back. And a lot of second team seniors and freshmen play d in the 4th Qtr.
-
The TSSAA would still get their money because Alcoa's following is second to none. Heck, they would probably make more money because Alcoa would probably scrimmage the second and third Alcoa team and show a better game!
Cheating? Are you kidding me. Wipe away your tears and move on. That story is getting way way tooooooooo old!!!!
One question, How many star players at Alcoa, went to Alcoa city schools in the first grade?
-
Because it is ALL about the MONEY with the T$$AA
In their divine wisdom, they cannot change things that they KNOW need to be fixed in mid stream (during the season). Lets let the pain train roll and "fix it" next year.
IMHO, the state of Tennessee should have no more than 4 Divisions for "regular" High School Football. A , AA, AAA, AAAA max !!!!! then the "Private" divisions.
My 2 cents
One way teams can fix the TSSAA that allows teams like Greeneville and Alcoa and the private schools that recruit is boycott them when you have to play them. Could you see how much $ TSSAA would lose if the winner of Q1 and the winner of Q3 and Q4 refuse to play Alcoa and just give them their 1,000,000th gold ball. Think of all that money they would lose. Private school should not be allowed to play the public schools. Every other state does that. Until the coaches stand up to them they will keep allowing those teams to cheat.
-
Greeneville is an example of a 4a team playing up with 5a & 6a teams and flat out destroying them...One team was as high as fifth in the state which Greeneville WON 56-7...That team was TN HIGH!!!
But you forget Greeneville has 3000 students to pick from if you count all the NC schools and the truckers kids that get jobs at Landair.

Etown may be better than PF I havent seen Etown play. G-P would beat everybody in that quad by 21 or more. PF I promise is better than HV. Remember Fulton beat both these teams by the skin of their teeth.
If PF loses to GP and AE they will be watching it from home and AE will move East to Q1. Elizabehton had an easy time with AE last year and AE beat G-P 14-7 last week. The 5 games GP won those teams have a combined record of 7-34. How do you measure that?

Look the debate of playing up and down will works itself out this scheduling period. 2 years ago, the new system put a little value in total wins, but you could still schedule tough and qualify. Now that the TSSAA has changed the rules after 1 year, the whole point is to get as many wins as possible.
With this being the case now, 1A and 2A teams will not schedule up, neither will 3A or 4A teams, that will leave 5A and 6A teams playing one another. 3A and 4A teams playing one another, and 1A and 2A teams playing one another.
You will only see top notch 1A and 2A programs scheduling up knowing they will finish in the top 2 in their district. Same for the higher classifications. It would not make sense for some of these 1A teams playing 3A and 4A teams this upcoming scheduling period.
The question for teams will be is it more important to qualify for the playoffs or make money at the gate? My prediction is this scheduling period will be the toughest any current coach has seen in his time.
The problem with this is why are there Conferences? Winning a Conference means nothing other than you get a little plaque. Head to head means nothing. TSSAA should have let the schools know they were going to this format 3 years ago so teams could schedule cupcakes, so they could get some home games in the playoffs. You have the conference champion seeded 7th when teams they beat have 3rd and 4th seeds. If I was CD seeded second and had to play Elizabethton who was undefeated in their conference and its losses have been to a 6A team, the #1 team in TN 4A and the #3 team in 3A in NC and is on their way to play the #2, 3A team in TN Friday I might be a little upset .

I found some information about the game last year in the Knoxville News Sentinel:
CAK....7..7..0..0
Eliz...7..0..6..0
Scoring: CAK-Carson Pegarm (Matt Warren Kick): Eliz-Chantez Demoss 18 pass from Ryan Phomas (Taylor Hodge kick): CAK-Davis Burton 6 pass from Quinn Epperly (Mathew Warren kick): Eliz-Zack Boles 71 pass from Mckenley (kick failed).
I may have the wrong information, but I did not see where CAK was up 14 to 0.
I just watched my film from last years game and it appears that the information from the Sentinel is correct.
You may be right. I have a good memory but it's just short. But I do remember Ryan Thomas and Taylor Hodge (Kicker)were knocked out of the game and the Soph QB McKenley Berry came in and did a super job. Our backup kicker missed the extra point. His little sister won't. She hit a 34 yarder last game, longest in State History for a girl and has only missed 2 pats all season. It would be so cool if she wins this one for her brother with a kick.

They hate working on Saturday so I don't expect them to fix it this year. Why can they not change it this year? If you win your conference you are either a 1 or 2 seed or even if you play someone in your conference that you finished a head of you are the home team. How hard is that? It is crazy to say we will wait till the end of the year. It is wrong now so fix the problem. Last year they had 3a all messed up on that Saturday Morning selection show but they did fix it. Do it again and if not then do not say anything about being fair because the playoffs will be a wrong.

Here is a response from the head of TSSAA about the playoffs.
"Seeding the district winners and runners-up and head-to-head are two things we will ask the committee to look at when they reconvene after the championships."
However this year it will be by the record no matter what. So the teams that played the cupcakes this year will get rewarded with home playoff spots. I hope the lower seeded teams that won head to head and their district embarrasses those teams on their home field and sends a message to TSSAA. Why even have districts anymore they don't mean a thing when it comes to the playoffs. Traditionally good teams will find it hard to get games without traveling hundreds of miles and we are already seeing this happen. This is the worse thing that has happened to high school sports in a long time, when they try and fix one thing they make things ten times worse.

Yeah once we teach how to play we send them back, just kidding, don't think I didn't try to get him in Black & Gold. Terance played with about 10 kids on that fins team that are Raiders now. they were some team. It makes you feel good as a coach to think maybe you helped just a little some where down the line. T and his dad are the best GOOD LUCK again and hope to see you again real soon.
If you can teach moves like he has I'll send you a couple more. I heard it took the doctor that devivered him, three nurses and 20 yards to catch him.

Even if your just close to being right, I'll take it and be happy. I will say that CAK is certainly capable, but IMHO it will take a complete game (both offense & defense, for all 4 QTRS) and I'm still waiting to see one of those this season (and Sequoyah doesn't count).
I am glad to see Elizabethton healthy for this one. We are young with Soph running backs and a junior QB who is hitting his stride. Comming off a couple of big wins should be a ood game. The team that plays through the misques will come out on top. Good Luck to both teams.

I would have to agree North has one of the best o-lines I have seen but they will have to contain the GP speed that had hurt them a couple of times. They have a good D and it will be a game I'd love to watch. Good luck to both teams, I'm picking North 28-14.
