  1. AJ was the man, I always said he ran like he had 3 legs. He always seemed to use his arm like another leg. And I think that was more your all's fault that AJ landed in our laps.
  2. You guys are funny. Hey, do you all want to hire George? Roll Tribe!
  3. To quote the infamous Art Vandalay "Giddy Up!"
  4. Haha! Yea. I'll be one of the first one's on here to congratulate you guys on your victory. I've got a lot of disgust for OR, but I've also got respect for you guys. We used to yell HERE KITTY KITTY when we stretched before we played Oak Ridge, guess this game just brings the kid back out in me.
  5. 2 days away. HERE KITTY KITTY! Meow! Roll Tribe! Gimme 3 claps and a Ric Flair. Whoo!
  6. Well, I'm pretty sure the last time we played was when the late Coach Watson was the DC. He could definitely draw up some defensive schemes. I'm sure there will be some blitz packages Friday, but it probably won't be anything like what OR was used to seeing under Watson.
  7. Well reading through some of the OR fans posts from their game last week the QB from last season actually led the team to a 12-1 record. The reason for their QB change this year was supposedly b/c their offense has changed to one that fit a more mobile QB. I'm not saying this is true, I'm just stating what I've read. The whole week 1 game plan that OR had could have been a huge smoke screen for the Tribe. Guess we'll find out Friday.
  8. As I'm typing I am watching one of the Higgins highlight reels. And OR's QB from last year is throwing it on the money for the most part. Granted, from what I've seen there are not too many def. backs around Higgins-but they are still nicely thrown passes. I've not seen the QB from this year, but just from what other OR fans have said I would be shocked if we did not see a different QB lace them up.
  9. Back to the thread. SweetSci, heard of any QB change at OR yet?
  10. I'm biased in speaking anything about Dobyns-Bennett and also biased on any conversation relating to most of the football coaches. I don't think state titles or any other trophy truly relate to whether or not a H.S. coach is doing their job. I'd like to see a state title brought back to Kingsport, but I'm proud of all the kids that go out and try to do their best not just on Fridays, not just at practice, but in the hallways of their schools. I believe the coaching staff try and ensure their players are doing what is right all the time. I'll preface my next statement by saying "sometimes you can't change stupid", but I believe our HC at DB does everything he can to mold these young men into being contributors not only to the football team, but to the school, their community as well as society in general. You will rarely hear about most of the great things that Dobyns-Bennett football players do after H.S. About how many of them are great fathers, excellent employees, supporters of the community. You will however here about most of the bad things that happen to former players, just the fact that "bad news sells papers". I'm a believer in the football program, really I'm a believer in most any extra-curricular activity that gets young people doing something other than sitting at home or getting into trouble because they are bored. I think that most extra-curricular activities not only coach/teach a skill, but I think they instill discipline, help to teach morals and honesty, and hardwork as well. So to answer the question in short- I would not have made a H.C. change at DB if I were one of the Kingsport Powers that be solely based upon the playoff record over the last ten years.
  11. Bat - I can't argue with you about the band comments, but to say that the OR coaches want to win more than the DB coaches I believe you would be sadly mistaken. Over half of DB's current coaches all played at DB so they are well aware of the rivalry between OR and DB. Like I've said previously- OR is DB's biggest rivalry, so I think each teams coaches, players and true football fans want to win this game just as bad as the others. Now like I said, I won't argue with the "DB fans" that leave after their little darling has played the halftime show - those "fans" probably won't be able to tell the difference in Oak Ridge and DB's uniforms. I'd like to know who you refer as Kingsport's "Powers that be", because I believe the majority of Kingsport would love for a Gold Ball to be put in the trophy case at the field house and whether the band plays in the Macy's, Indianapolis, or some state championship contest I don't think many people really give a rip.
  12. Congrats to Tee. I'm sure having the no. 1 QB coming to Knoxville in a couple of years made his decision a little bit easier. 4 days and counting! Roll Tribe!
  13. Might be the most delerious statement I've ever seen. You realize that Mcgue is no longer at SH right? There's no way your offense is as talented as last years.
  14. SweetSci will there be a possible QB change before Friday? I was listening to OR/Clinton game and looking on the boards and sounds like OR has a QB on roster from last year that was pretty good.
  15. Full story is that DB probably has more playoff wins than South has regular season wins. Don't know this for a fact, but it would be good trivia to find out.
  16. Can't really disagree with much of what your are saying Dark Knight, other than for me I believe our opponent next week could be considered our biggest rival. I know we don't play OR every year, but it seems much more of a rivalry than SH does. It's not really been until recently that SH has put up much of a fight on the field. Just my thoughts. Any my thoughts plus $10 might get you a cup of coffee from Starbucks.
  17. They may stream it on The Cube app, I'm not sure if they stream it on the football website or not. And yes it was Curt Phillips at QB for South.
  18. Well, after looking at some pictures from the game last night it looks like Coach Carter has done a very good job. Have you seen the picture of Science Hill's walking billboard at the game last night? Yeah, I'm guessing Coach Carter loves to see his players at DB football games decked out in SH swag. I'm just glad the player didn't try and draw attention to himself. All goes back to Nature vs. Nurture in my book.
  19. SweetSci, I think WaCo makes my point a little better than I initally did. I don't know if our personnel can hold OR to under 45 points, thus that is why I made my prediction. People can say what they will about Clark, but when it comes to playing against OR no matter when it is, he's usually got a game plan or 10 to use. He'll figure out a way to get the ball in the endzone. I'm sticking with my shootout prediciton. I can't stand to say this, but I'm also looking forward to seeing Higgins and other notable Ridgers play next Friday. I need to go wash my mouth out now after saying that.
  20. SweetSci all I'm saying is that I think both offenses will put on a show and it will be a shootout. Once an OR/DB game gets going offensively it tends to go back and forth and the winner is the team with the last posession. And I'm giving DB the win b/c of my obvious allegiance and due to homefield.
  21. My early-early prediction for this game right now is a high scoring affair. DB's offense did much better than was to be expected last night in the point scoring category, which is the only one that counts. DB: 52 OR: 48
  22. Not really sure how good an offensive team TN High is, and I realize DB gave up 260 yards rushing, but props should be given to the new DC Coach Salyers. I think he simplified a lot of the defensive schemes and plays and for the most part it sounded like the defense was in good position all night. I understand that there was some poor tackling, but just having players in a position to make the tackles I think says a lot for the team. Guarantee there is some tackling work this week in Group D.
  23. Let's get it started. Good win for DB against a tough TN High team. Here Kitty Kitty! Bring your trains Ridgers, the tracks stop in KPT. Let's see how OR does against Clinton, probably pretty even week 1 opponents for DB and OR. After tomorrow night we should have a better idea of what to expect. RTR!
