  1. Im just trying to help get some names from every team out there.. but i do believe that Montgomery is better than Hill, and Dill.. Tucker does a good job of playing on both ends of the court.. something with him is still a little akward to me but he is one of the top players in the district. The thing about Hill, Dill as opposed to other players such as Rhodes, Clifton, Montgomery, Rice and players like them is that teams dont key in on them like they do others.. the top players score on double teams and while being face guarded.. those guys dont.. good role players that are key to their teams.. but the top players are those that the other team talks about in practice and makes special plans for defensively
  2. WOW!!!! As you can clearly see you were mistaken.. the district held 10 teams for quiet a while.. 6 is a few as it has probably ever been.. in the late 70's and i believe part of the 80's(not sure about the 80's) there were about 12-14 teams.. This is as small as District 12A has been for decades.. and baseball and basketball hold the same district teams.. Football goes by regions as its first level.. it all changed in 05-06.. CA went to 11A. i beieve Sante Fe and Hampshier did to.. and again in years after.
  3. My Idea for this topic was to get lists and discussions of the best players in the district. I see alot of 12A games but wanted to see what people think. This would require different peoples oppinions which would get different results. So lets get un-personal and get back to the topic please.. as for the MVP? to me it means what it stands for Most Valuable Player.. meaning who is the most important player to thier team. So i go with the take a player from a team and see what they do kind of guy. Obviously after the S'town Waynesboro game Clifton does not fit this mold. with him S'town finishes 3rd in the district, without him they will be 1st or 2nd.. He is a GOOD player. but wiothout him there it left alot of possesions and shots for other players. And those players were able to get the job done. Again Clifton is a really GOOD single A player, however not an MVP in my view of the award. I feel if you take Rice away from Waynesboro they are coming to the games to cheer on thier girls instead of Lorreto. He creates 70% of their scoring possesions. He takes too many shot and plays selfish at times, however he is a huge scoring threat outside and inside with the dribble, but his biggest talent to me is his ability to see the floor and make good crisp passes. YES he is very cocky and hard to even watch the way he carries himself.. but so are many other players in 12A. I saw Rhodes clapp in a kids face the other night after hitting an open 3. Whether you like him or not in MY opinion Rice is More Valuable to his team that any other player is to thiers. Now how about some top 5 lists.. make it 7 or 8 if needed. Clifton Rice Rhodes Mercer Crews Montgomery- Look out for this kid the next three years! Clifft Blackburn(would like to of seen him play at another shool)
  4. District 12A has shown some strong play from several individuals from several different teams.. But who have been the Top 5 this year.. this is based on this year not years past.. here are a few to mention. Perry County- Cannon Rhodes Waynesboro- Rice Summertown- Bubba Clifton Collinwood- Montgomery/Crews Lorreto- Clifft Clifton- Churchwell/Blackburn
  5. Before 2005-2006 there were actually 10 teams in the district... and a few years before that (i think about 2001) there were was 8 or 9 teams. There was Santa Fe, Mt. Pleasant, Hampshier,Zion, and CA also.. So some teams had to win two games to get in instead if 1.. or the top 2 teams goin straight to region.. But i would really like to see a number on that.. It is no question that this guy is a program killer.. and hes getting better at it.. it took him 2 or 3 years to kill Collinwoods and only one to kill Summertowns..the good news is Collinwood is back in the region and finished 3rd his season.. Summertown has a strong fan base and a great group of girls.. they can over come this and rebuild in a short time aswell. Good luck to the Eagles this summer
  6. Lorreto Collinwood will be very interesting tonight.. They split in the season and they both came down to the end.. Double overtime in one of them.. Has the potential to be a real Barn Burner... Good way to get the boys tourney started
  7. I realy Feel for those Summertown girls and the year that they had to go through.. I wish them the best of luck next year and hope they get someone in there that will coach them and not worry about themself. Does anyone know when the last time Summertown girls missed the region Tourny?? has it been 10-15 years?
  8. These are very interesting numbers. I bet most coaches couldnt tell you their records and stats like that. But that is what coaching means to you.. what YOUR numbers are, what YOUR records are.. you had some great teams and players, that took YOU to the state tournament and gave YOU those numbers.. what YOU did was kept THEM from having better careers... GOOD LUCK IN YOU JOB SEARCH NEXT YEAR!
  9. I find it very interesting and hunorous to look back at some of these posts now that the season is over. As for you "Morris fans" (coachcarterfan). Lets look back on Morris' year. he took over a team that went to the sub-state last year and returned everybody, and he somehow managed to keep them from making it to the region!!!! WOW!! what a coach!!!! and the team that he supposedly done so much for (Collinwood). They finished 3rd in the season and clinched a spot in the region tourney last night. this a team that Morris failed to get to the region last year. Crews done a GREAT job with those girls and had no problems with the player that everyone said was such an issue. Morris was the issue. The girl didnt demand startdom and she was treated like everyone else and all went just fine. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME S-TOWN GIRLS DIDNT GO TO THE REGION?!?! Im very interested in a number here
  10. I would say ur opinion is a little biased... Collinwood has looked better than many would think and can compete. the girls are trying to dig themselves out of a hole that was created by a past employee.. but the new guy is doing a good job with getting most of the girls to play hard like they did before the "Morris Era".
  11. yea not sure where his info is comin from, but Willard is gonna be just fine. he already has the respect of many people over there and has his team looking good. and nobody will be comparing him to Byrd... random
  12. You cant be upset at Coach Willard for leaving. He had an opportunity to coach in Waynesboro where he is from. He has givin his life to those girls at Summertown, and i know he will miss them. He built a program there that is one of the best inn the state. I can understand Summertown Girls and fans for being upset with the situation they are in. But Willard did not hire Morris. That is a decision that the school board will have to deal with for a year. I feel for those girls that are seniors and have to end it like this. Willard dedicated himself to those girls and deserves respect. The real issue that Summertown needs to address is what to do next year before a good program is destroyed. he has done it before
  13. It will be very interesting to see how Wboro boys play this year with Coach Willard there. If they play half as hard for him as those s'town girls have for years then they will be a whole different team. should be a fun year in 12A
