  1. I'm not going to lose any sleep over how you feel about me,but looking back through all the post I dont see anywhere you called out any of the so called goodpasture fans.on this board. So think what you want about me.your post is not going to change my mind at all.Hope to see some better football play from the middle and west tn in the future, but so far the state championship playoffs have been in our region for the past six years lol.
  2. I knew it! I knew I would regret it............LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I guess you would put them in order of the different Alcoa teams they faced. The way you listed them is fine with me.All I know is every time we played goodpasture in these past championship games, they were terrible.Should not even be in the finals.Milan had good Defenses, but their offense sucked.Huntington and Alcoa were evenly matched.neither defense could stop the other. Both scored on big plays all night. If Union City had taken us more serious early in that game it could have been different.Brentwood Acad was a revenge game.It was just in the cards for that Alcoa team to win that game.
  4. The best teams were Brentwood academy, huntington and union city.
  5. I trust these coaches to get the up and coming team ready.I bet that starts tomorrow. These guys never rest. They will play to what ever there strength's are.they may be some closer games next year, but if we are in it at the end of regular season.I can see us at the ship next December.
  6. That place was a dollar general and a paint store also.I shook my groove thang at charlie's disco a couple of times.Did you ever take Mama starz there to shake her Groove thang TOO?I know I'm going to regret this Question!
  7. I tvoed it,so let me get it on disk and make a master cause you are about the 10th person who ask me already.I promise you will get one.just PM me or tell Vetta and I will make sure you both get a copy.
  8. I agree with this, but that was under fulmer. If Dooley showed some interest and let them know how bad we need them.I think they would listen. He may be able to convince them that no kid in Tennessee would be taken for granted again.Cobb would have been in orange today if it were not for fulmer taking it for granted that all he had to do was show up at the last moment with an offer and cobb would stumble all over himself. All kids want to feel like they are special and that the team needs them.Fulmer made a big big mistake, but hey he aint there anymore.
  9. I know this is a homer question, but how is it that Tennessee is not in on some of Alcoa players.Tyson looks as good as any fullback UT has.Isom would be all world under a passing offense.I think warren would be a good addition as a tailback.Would be as a defensive end if he bulked up,but I think he is a better running back JMO.I think Evans is better than that lineman that committed from up there in upper east tennessee. The name of the school does not come to mind, but redshirt him and give him a year in the weight room.He would be a fine addition. He has that drive and just enough nastiness about him that the vols are lacking on the line.Appy state is getting a steal. All these kids have the skills and the right attitude.I guess they just dont have the stars beside their names. What they have more than anything is pride.....Pride playing for their school their team, fans and themselves, and since they are from tennesse I think they would play a little bit harder than a kid from another state.
  10. First off CAK has a fine football team.Secondly they see us twice a year for the past several years. They know you have to adapt and do the things in the off season.CAK has some athletes just like ALCOA,and when I say that I mean everyone. Its not enough to just have fast backs and speedy recievers you have to be athletic everywhere on the team.CAK is closing the gap, wheather they can outmatch us is still a question.I dont see ALCOA giving that up too soon, but I dont see CAK backing down either. These games will continue to be a battle.
  11. On warrens first touchdown you can see #4 step behind one of his players to get out of the way.I recorded the game in my camper and have started watching it again already. When I heard all week about 300lb linemen I have to admit I thought we could have some trouble, but after seeing them I thought there are 300lb linemen and then their are just people who weigh 300lbs.Our guys were just rolling them out of the way.Pun intended.
  12. If they rank Goodpasture higher than 4th at the last pole it will be an injustice! They would finish no better than That in our region. What a joke of a program.Alot on here tried to say it.Including me,but I did not start talking smack till they did! Earlier people were comparing who the best ALCOA teams were.I think we should discuss what was the worst goodpasture team ALCOA has played.LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLO.
  13. I will be at all the games.I plan on over dosing on football this weekend.
  14. "The Catch" Billy Williams made down near the goal line to put Alcoa in position to score at the end of the game and go back to state is etched in my mind.It was one of those catches that will always be remembered and talked about.I wonder how many times that has run through Billy's head. What a game.
  15. Sorry for that long post APB.Sometimes I get carried away, but to me its hard lumping 3 years of memorable football years into a few sentences.I t kinda got away from me.
  16. I was not talking about 07.I was talking about 1977,1978,1979 State championship teams.
  17. I wonder where all the old game film went from back in days of our old state championships? You being in the know, can you find out?I would not mind trying to convert and preserve it.with permission of Alcoa of course. It would be a great thing to do for all the guys who played back then.See what you can come up with and give me a shout back after season is over with.
  18. It just goes to show you what disciplined football can do for you, cause peanut was and still is a very nice guy.He would not hurt anyone, but put a helmet on a football player and instinct takes over.People call it coaching.Peanut was a great defensive back, solid as a rock, and I believe one of the strongest if not the strongest on the team.
  19. I will try and make this short, but since this thread is slow maybe some of the old timers can fill in some of what they remember.Alcoa fans are comparing past champions and i felt like the 77-79 teams have just been forgotten about. We did play goodpasture once during that run.Someone from that team or era can chime in. There were only 3 divisions then and no private school divisions.Alcoa played single A of course. We had alot more small schools in Blount county.Porter,Friendsville,Lanier,Walland, but I do not rember Alcoa playing Walland that much. The same could be said about Greenback.I have never known Alcoa to ever play them.Maybe someone can answer why that was.Maryville had some real good teams and of course Rule High had some really good teams and players.I hung out with Rodney Dykes class of 79,and I knew alot of the players from that era even though I was 2-3 years behind them,Sam Love,Pat Simonic,Doug Staley,Glen Sankey,Kokey Earls(sp).Terry Whitted,Dutchy Parker,Greg Osborne and so on.Others can chime in on other players cause there were alot during this run of 3 in a row.You can't compare these teams with say the last 15 years or so.Teams then mainly ran the ball. You never ran into the CAK type teams.Everyone ran and sometimes passed and played Defense.Sweetwater was real good with the Lathams and who remembers Joe Cozart. He was awesome.I can remember more than once where coaches from other teams would say that Alcoa was the hardest hitting team that they had ever played. The State Championships were played at one or the others field. It was just so much different then.In the playoffs the scores were always close. You never saw blowouts like you do now.I believe only 2 teams made it from each district, mainly because you had so many more teams then and even though you were close to each other another team might be in a different district. It was alot of fun and alot of true rivalries back then. Some others can speak up and carry this on if you can remember that far back, and if any goodpasture people remember that team from the era please talk about them.I really cannot remember much about them.
  20. Of course it will, but this is a message board and I think everyone knows that the game is played on a football field and not in cyberspace message boards,What do you suggest we do here?Like the saying goes "No ones holding a gun to your head".Your free to leave or stay.
  21. I know this link is to the homer paper, but I like what nix says about the program and the players. If Rankin does ever leave like most teams in our division are hoping for.We will be in great hands with a young tough coach like Brian Nix.Here is the link for the non homers. http://www.thedailyt...19996/-1/sports
  22. What happened to charger?Reckon mom took his computer privileges away?I see batman is still here.I'm going to give it a rest and vow not to get on here and do any more bad mouthing.Just waiting to leave out friday morning.I decided to pull the camper down this year and make it a long weekend.Looking forward to watching Alcoa play a complete game on both sides of the ball and special teams.
  23. Now that is funny APB.I 'll laugh about that for awhile.
  24. Where's he been the last couple years. We've been right here the last six.
