  1. Looks like 9 teams out of Memphis area will be in. Winner if Lincoln county Franklin county will be in too and knock out one of thise last memphis schools. I think Arlington will be in quad 3 as the 3 seed as long as they win Friday. quad 3 should include mt Juliet, Dickson, Wilson central, independence, Brentwood, Arlington, Overton, and cane ridge it seems

  2. Bertier is correct. If HC and NE are in the same quad., NE would have a higher seed because of finishing 2nd (as long as they beat northwest). This information is found in the TSSAA website on the playoff page. District champs and runners up (as long as they have a .500 record believe) are given priority seeds. All other teams are considered wild cards and are seeded according to the 15 playoff criterion. I do believe the way it looks that Dickson Co. will be a top 2 seed in quad 3 and Brentwood will be a top 2 seed in quad 3 due to winning their districts yet their may be other 9-1 teams in quad 3 with better playoff criterion that will be seeded lower due to not winning their district.

  3. Other than 2 big plays, Dickson's defense played extremely well. Springfield is gonna be tough the remainder of the season and in the next few seasons as it looks like they have a lot of youngsters playing. Dickson moved the ball all night (I think they only punted once), but huge penalties and turnovers cost them several times inside the red zone. They were forced to a lot of field goals that are normally touch downs. Give credit to Springfield, they played extremely well and their front 7 on defense is a force. Apparantly Henry County found that out too.

  5. The one's should get seated first. if Alabam goes undefeated and loses to GA in the SEC championship then GA with a lesser record goes to the BCS bowl for the SEC. Winning your district should count. Problem I have BIG time is the way the districts are not even. It can't be all about overall record as teams like Dickson County in 6A beat NO one and get a home playoff game by beating up on 5A schools from Clarksville.

My complaint is not about winning your district. That should absolutely count and I understand that district champs should get rewarded for such. My problem is with seeding teams that finished 2nd over teams that may have not finished second. A 7-3 team who finishes 3rd or fourth should probably be seeded over a 5-5 or 6-4 team who finished 2nd, regardless of competition, since that cannot be changed. Teams cannot help their geographic location nor can they always control who they play, but the TSSAA can use a little common sense when seeding teams.

  6. From my understanding, which may be limited, the TSSAA will seed the teams in each quadrant different than in previous years. Automatic qualifying teams (teams finishing 1st or 2nd in district play) will have a higher seed than non-automatic qualifiers. For example: 6A Quad 2, Coffee Co (3-7) will have a higher seed than Oakland (who is currently 6-3), because they finished 2nd in their district. Several cases like this will exist where a team with a 7-3, 6-4, and possibly 8-2 will be punished with a lower seed than a 5-5 team because they play in a tough district. Is this true? Please, explain if you know.

  7. Quad 4 looking pretty tough with 4 of the top 8 seeds. Quad 1 tough as well.

Quad 4 is clearly the weakest quadrant with the 2nd seed Arlington getting beaten already this year by a 6-3 Oakland team who is a middle seed in their Quad. With the exception of Whitehaven, the teams currently in Quad. 4 would lose their first round games to any teams in Quads 2 or 3! Those are the brutal quads. You can't look at records (these teams beat up on each other through the season), you gotta look at the teams that are there. Brentwood as an 8 seed! Wow, there are few teams in Quad. 4 that can play with them. Sorry man, but your over your head if you think Quad 4 is tough. Its the weakest again this season.

  8. I didn't "assume" anything...I knew none of those games would be close...just I like I know the Dickson County game will be a laugher. I already told you...apparently your "intelligence" gets in the way of your ability to read. I have MANY friends who coach in West Tennessee and in North and NW Mississippi...several have seen Dickson play. I trust and value the opinions of friends who are real coaches. over people like you (disgruntled fans of likely losing programs...or just people who don't know football).

Considering Dickson is not located nor plays anyone in West Tennessee or NW Mississippi nor has any ties to anyone who has played in those areas, I think you are lying and I call your bluff! Again, it is YOU who knows little about this game and it shows with posts like that. You have to hid behind a mask and try to tell others you were a coach, because it makes up for your lack of knowledge and your over the top ignorance of the game. Think long and hard about your next post, cause we all know you were never a coach and to say Dickson is a losing program is absolutely ridiculous! When did your Mighty Patriots win a State Championship? What is the series record between Dickson and Henry Co.? And you still have not

  9. I have a question for you. How do I sound ignorant when I have disagreed with posters all season long who said the Liberty game would be close...that the Beech game would be close...that the Springfield game would be close? I said all of them would be easy wins and wouldn't be close...I was CORRECT...so since when is being correct considered ignorant? I can't wait to read your "intelligent" response.

Again, ignorant! A non-intelligent, fanatic of any team is going to assume that their team can whip anyone. I remember as a young child assuming that anyone who played my team was going to get beat badly. Thats what children do is assume that their team is world beaters, when in reality they are not. So, I guess by you guessing that HC would badly beat those teams, you were being like I was when I was a child. You had no knowledge of those teams, and in fact, you could not even tell me the offense that those teams ran prior to HC playing them. And yes, you got right, but again, it didn't take a genuis to figure out that all of those teams are not very good this year. And we began this conversation by discussing Dickson, not these teams. So, why do you still not answer the question that was posed to you? How do you know that Dickson is not good?

  10. NE is not a good football team...they are fair at best. They are fortunate to be in a weak district. We are a good football team who is unfortunate to be in a weak district. If we play well, this will be just another massacre. I just pray that we have no injuries. Dickson County is TERRIBLE, despite their misleading record.

Bold statement to make about any team! How would you know if they are terrible? When have you seen them play? I'm assuming every Friday night you have observed your mighty Patriots, thus meaning you have not had a chance to determine whether or not Dickson is terrible because you have never seen them play. You must either be going off opponents scores, which is a foolish thing to do, going off last years score, which is again ignorant, or you must be so cocky that you actually think that every team HC plays is terrible in comparison to them. I have viewed your posts before. You make every HC fan look ignorant, and I know the majority of them are not. A former coach would not post ignorant comments like yours. The only coaching you probably did was that on a video game or junior pro football. Honestly, you don't even sound like a man, you are probably a foolish student posting this.

  12. Since you asked..I'll try to be specific...the Cougars are well coached in the fundamentals..they always have a plan on offense as to what/who they are facing each week. Seemingly...they do what they must do execution wise to win...mostly on the shoulders of Bo Brown(he was the offense last Friday against Clarksville High)...they step to the line and snap it quickly as not to allow the opposing defense a chance to adjust to whatever formation they present. Defensively..they are small yet physical up front..the opposing center has a scrappy nose tackle in his face the instant the ball is snapped..often disrupting any blocking scheme and allowing the Cougar linebackers to make a play or create havoc on the quarterback. The Cougars aren't penalized often and do not turn it over often with the exception being the West Creek/Northeast games.(every team has those nights..the Patriots have had their's as well) All this being said..you do not have to be the FASTEST team or BIGGEST team or the DEEPEST team to win consistantly...but you must be able to outscore the opponent..and keep them from scoring to win...Dickson has done that every week except early in the season against Columbia where they almost knocked off the Lions. Given the numbers at Dickson..more "tips of the hat" should go to the Cougar coaching staff for their game planning and to the Cougar players for their hardnosed/Cougar style of play that we all know and have seen over the years..

In short...give credit where credit is due...without making blanket statements suggesting one team has more of this than the other...without having seen the other!

    QB Prez,

First of all, I never stated that Dickson had the fastest, biggest, or deepest team. I merely stated that Dickson has a slight advantage in OVERALL team speed. HC has the advantage in depth, strength, and size, there is no doubt about that. Neither Dickson nor HC has the fastest teams in the region, or even in the tops in the region (that would go to Northeast and Springfield). I will agree that Dickson is well coached, and that has definately been an advantage for them this year. They do prepare well for who they play next, as all HS football teams do.

Also, I do not think that you can say Dickson's success is solely due to one defensive or offensive player or I'd say that HC's success is solely dependent upon their QB (who is their best player). But I'm smart enough to know that a team's success is dependent upon more factors.

I do think you made an excellent point that actually alludes to their speed (especially on the defensive side of the ball). You may not have known this, but you were actually hinting at the fact that Dickson has quick defensive lineman when you mentioned that about the nose man. I mean being in the backfield in an instant must suggest some type of speed. Anyways, I'm not here to prove a point, that point will be proven on Thursday. I do think you have to take into consideration that outside of the QB and RB position at HC (unlike years past), there is not much of a threat speed wise on the Patriots offense. However, Dickson has an incredibally quick and smart group of Defensive Backs, Linebackers, and Defensive Line, which again will be shown Thursday. This is going to be a great game. If DC stops the running game of HC, DC wins. If HC can slow down Brown, then HC will probably win. With that being said, I don't know if anyone can slow down Brown, so I will stick to my original prediction DC 13 HC 10.

  13. Good game. DC's starting QB/CB went down in the 2nd quarter and that play by Springfield at the end of the third was wild.

Very wild play! There were several occasions in which the DC defense had the opportunity for a sack or loss of yards, and somehow couldn't make the play. What about the multiple fourth down conversions by SHS? That quarterback for springfield is a good player. After being hit as many times as he was, he still had the poise the play in the 4th. Great game. DC played 3 solid quarters and looked like they were dominating until the fourth... The kids looked tired in the fourth (way too many missed tackles, which are uncharacteristic of DC). Too many kids staying out all night last night for homecoming I guess!

  14. Hearing what Springfield did to NE, Clarksville High, and Greenbrier this season, and watching Dickson County against Northwest I say 34 - 13 Jackets. Springfield has had tougher compatetion, and from what I hear the only team to beat the Jackets this year are themselves. Guess we will see tomorrow night!

Wow...a bold prediction to think that Dickson will give up 34 points! They haven't even given up a combined 34 points all season! I think you may be in for a disappointing night tonight. I hate to say it but I don't think this game will be as close as people predict. DC 34 SHS 14 (most of those points will be at the end of the game against DC's seconds)
