  1. OJ,

(go ahead and deny.... your past posts have too much information)

Your own team/town doesnt even like to be associated with you. They kicked you out.

Give it a rest and move on...

Really, obviously you have never met me.

  2. Another year, another stacked CBHS team. This year's team should be better than last year's squad. Last year's team lacked leadership and composure early, but they were able to use their superior depth to take home their second title in two years. That shouldn't be a problem this year. Once again CBHS will be strong at forward with Banks, Bran, Svgdik, and Wickham. Their real depth is in their midfield. They have more quality midfielders than other teams have quality players in general. Matthews, Wilson, Gardea, Kauker, Palonia, Silver, Reddick, etc, etc. They also have strength on their backline. Roberts, Tarver, Burdette, Owens. Not sold yet on their keeper Healy, but you can't overlook his success.(2 state titles in high school and 5 in club). Rogerio goes into the season with 5 regional ODP players. Most teams don't have 5 ODP state players. Franklin their all everything midfielder will be their most significant loss.

MUS will also be tough again this year. Defensive stars Matt Montsinger and Toby Baker will again have to keep the defense organized and aggressive with the loss of Utkov in the back. Luckily, the Owls should be much better offensively this year. Henke, Kaline, Levy, and Camuti should give the Owls nice skills throughout the frontline and central midfield. Graduating seniors, Baker and Utkov, especially Utkov, will be tough to replace.

ECS is loaded again with Gagnon, Wilson, Chenault, Crockarell. They will miss Vander Voort's scoring(over 30 goals last season) and Linn's overall great play, but in their division, they will be extremely tough.

SBA will be a better with the rumored return of Ryan Ashielman, to help Wagner and Tucci. They just don't have a lot of depth.

The biggest team hit from graduation will be Briarcrest. Losing 8 seniors( Pacileo, Davis, Hendrik, Stimpson) and having Ballard graduate early and join the Creighton soccer team for the spring is going to leave the Saints in a rebuilding position. This season the Saints will lean on Golightly, and West. They have other hard working players. They will need to really unite as a team and just out work teams to have success.

St. George's also took a hit with graduation, losing midfield playmakers Sims and Schneider among others. They return a pretty solid group though and Nate Sims is a very nice player.

    My Public school opinions tomorrow

CBHS easily will be the top team in the state, if not the region. With the talent and Rogerio as a coach, I would love to see the team that beats them.

  3. Where are those 10 players "ranked higher than the list" playing in college??? It might help get your toes of you mouth or be cause for full insertion.

It's time for someone to start a new tread with this year's college commitments. Might as well let this be the catalyst.

Great point, but to mention ten better I would have to go into names, and certainly don't want to go into specific reasons for why that player should or should not. I was of course speaking of players in high school and not in college. Across the state, great caliber, and unfortunately, not in the east this time.

  4. RE Quick Poll - You can likely blame this on the coaches who choose not to participate. If they are not engaged, keeping up with their efforts off the field, participating in polls, etc, that really sounds like a local issue you need to take up with your coach or athletic director.

RE Players on the list - I think the folks above may have addressed that point all ready.

RE All Americans - Your data is wayyyyyy off. When you look at our honorees, we typically place no less than two, sometimes as many as four as All-American/Scholar All-American.

RE - Who received the second one? not really sure what your saying here.

RE - Ten better players? Name them (JK)

Yes, it is a heated discussion. Everyone wants their player in the group. Something we all need to keep in the back of our minds is, this is high school not club. How did the players perform, individually on the field during high school ball. All too often upper classman seem to feel a right of entitlement and a little less effort as they have made their commitment last February. Underclassman are still striving for a position, they must fight to stay in the game and they are still trying to make an impression on college coaches. Bottom line, sometimes the seniors get skunked. Lesson learned.

Well stated. As far as all americans go, yes we do well in the acdemic all america, however i was speaking of the vote by coaches. That is typical were we receive 1, and this time two. The second one went to the Bearden girl, who clearly is not the number 2 player in the state.

  5. You care to elaborate? I'd like to to comment but before I put my foot in my mouth, I'd like to give you the honor to do so first

ok, I bet if you take a quick poll, the number of HS coaches that were aware of this process can be counted on one hand. I have seen too often were this stuff is kept amongst a select goup, nothing has changed in the last ten years. Secondly, take a look of the players that made the list. One of them is a quality soccer player. The state received 2 all americans for the first time in 20 years. Who received the second one, case in point. Thirdly, I believe we know of at least ten players that rank higher than the list with the one exception. I am sorry, but nothing ever changes in this state. I guess I now I have put my foot in the mouth, but I never did mentioned names, so maybe it is only the toes.

  6. Glad to be associated with this program! Here is the press release:

  8. Someone should look into starting up girls soccer in the Chattanooga area.

more politically motivated selections that very few coaches were aware off. Whats really funny is if these girls were so good, why are they not getting quaility college offers? What happened to CAK girls, did they get missed, or did they not have enough pull?

  9. I was wondering that too.

Last year the THSSCA put out their All-State list in the end of November, and the TSWA put out their All-State list the first week of December. Since their over a month late, I am wondering if the TSWA is even bothering with girls soccer anymore. Since the entire 'sports-writing' market this fall was almost totally boys football, with girls soccer getting almost zero press, maybe they've just cut their budgets back to only follow football in the fall.

what else is new in this state, GS always takes a back seat

  10. I was wondering that too.

What else is new in this state.

  11. Over 110 players make ALL-STATE in a sport in which eleven players take the field. Honestly, we are right back to participation medals. Everyone gets a state championship and everyone gets an ALL-STATE. First, no slight to any of the girls on the list nor the girls not on the list. Pick the top 11 players and call it a day.

Its an honor, not a right.

I agree, well stated. I can think of several players right off the bat that did not make. The all american is funny too. This state has never received 2 AA, but this year we did. Wonder who #2 on the list was that the string was pulled for in AAA?

  12. We are on the same page..but on the wrong thread....should have read All Star Parents, eh?

Well stated movingonup. While most parents are decent to deal with, we have those jerks who re-live their own childhood through their kids. Since soccer is an upper middle class or upper class sport, guess who those parents are. Seldom do we see issues from blue collar parents, they have always have had to work hard for everything. But again, not all parents are that way. Then add into the great equation of spineless administrators, and you have the accident waiting to happen.

  13. Yes, thx Don.

THis is getting near the point. If you play in AAA, you play in a pool of 89-90 plus teams.

As we watered down the divisions to give every child a state championship, other groups have 16, or only 10-12 teams in their pool.

So, if some are crying they want their own division, it isn't fair for us to compete in the AAA, why do you then want to be considered in the same pool when the topic of an All-Star team or similar surfaces? Seems like you would have your own All-Star* game.

No matter how you lice or dice it. AAA is for the large public schools, A/AA small public schools, and II is for the privates. That is what the majority wanted way back when, and that is the way it should be. We should not allow any school to have the best of both worlds.

  14. Again, I am speaking from the guys season, but I would assume it was done the same way from the girls.

Coaches must be members of TACA (Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association). Coaches that are members get an e mail about 2 weeks before the deadline. Coaches then send in their nominations with bio's from the players. I believe players must fill out a short bio, too. They are adamant about the deadline, so if it isn't in by then, the player won't get on.

I know the THSSCA does a good job emphasizing this to their members (but, of course, one has to be a member in order to hear).

When I was coaching I was an active member of the NSCAA, the THSSCA, and TACA. This way, my players had the best chance to get nominated and win awards. For example, in order for your players to be nominated for all state, a coach must be a member of the THSSCA. In order to be nominated for any NSCAA national award, the same thing. You also got $1,000,000 in liability insurance if you were a member (which is a nice extra).

All of that to say, coaches, get involved. If you aren't, find out how you can be. That way, your players stand the best chance for the recognition they deserve.

I believe Big G to be on the money with his account. But I also know that many coaches collect their stipend and that is the end of it. I have been a long advocate for HS coaches having to meet a USSF or NSCAA license requirements, but TN is to backward to ever adapt such a policy. Parents would be surprised how many awards schools and players are eligible for if their coach belongs to the NSCAA. But then again, many coaches probably get enough of parents for the season, and as such, choose not to do more. We can see it in the coaches voting in the polls, very few vote or take the time to even join the state association. What a shame. I guess that is what is referred to leadership by example, and may be one more reason why TN gets so many cards at matches.

  15. What the Heck......Have you been to the Soddy field(aka. ancient ruins) and were AAA. Our facility was build in 1949 (the year that Champs DDS was born) :roflol: .... We are TOTALLY booster club driven. The County and the City of Soddy Daisy helps our program with a generous donation every year of zero, zilch, Nada dollars. And even with all the problems we have because of the age of our facility ..I still wouldn't trade our Ancient Ruins for half the private school fields that I have seen.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is some schools have better facilities then others, but to throw private schools in their own division because of their facilities....is well...the craziest thing I've ever heard.

Oh wait......Maybe, that's how we should divide our 3 divisions. Teams with great facilities will be G-1(Great facilities Division), OK-2 will be the schools with an OK facility, CP-3 will be known as the cow pasture division.

Boy do I hate to say it, but East tnref, you and I are too much alike. Big G, I hear you, but have seen too many articles were you haave bragged about all the state championships. Please, spare us. But I believe you are beginning to come around. i don't know you, but I believe you are a quality coach and have good ideas.

  16. Well, the Championship Matches are set. Predictions and comments?

St George's vs Univ. School of Jackson

Jackson will prevail 2-1 even though they have previously lost and tied to St George's this year. If the semifinal games are an indication, it just seems to me USJ has more offensive mojo going.

    Baylor vs St Agnes

Baylor breaks their 2 year jinx and avenges last years loss to St Agnes 2-0. St Agnes has punch but Baylor's D has been really tough allowing 5 goals all season. Key will be if St Agnes can keep this game out of their defensive end of the field.

    CAK vs Notre Dame

If any game goes to O/T I'm betting this one. I just think CAK offensive power will prevail 2-1. But if they don't keep ND striker contained, all bets are off.

    Houston vs Franklin

Houston is just too good. 2-0 or more victor.

I go with Franklin over Houston

  17. I believe you guys that point to the club scene are correct. I would add that soccer has organized itself into a corner. Too many regulations, too much money involved and it has completely forgotten about the rank and file player. It is set up for the elite to be able to travel and be seen. The rest are there to pick up the tab and still more are left at home playing some other sport.

    well stated
