  1. Anybody know if the Alcoa/Cleveland or Maryville/Webb games will be broadcast remotely (satellite, cable, streaming online)? Won't likely attempt to endure the chaos of that gathering, but would really like to see those teams in action next weekend...
  2. And one more jab from the hater trolls... Welcome to another year of high school football, where the "adults" gather and criticize the kids and live out their fantasy lives through their high school alma maters. Man, it's great to be alive and living in beautiful Southeast Tennessee!
  3. Does it get any better than this folks?
  4. It's high school football time again, let the dads begin their trash talking! ha Ha!

  5. oh yeah, you guys need to celebrate! I mean, you won the 7 on 7 at Signal, and now won a one-quarter jamboree "game" by one point (with the other team knocking on the door of the endzone at the end) In my thinking, the rest of the schedule should just forfeit. Don't the remember the Golden Bears won a state championship...what, 40 years ago?? Are you also celebrating the fact that your bus got back to Bradley County before the Cleveland bus did?? Did Bradley fans eat more hot dogs than Ooltewah fans? All these things are meaningful, aren't they? It's really amazing what a little success and attitude will do to some folks. Looking forward to Bradley doing something on the field before they dislocate their shoulders from patting themselves on the back any more. Play ball!
  6. Cleveland fans should be more than disappointed by that showing. Understandably, it's difficult to keep a team motivated once they've clinched the district crown. However, it is incumbent upon the coaching staff to motivate the team for this game first and foremost. Based on their performance, I expect the attitude was overly casual, and it really shouldn't have been. There was more riding on this game than pride. The coaching staff lost this one for them. That's too bad. Not to knock Soddy at all. They are a talented team and they played like many have expected them to since the early games this season. This game was just far too one-sided, and that's unfortunate for both teams and their fans. Gladly, both teams are in the playoffs. They both deserve it. I can't imagine what a 4-hour bus ride and a thin fan following will do to the Raiders, though. Hopefully, next time they'll consider the benefits of a higher seed and playing at home. Good luck to Cleveland, Bradley, Soddy, and Polk. Should be an interesting playoff.
  7. Thanks to technology (and a nice HD antenna) I was able to watch this game on TV from the comfort of my overstuffed leather recliner with a bowl of chili and a warm dog at my feet. (Several friends from Ooltewah and Cleveland have already shared how cold it seemed at the game, regardless of the close nature of play.) I took away a few things from observation: Voytik wasn't "great", but (as he has been much of the season) he was good enough to win Cleveland's run defense continues do show signs of weakness. Continuing to allow those kinds of gains will not allow them to advance far in the playoffs. Ooltewah seemed quite one-dimensional. Manning is a great option QB, but he didn't exercise the throwing option much. Neither team had an impressive kicking game Cleveland hung in there after going down 14-0, and has to be given some credit for both coming back and ultimately winning All the talk about whether Cleveland "won" or Ooltewah "lost" is superfluous. At the end of the day, Cleveland is unbeaten in the district and Ooltewah is playing McMinn this weekend for pride alone I'm not eager to travel to Soddy this week, now that Cleveland's playoff position is solid. Although I know there are a number of layers to this game, I'm not sure either team will be at their best. Can anyone else direct me to a Chattanooga-area game that would be good to attend?
  8. Whoa there phishy...I never "knocked" the Owls. I only pointed out that the Rhea/Cleveland game generated WAY more chatter on this board. The rest of all that was what you decided to make of it. (a little chip on the shoulder perhaps?) And, no sir, I'm not "flying" anywhere. I just enjoy the games. Already kind of feeling badly that the season is nearing a close. I wish you guys good luck, and hope it's a good game. I'd like to see Cleveland unbeaten in the district when they head to Soddy next week though, no offense.
  9. You know I'm just poking at Rhea County. I agree it was a far better game than anticipated. Eagles came to Cleveland to play, and they showed they have a lot of weapons. Like I said, I'd rather come over and watch your game tonight...just getting off work too late to do so. Had considered going to the Polk/S. Pittsburgh game tonight, but probably won't for the same reasons. Not left with a lot of choice, if I go at all. May be a good night for a bowl of chili, the recliner, and the radio... Will be pulling for Rhea, Cleveland, and Polk tonight.
  10. Two days out and only 14 posts on this game?? The Cleveland/Rhea game had 9 pages by now! I guess this one's just not the "rivalry" that CHS/Rhea was. Still think this will be the better game than Bradley/WV. I'd actually prefer to see Rhea/Soddy, but work schedule won't allow me to travel there on time. I say Cleveland takes this one, but it will be closer than it should.
  11. Lots of optimism here...but I just don't see it nearly that close. I'll take Cleveland 37-21 (and the Rhea County 21 will all be scored in the second half)
  12. What was the magic remedy?? (Oh no...I smell a conspiracy!)
  13. I'm still tickled, even flattered that so much attention has been paid to me since I got here. Just like many others, I didn't come here to argue...I have used Coach T as an information source for years. Only lately has it interested me enough to begin posting on these boards. I came here to share commentary, and maybe to offer some balance since some school fans seem to dominate the discussions here. I'm still learning. I need to learn to bite my tongue (fingers?) more, because some of the ideas shared here seem so foreign to me. What I have learned from some, though, is: evidently, if you didn't play at a school, go to a school, or have kids at a school...you're not allowed to be interested in a school, much less attend a game if one team says it's a rivalry, by G*d...it's a rivalry! (I think Tennessee suffered this for years with Florida, calling them "rivals", when they considered their rivals Georgia and Florida State) if you disagree with some fellows here, you're either an imposter, a plant, or just plain creepy in Rhea County...football is EVERYTHING OK...I get it. Lessons learned. Thanks to all my instructors!
  14. Wow, glad it's not just me! What is it with Rhea County folks wanting to believe people are something/someone besides who they say?? I'm new to this whole thing, but is it common for folks to impersonate fans from other schools? Really? I believe that would be the confirmation that someone should really get a life away from the internet. Looking forward to the Rhea/Cleveland game. Wish I'd seen the CHS offense at work against Walker Valley. (I thought their QB was out for the season!) Instead, I had to be in Cherokee Country watching McMinn fall apart before my eyes. (gonna be a long year in Athens, after all...) Bradley had their A game going...but McMinn was obviously in disarray. Hopefully, the cross-river showdown will live up to the hype already shown by the faithful.
  15. I wish everyone in and traveling to Rhea County tonight a safe trip. I expect it will be an enjoyable game. Too close to call.
