I think we have been clear the whole time. None of your comments tell any reason why you have issues with Coach Allen. You apparently have no child in the program and know nothing of the kids that had left the team but, you are "simply pointing out the flaws in his coaching abilities" which is what? Again, what are your issues with him and why have you come to such a great analysis of his abilities? Are you trying to get his job? Do you have somebody you know in mind that wants his job? Are you a friend of a parent? Have you seen him conduct practices? Do you have anything to do with Mt Juliet high school?

I have the opinion that Troy Allen is a subpar high school coach and I dont see it getting any better anytime soon.. I have first hand knowledge and exp. with Mr. Allen. 

I really do not care about the player who got caught, and is not longer on the team.  The players are not my concern.  I merely was pointing out that it would be nice if MJ had a better coach.

I have had first hand dealings with Mr. Allen and I did not kike the way he conducted his practices, his team, his personal etc....

Now having said that, I have no personal issue with Troy Allen , I wish no ill will towards the man, I just wish he had not graced the halls at MJ.  And I over the years have made this known to Mel and the admin.  

So what's your next question?  He is an adult, He is a public school teacher..... do you live in a fantasy world were people cannot say what they feel ?

If you truly want to know who can coach basketball; talk to other basketball coaches.  If you want to find people to bash coaches; talk to parents, people who have never coached, and read message boards.  

Funny you say that, I have coached basketball, talked to many basketball coaches and the story reads the same.  But thanks for your advice.

I am confused. First you ask for details about a minor's situation and then you say you will not comment on a minor? So what you are saying is "I will not comment on a minor but I want you to do so? Hypocrite. The bottom line is that the student athlete in question is no longer a high school athlete.

 

If you want to know the details of the situation try asking the people involved instead of getting on here and getting second hand information.

 

As far as Coach Allen is concerned he does a good job with what he has. Some coaches are willing to put up with prima donnas and some are not. For some, winning is more important than teaching character (or leading by example). There is more to coaching than wins and losses.

 

Riddle me this: name any, ANY coach in Mt. Juliet boys basketball history that won a district title. It is a fact that they have never made the state tournament in the nearly 100 year history of the school. You guys act like Mt. Juliet boys basketball is some sort of powerhouse.

If you read the posts trebs started the Chowbay thread, I did not start that.  I dis ask what all  the hub bub was about... I should not have mentioned it.   Your right MJ basketball has never been a contender,  But they always seem to under achieve.    You really think Allen has character ?  I can give serveral exampls of his lack of character......and who is MP and RB?

Yes it's true MP is the new HC at MJ............ RB is the asst. and JJ is the pitching coach. 

Should be an interesting season.

Lets see .... one side is  Leb, H'ville. WC and Portland   the other side is SC, MJ, Beech and Gallatin.

I think   Beech plays SC and MJ plays Gallatin  not sure of the other side, but I'm guessing  H'ville vs Portland and Leb vs WC

Mount Juliet over Houston 4-3

It was a good game , beech won 5-2. MJ walked two in the first and then with two outs a miss play on a fly ball scored three. After that neither team scored until the 6th inning . Beech pitcher was strong , struggled in the 6th giving up two runs , but battled through it . Smith 89 , McWilliams 93 !

I saw the MJ / Oakland game, the starters for both teams were good. I thought the Oakland hitters had a better approach at the plate than MJ.   MJ got a lucky play in the outfiled  that resulted in a couple of errors.  I thought the big mistake for Oakland was pulling the starter, I think MJ got their tie'ing run and go ahead run on the relief pitching.

Oakland had a tough game at MJ and now Overton..... I saw talent on their team, maybe just need more time to jell

I see where your coming from! Also you have to look at, oakland is starting 8 seniors with the 9 starter being a junior (Austin peay commit) (also 7 of them are returning starters) and they have a sophomore that's up to 87 that threw a no hitter already and another one in preseason! And they have a deep bullpen!

did not see the deep bullpen against MJ   AP commit, is a catcher ?   Oakland is not bad,  did not hit very well

Hard to tell, we lost to MJ, lost to WC and split with Beech. Its my firm opinion, this year, any given team can win on any day. Just like we were beating both SC, Hville, and lost on errors in the last inning or so. All 3 of those top 3 teams could win out in our district. Another thing, in our district this year, you take ALL teams, take away their #1 and #2' pitchers, and its a dead heat. Flip a coin either will win. It appears the teams are that close in talent (aside from their top aces)...heck White House isnt in our district and they have beat every team they have played from it at least once, and we split with them as well. Mills has a solid team at WH this year...and another Cumberland grad, whoop whoop. lol Good luck to all yall the next week or so.

MJ has a couple of pitchers that the district teams have not seen play this year. MJ really has 4 pitchers, 2 have been pitching district games and doing well, there are two more that have been pitching against Jackson Christian , Farragut, Science Hill, LaVernge, Brentwood, Powell , hardin Valley etc.... so I give the pitching edge to MJ for that reason. The jr. can run it up to 87-88 ....I think you will see him at some point.

Also the WC wins have been 6-2 , 2-1 etc.... the MJ wins aside from losing to Beech early 3-0 have been run rule games scoring 9-12 runs in 5 innings.

Vandy was at the Ravenwood vs Brentwood game 3 at Ravenwood.

MJ on paper is the favorite over WC..... but you never know.... it looks like MJ is clicking right now, run ruling the district teams, Carter should thank his lucky stars that he has inherited talent like MJ has year after year....

Don't know that I'll make it to middle TN this baseball season, how's MJ looking?

They look ok, beat Riverdale 14-1 but it was 0-0 after 8 innings...... then the subs came in..... pitching looks ok, defense ok, hitting needs to pick up. they have the ability , but 16-18 year olds who knows from day to day.

MJ will win the district again will little effort. They have more talent and are deeper than the other schools . New coach is solid... the pitching coach has not changed, the asst coaches are still there. MJ has 10 sr's and 3-4 solid jr's with varisty exp..... a new jr from Lexington they will be fine.
