  1. Debien wrestled 120 at Fargo, unlikely he will go 113 lbs during the high school season.  He will move up to at least 120, which pushes Stevison to 126.  This could mean another Oliver and Debien match up at the Cleveland duals.  Time to throw the overalls back on and head over to Cleveland for that one!

Oliver wrestled 113 at Fargo and is ranked #4 by Flo so could still be a 113 lbs next year.  If not, then Chalifoux and Murphy are the top guys at 113.

  2. D2 Prediction

    106 Murphy

    113 Oliver

    120 Elsea

    126 Gray

    132 Connell

    145 Marchetti

    152 Baker

    182 Hoodenpyle

    195 Garston

Cleveland dominates to another State Title!

  4. In my therapy session, today my therapist noticed I was a little more odd than usual and she asked what seemed to be my problem? I told her that I was going thru rasslin and coacht withdraw and not being able to vent my frustration. Ms Finebody ( think thats her name) look at coacht and some of my past post and was astounded that I was still alive and how poor of a speller I was..

She said " why not post occasionally and when angered, limit your vents to 5 words"... So here goes..

    Mocs2011, YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!

    Feel better already!

    Bcb iii

Glad to hear that you’re in therapy! Best of luck to that person. Were you at the state tournament this past weekend, see a recent dual match of interest, see a questionable referees call, anything current about wrestling, anything? If not, similar to last year—re-retire and just shut up!!! This board is for wrestling fans and you are just old, out of touch and irrelevant used to be wrestling parent.

Now, back to the McCallie vs. Baylor match ending and the 120 pound match against CBHS. Ghouse had a good post. I am looking forward to the responses.

  5. Talk to the current parents, they'll make you a list.

Just wondering are you saying that The Baylor Wrestling program is going in the wrong direction?

I would really like to know what you think the McCallie Coaching staff would have done if the shoe was on the other foot! The 126 pounder acted out in excitement but every wrestler knows not to leave the mat. Trust me I think every Baylor parent hated to see it happen.

But the Baylor wrestling program is full of tradition as it always has been. The Coaching staff work hard with the boys and I would consider then to be just as good as the past coaches. Just give them time.

A hard lesson learned this past weekend.

  6. "TBSFBAG will take it!" and that defines your program right there. Ton of respect for the history of the program, some of the great wrestlers of the past, but certainly not headed in the right direction now. Good news there are other options continuing to develop in the Chattanooga area where character and sportsmanship are emphasized ahead of winning.

really? do you not realize the the emphasis placed on the baylor / mccallie rivalry? why would a coach try to get a ref to repeal a team win in the biggest rivalry in the south? for any dual meet for that matter? come on! i can assure you the mccallie coaches would have done the same thing ben nelson did in this situation... nothing.

with that being said, i do disagree with the penalty deduction on elsea of mccallie. the kid posted a come from behind victory to end a 16 match losing streak against a rival school... but a win is a win, ugly or not, TBSFBAG will take it!

    Go Big Red!

  7. Knew your halfway decent tone of late could not last. Did you wake up from a drunken stupor and realize it was wrestling season again? Back to retirement and I suggest staying away from Ghouse comments. Don't know him, but from his posts he seems intelligent, well written, and appears to know something about wrestling. Way out of your league!

  8. Where are they getting bonus points at?

Who is actually wrestling for them this weekend and at what weights?

If they wrestle the same weights they did against McCallie they get beat 34-19

Unlikely they will wrestle the same weights. I see bonus at 106 Murphy, 132 Brunner and 182 Clements. CBHS probably some bonus at 113 and 152.

  9. CBHS is now #43 in the country as of intermat wrestling rankings.. Will they be able to maintain this ranking after this weekend or possibly move up a couple spots??

No, Baylor 30-27 over CBHS winning 106, 120, 132, 138, 145, 160 and 182. Both teams win 7 matches but the Redleggers are a little more productive with the bonus points.

  10. I am going to go with Baylor and Father Ryan to win their semi-finals matches. Not that I am a Baylor fan, but they finally have their lineup. Almost took out CBHS in the semis last year, I believe they'll get it done this year. Baylor will also take out Father Ryan in the finals. Close match going Father Ryan's direction earlier in the year, but now its leans heavily toward Baylor.

  11. Congratulations Wrestlingod (oneword) your post has brought out almost all the oddballs, rednecks, crotchity old guys that can't let go of the very distant past, the heavyweights, and brought back one guy from retirement or rehab. Amazing.

To soms, you're harmless and doing your best its just a little behind the pace sometimes, but keep trying.

To rlwest, welcome to the tn forum, you're well on your way to becoming another legend. Your son is a really good wrestler. Do him a favor and quit posting until he graduates.

In hoc sin vin..whatever. I am impressed with your new found vocabulary. There is hope for TN higher education.

To texas23, just forgive, it will set you free man. Goosfraba! Goosfraba! You can do it.

And to my favorite bcb, just keep it clean and semi-related to wrestling and all is good! Welcome back! I may have even missed you, a little, maybe...

Sing after me you very dysfyunctional group...I feel pretty, oh so pretty....

  12. Very in-depth response ghouse but we will just agree to disagree.. You can do all the research you want to on your computer but like I said I've been to both tournaments and I was just basing my opinion on what I've seen in the gym and on the mat and I think both tournaments are comparable and my other post was just giving a current head to head projection based on the latest results. Didn't mean to upset you guys from West TN.

mocs2011: I'm not sure who you're referring to getting pummelled when Cleveland won the toughest tournament in Florida and placed 2nd by 5.5 points to nationally ranked team at GP West. Do you care to explain yourself?

I was really just having some fun. Even being a Chattanooga wrestling homer and Cleveland fan, I can see clearly enough to realize that the Knockout Christmas Classic was not as strong as KC. Still a great win for Cleveland High. Cleveland was very close to CBHS at GP West and is likely not that far out of the top 50 at least in actual talent, but there were "8" ranked teams ahead of CBHS at KC. I could start quoting Intermat and Floranking that are relevant, but Ghouse has that covered.

To poke a little more deserved fun your way, if you were with Gordon Lee as suggested by Ghouse, they finished 34th out of 37th at KC last year. Kind of hard from that far down to make too many credible statements about how tough the top teams or wrestlers really were.

  13. Reaching back into my refereeing days, I believe its the responsibility of the wrestler lifting the other wrestler to safely return him to the mat. In this case, he did not return him without injury so it is an illegal slam by definition. Correct call. To many concussions in sports today and not necessary to accelerate into the mat.
