  1. Debien wrestled 120 at Fargo, unlikely he will go 113 lbs during the high school season. He will move up to at least 120, which pushes Stevison to 126. This could mean another Oliver and Debien match up at the Cleveland duals. Time to throw the overalls back on and head over to Cleveland for that one! Oliver wrestled 113 at Fargo and is ranked #4 by Flo so could still be a 113 lbs next year. If not, then Chalifoux and Murphy are the top guys at 113.
  2. D2 Prediction 106 Murphy 113 Oliver 120 Elsea 126 Gray 132 Connell 138 Olson 145 Marchetti 152 Baker 160 Popp 171 Walthall 182 Hoodenpyle 195 Garston 220 Mason 285 Robertson Team Champion: The Purple Irish. Their coaches always seem to have their wrestlers ready for the individual tournament.
  3. 106- Cyree 113- DeBien 120- Stevison 126-Oliver 132- Hamilton 138- Langford 145- Freeman 152- Bennett 160- Lopez 170- Soloman 182- West 195-Boykin 220- Satterfield Hwt- Reagan Cleveland dominates to another State Title!
  4. I had the same question, if so, what a shame.
  5. Glad to hear that you’re in therapy! Best of luck to that person. Were you at the state tournament this past weekend, see a recent dual match of interest, see a questionable referees call, anything current about wrestling, anything? If not, similar to last year—re-retire and just shut up!!! This board is for wrestling fans and you are just old, out of touch and irrelevant used to be wrestling parent. Now, back to the McCallie vs. Baylor match ending and the 120 pound match against CBHS. Ghouse had a good post. I am looking forward to the responses.
  6. Talk to the current parents, they'll make you a list.
  7. "TBSFBAG will take it!" and that defines your program right there. Ton of respect for the history of the program, some of the great wrestlers of the past, but certainly not headed in the right direction now. Good news there are other options continuing to develop in the Chattanooga area where character and sportsmanship are emphasized ahead of winning.
  8. The finals match left little doubt last night about how strong this Cleveland team is. Hoping for an encore a week from Saturday.
  9. Knew your halfway decent tone of late could not last. Did you wake up from a drunken stupor and realize it was wrestling season again? Back to retirement and I suggest staying away from Ghouse comments. Don't know him, but from his posts he seems intelligent, well written, and appears to know something about wrestling. Way out of your league!
  10. Unlikely they will wrestle the same weights. I see bonus at 106 Murphy, 132 Brunner and 182 Clements. CBHS probably some bonus at 113 and 152.
  11. Will Soddy have everyone back for the duals or remain shorthanded from earlier in the season?
  12. No, Baylor 30-27 over CBHS winning 106, 120, 132, 138, 145, 160 and 182. Both teams win 7 matches but the Redleggers are a little more productive with the bonus points.
  13. I guess I am jumping on the bandwagon with this, but Cleveland vs. Soddy in the finals with a Cleveland win.
  14. I am going to go with Baylor and Father Ryan to win their semi-finals matches. Not that I am a Baylor fan, but they finally have their lineup. Almost took out CBHS in the semis last year, I believe they'll get it done this year. Baylor will also take out Father Ryan in the finals. Close match going Father Ryan's direction earlier in the year, but now its leans heavily toward Baylor.
  15. Congratulations Wrestlingod (oneword) your post has brought out almost all the oddballs, rednecks, crotchity old guys that can't let go of the very distant past, the heavyweights, and brought back one guy from retirement or rehab. Amazing. To soms, you're harmless and doing your best its just a little behind the pace sometimes, but keep trying. To rlwest, welcome to the tn forum, you're well on your way to becoming another legend. Your son is a really good wrestler. Do him a favor and quit posting until he graduates. In hoc sin vin..whatever. I am impressed with your new found vocabulary. There is hope for TN higher education. To texas23, just forgive, it will set you free man. Goosfraba! Goosfraba! You can do it. And to my favorite bcb, just keep it clean and semi-related to wrestling and all is good! Welcome back! I may have even missed you, a little, maybe... Sing after me you very dysfyunctional group...I feel pretty, oh so pretty....
  16. I was really just having some fun. Even being a Chattanooga wrestling homer and Cleveland fan, I can see clearly enough to realize that the Knockout Christmas Classic was not as strong as KC. Still a great win for Cleveland High. Cleveland was very close to CBHS at GP West and is likely not that far out of the top 50 at least in actual talent, but there were "8" ranked teams ahead of CBHS at KC. I could start quoting Intermat and Floranking that are relevant, but Ghouse has that covered. To poke a little more deserved fun your way, if you were with Gordon Lee as suggested by Ghouse, they finished 34th out of 37th at KC last year. Kind of hard from that far down to make too many credible statements about how tough the top teams or wrestlers really were.
  17. I think we're coming down a little hard on rlwest. I can sympathize, sometimes when your wrestlers are getting pummelled, its hard to differentiate between a good Florida wrestler and someone nationally ranked.
  18. Soddy by three. I've been picking Chatt teams to beat CBHS all year, why stop now? It appears the 106 is out for CBHS after reading the GP West thread and that will be what it takes for Soddy by God to get by this time.
  19. Congratulations to Christian Brothers. Now being a Chattanooga homer, will the boys from Cleveland move into the top 50 when they place ahead of them this Saturday at Brentwood?
  20. Reaching back into my refereeing days, I believe its the responsibility of the wrestler lifting the other wrestler to safely return him to the mat. In this case, he did not return him without injury so it is an illegal slam by definition. Correct call. To many concussions in sports today and not necessary to accelerate into the mat.
  21. Not into moral victories, but WV is making progress. Could become another strong TN program, we need more of them.
  22. Predictions! Semis Pope (GA) vs. Soddy CBHS vs. Cleveland Finals Pope (GA) vs. Cleveland Winner Pope (GA) 33-28 No dog in the hunt, but I look forward to sitting in the Cleveland gym this weekend and watching some great dual matchups!
  23. interesting, I always lean towards Chatt and apparently so does this poll! 5 of the top 7 are from our area.
  24. McCallie remains a tough tournament. I wonder if using the pool format before line bracketing would be more attractive to schools. I believe Science Hill does this which guarantees more matches.
