  1. I'm sorry I believe I may have been unclear. I was trying to say which sides champions had to go through tougher competition.
  2. I think a truer test of D1 v D2 would be the sixth place finishers. Lets see who has to battle more to get atop that podium
  3. Studs, contenders, and at what weights?
  4. I was thinking top top tournaments(maybe 5), not every tournament with a couple tough teams. Bradleys stacked. Black Horse brings in CHBS, Brother Martin (New Orleans), Grissom (Alabama), MBA, and countless others. Ryan used to be a measuring stick in terms of Tennessee wrestling, but has just dropped the ball (potentially because of their refusal to use a match board. I never new why they had someone calling names for nearly a 32 team bracket, but thats neither here nor there).
  5. So what are the most competitive tournaments in the state? You've got to figure Bradley, Black Horse (Houston), and several others. Ryan has slipped substantially in the last four/five years in my opinion. Whats the word?
  6. I do enjoy a little sarcasm, and I get that a double elimination is important to many people. It could very well be done in Chattanooga. Just cutting out all of the larger breaks would help substantially. Not only is Chattanooga better for the wrestler in an excitement standpoint, but the spectator as well. I for one hate watching the state tournament where I cant see all of the matches, or even 75% for that matter. We cant all sit in the middle. Also it would be much better run with Eslinger in the mix. He coached the state tournament there and he know the issues. Look at how the Scuffle was run. Bono is a douche.
  7. I'm for it being in Chattanooga as well, but this might be the worst argument I've ever seen on here... aside from the scottmike stuff of course
  8. This is an article from the Chattanoogan a couple of years ago. Should give us something else to argue about The criteria includes ones high school career complete with at least one state title, success at senior nationals and cadet and junior freestyle and greco-roman nationals at Fargo, N.D., with college achievements a plus. Mid South Conference: The vast majority of wrestlers who competed in the prep school Mid South Conference (1949-1970 for wrestling) did not compete in the state tournament; thus, are not eligible for this list. But the handful of Mid South wrestlers who were allowed to compete in the 1961 and 1962 state tournaments are eligible and some did make the list as state champs. The national prep champions from the Mid South are listed at the end of the story. No doubt, several can and will argue for wrestlers in their region of the state over others which makes the discussion interesting, stimulating and welcome. No Tonys, Oscars or Emmys are awarded and no checks handed out to the top 10. Just an opinion, yet hopefully an educated one, with solid input from across the state. Those champions who stand out from the hundreds, yes maybe thousands of teens who have dared to walk alone to center mat in the squared circle before roaring student bodys to test their abilities against another in honorable combat. Warriors who have pushed themselves to the limit and beyond and have stood alone on the top step on many a Saturday afternoon, when in a six-minute span of time, which seemed an eternity, boys become men and legends in our sport. To all who have wrestled and worked hard we salute you and to those who have reached higher we acknowledge those accomplishments as well. With that, here is the best of the best; those with sterling credentials and lofty numbers. Top 10 ** ** state champion is the first criteria to be considered for the top 50 ... this coincides with next month;s 50th high school state tournament. 1. BILL HARLOW ... 9. Fantastic wrestlers definitely should be on this list, but I'd like to see how well they do in college to figure out where on this list they should be.
  10. He was also formally called David when he took down Goliath
  11. An hour of sprints I doubt it, running maybe. But are you saying having long, tough practices is a bad thing? How else do you make champions?
  12. What about Jordan Leen NCAA Champ? Kelly Felix 2x state champ OW state tournament, and won JR Nationals? Kelly not the greatest ever but certainly up there.
  13. Now MountainAir, We all know you are Mrs. Shelton who was the coach who resigned. Please stop referring to yourself in the third person. On another note am I the only one who was raised to believe that if there was a problem with yourself and a coach that you would go deal with that issue face to face with the coach in private and not A. blow up in front of everyone in a gym and B. not have parents up crying to the principal about an exaggerated story from a 14-17 year old. Lastly, Mrs. Shelton is doing donuts in a park not destroying property? I support John Lennon.
  14. This will be my last little tid bit on this situation, but I understand the disciplinary problem was the wrestler skipped class and did donuts in the SM park and was caught by the police. A little different from not showing up for study hall. John Lennon had nothing but the best interests of the kids at heart his whole career. Much Love
  15. Well its pretty clear that the one who "suffered the most humiliation" is your kid and this submission is slanted. I highly doubt they lost the "majority" of their team, and from what I understand most lost were due to the whole I want to focus on football thing. Total BS but another topic for another day. Any ways its clear your child has a beef with him and this information is coming from a high school kid who if he is like any other high school child blows everything out of proportion and manipulates the facts at hand. I think its impossible for a coach to get things moving in the right direction when everything he tries to do is questioned and argued by either a parent or a faculty member. Again I support John Lennon
