  1. Assuming the post means how will Soddy do with a new coach, they should be fine with Coach Skiles taking over. The biggest question is how will they fair without Nunley in the circle?

I have heard Coach Skiles is already not dealing with disciplne issues the way he should. If he does not deal with that now it could be a long season.
  2. I am not a coach or former coach of Soddy Daisy, or I wouldn't have heard some parents and your AD talking In The stands. There were a few of us in earshot and others of us listening to some parents laughing about it. It was more than one player and some of them were also telling other players coach Henry said to not play hard. I stand FIRM in what I said

You are saying it is not because of the losses but other things that you are spouting off about, you say other Decisions Made during the game,You seem to know an awful lot about why he is gone.... Why is that? You talking to somebody making decisions?

So these coaches have it better than other coaches in the county ? Maybe, maybe not, but I do say just because you mow the field does not make it Cush job for any coach .

You tend to talk like anyone who disagrees with your bashing is a coach or relative or "a local coach in the Chattanooga area". Not true! many of us don't see it the way you do. You do not speak for Soddy Daisy or all of the parents or players or school.

Players laying down or not playing hard? That is a bunch of crap. No matter what you say I know for a fact my son played his butt off every week PERIOD and any other parent will tell you the same. If any kids did lay down and their parents knew about it and allowed it to happen then that is SORRY. Hope Maynard gets some good applicants and someone can turn the program around.
  3.

Tom Weathers was awfully torn up over it, back during that time frame. Did he not know what he was talking about?

You must be refering to 6 kids that transfered to Soddy from Red Bank when Price got the head coaching job. Those were the only kids that just "SHOWED UP" that I know of but those 6 did start on the first playoff team in Soddy school history so I am sure Weathers was upset but he still beat Soddy that year. When you get a good coach people just "SHOW UP" to play for your school. Look at Signal Mtn. and also East Hamilton they have tons of kids that just "SHOWED UP" but that is how it is and will always be.
  4. Yes your right and Kevin is a fine man, have met him my self. Obviously things haven't turned out in his favor as the Head Football Coach at Soddy Daisy the last few years. Good people always land on there feet. It may not be at Soddy but Kevin will land on his feet. If you have ever met the man then you know his heart is in the right place and he has a vested interest in those kids lives. You may question his coaching but I don't think anyone can question who he is as a person. I'm sure being a head coach at one of the largest schools in our area can be tough, when you win all is well even if your team plays poor technique and wrong alignment or assignment but when your loosing the same guy who had the players one year is now an idiot who can't coach. Guys we all know it don't work like that. Good player make good coaches. From what I take of these message boards maybe little Johnny just isn't that good, even if they are your kids. Its tough to take cause we all want our kids to grow up to be the best in what ever they do and that may not be sports it may be just being a productive citizen or father. So the people that get on here and bash your coach or want a change may wanna realize the role model that they have had the last couple years although the wins haven't always been there. Just a thought.

    Great Post Headhunter.
  5. Who was ejected from the game for Soddy Daisey? The trade film we got only had 3 qts on it and that was missing plays.

Only 2 got ejected for the fight and 1 got ejected for having 2 personal fouls. The other 6 have been suspended by the admistration at Soddy from what I understand. Dont exactly know who all is suspended but 9 players is alot no matter who they are when you already have depth issues.
  6. Soddy is the worst team in the area they looked just terrible. They have a good quarterback. I feel sorry for the kid

Thank You for the compliment about the QB. He works hard and doesnt always get noticed because his team is struggling this year. But hopefully things will get better in the future.
  7. Boys played with class and respect. Soddy did their part too. Hats off to their QB. He played hard and never gave up. Took a beating and kept on going.

The only "talk" mentioned was between the Soddy players. icon_e_surprised.gif

Not a lot of penalties, and a lot of "little" miscues due to the rain, field conditions, and youth...

No real surprises here. Interesting stat that 16 CHS players touched the ball on offense, including 3 QB's.

QB has taken a beating all year he seems to be getting use to it but thanks for noticing his effort.
  8. SD is one of the smallest 6A schools in the state however that being said, there are a lot of potential players not playing or at least providing depth. The next statements will probably cause an uproar but a big part of the problem is a lack of emphasis on the football program at the school which I don't understand. Just look at last week - homecoming. The game itself was almost an after thought. All week long there were activities that did very little to build up the fever toward the game and instead distracted from the game. During the game, the band played or did not play with no reference to the events on the field. The cheerleaders do very little actual leading of cheers. The number of fans that simply stand around and do not participate in watching or cheering is astounding. With all that lack of emphasis on the football program at a football game is it a surprise that a lot of boys do not feel that the hours spent in the weight room and in the heat after school is worth it. And other schools seem to be able to find positions for coaches - what do we have 2 who are at the school? This is a lack of support and shows in the facilities and the willingness to sacrifice.

I'm not saying the football program has to rule the school (i.e. Signal Mountain) but there is a balance that can be struck. There is so much positive to say about the program - the academics of the football team exceeds the male population of the school as a whole and the discipline issues are lower. That can be attributed to the boys, the coaches and the parents. The feeling of being a team and being part of something will stay with these boys forever.

Until we come to the realization that we have to support the program and make it the priority in the fall, then we need to be content with 4-6 seasons, pleased with 5-5 and excited by 6-4.

Great point sdtrojan. But there are several sports at Soddy that dont get enough attention. Outside of Wrestling and Softball none of the sports get the support they need from the school or the community. Hopefully Steve Henry can make some changes and get things headed in the right direction in all sports not just football. As far as homecoming goes it is a big joke the football game is the least important thing that happens that week and that is a shame.
  9. "This is a 6a program with 1a type talent to be honest." Not sure that is the case but we do have 1A type depth. Here is the bottom line the QB is my son and I cant say that I agree with him playing defense full time, but I feel the reason he has to is because of the kids sitting in the stands that dont play because they are listening to what people like SDFF say and think the coaches are not worth playing for. If everyone would just come to the games to support the team and not to bash the coaches things would probably be better than they are. Kids would play football because they want to play football and not sit in the stands because their parents or SDFF say the coaches dont know anything. I guess what I am saying is we have enough talent (or definately kids that could help depth wise) walking the hallway to play with Bradley, Red Bank, Cleveland, McMinn, and Ooltewah (you can forget Baylor they will go get kids from all over the country to win) but if all they ever hear is how stupid the coaches are why would they want to play for them. No coach will ever succeed without support from the fans and the community. Go Trojans!!!

  10. SDHS 1-2

    RCHS 1-2

    That might Answer your Ouestion

Mister negative is back. I guess 1-2 is better than 0-3 like last year. And somebody is coming out of this game at .500. That means alot since neither team has been there in 2 years. Go Trojans!!!

I am hoping we ruin RealOldBallCoaches night. Since he evidentally only pulls for who is playing Soddy??? (Not sure what his problem is)

  11. Both, but I have a much easier time getting in and out at Baylor. At least once you get out of the drive is easy access to the interstate system or good 4 lane streets that can carry the traffic.

Soddy Daisy has to have been built in worst place around for a high school. Last time over there I was 5 minutes into the game getting into the place. Took an hour and 15 minutes to get in there from downtown Cleveland. Even the Soddy Daisy fans I walked up to the field with agreed with me. lol

I guess your right about Sequayah Rd. I saw where Coach Floyd said in the paper they would be leaving early to try and stay out of the traffic. If you take the Harrison Lane exit instead of the Sequayah Rd. exit your GPS should bring you in the back way to the school. It is a 2 lane rd. but much less traffic. Hope for a good safe game tonight. Go Trojans!!!
  12. This Game should answer some Questions:

    Is Baylor really that good

Is Red Bank really that Bad

Is Polk County really that Bad

Why is Red Bank bad because Soddy beat them? ROBC you really do hate Soddy dont you. All you do is get on here and talk negative about everything to do with them (Even the Website?) I think you need to find a new hobby besides hating on 15, 16 and 17 year olds.
  13. Bouncing back is always a question. But Baylor defeated Soddy Daisy on the road worse than they did Bradley at home. So the real question is who learned more and took the lessons to heart. Soddy came back and won agaisnt a decent Red Bank team.

Fetzner (RB in question) did return to the game a few plays, but was hobbled with an ankle from what I could tell. He sat out the 4th with ice on his ankle, when Bradley went to a total pass oriented attack.

Could be a pretty exciting contest, tho.popcorneater.gif

I will still complain about getting in and out of the facility. Can't get there from here, and one lane in and out. Geessshhhh. Whoever decided to build a school there needs their head examined. dry.png

Are you talking about Soddy or Baylor that is one way in and one way out?
  14. One of 2 Things, either BAYLOR is Really Good or Red Bank is Down this year.

I Thing the Boys on the Mountain Lost some good players to graduation. But how bout the Owls spanking EH...........

Looks like Baylor is really good. Red Bank will have a shot at winning their district. EH vs Red Bank should be for the district title. Signal may be down but they will still win their district. I just hope Soddy doesnt have a hangover from the big win and can come out fired up for Bradley. Also I didnt mean anything negative towards Red Bank with my last post just tired of all the negative comments toward Soddy. The players and coaches all work hard and deserve a little more respect. Go Trojans!!!
