  1. trousdale was within 3 points of beating you, with the ball and 1:30 left in the game, despite the fact that they had lost one of the most important players they had on both offense and defense in the very first quarter, they kept the game in complete doubt until two false start penalties crippled their final drive. an intelligent man would realize this. thumb[1].gif

every time you try and insult trousdale, even off handedly, you look even more moronic than you did in your previous posts. if you continue to mentally regress at this pace your up coming posts won't even contain words, just crude drawings. roflolk.gif

I need a quote for a bill board coming into Hartsville, TN. Looking for a six months lease. Have a picture of a certain team holding a shiny gold ball Saturday in Cookeville, that needs to be displayed. Call 1.800.886.BTME

I do hope that TVA will finish that plant in Hartsville. I expect that one action could raise the county's cumulative IQ 80 points, increase the depth of the gene pool to almost a foot, and quadruple the average number of real teeth per capita. Well, maybe.

There were a few Trousersniffers, some of your real geniuses, on the SM side Saturday; they found it in their best interest to "observe from another location".

What a year. SP at the Beene for the 6A district championship, TC at the Creekbank to take quad 2, finally gittin' to play and whup Boyd, and a great party in CookeVegas. Just wish we could have danced with Butchie's Rebels in the big dance.

Troll wuz honored to have the opportunity to watch this team mature and improve over the past three years. Kuddos to Coach Price and his staff for shapin' these boys into a State Champion TEAM.:thumb:

Plan to give some individual shoutouts on this thread; I'm sure I will leave some out, but you Signal posters pick up the slack.

First one goes to Zack Bowman! Young man was a beast on D, when it really counted. Critical 4th down stops in big games, awesome blocking, and some punishing runs. Wished we could have seen him carry the ball more, but with our stable of backs, his skills were used appropriately. Great year Zack, best of fortunes in the future.

A second amen, Mr. Troll. And one more shout out.

My SM student is in the Signal Corp, and to that entire group: thank you. "Music is what feelings sound like" - and Signal Corp made it clear that our Signal Mountain Eagles were ready to play, telling the opposition in no uncertain terms that: "Pull all your straps tight, boys, Signal is here to play, hard."

Signal Corp made a measurable difference in Beene Stadium and on The Creekbank. With Signal Corp leading the way, home field advantage followed Signal Mountain to those venues. I am certain of that.

Signal Corp helped contribute to the honorable traditions of South Pittsburg, and has helped, I think, forever dispell the myth of The Creekbank.

A most telling compliment was the desire for a competitor, Friendship Christian, to ask Signal Corp to play for them. That is another highlight in a season of many.

So to Signal Corp: we take a bow to you for a great season, and the traditions you have help bring to Signal Mountain.

  3. Wouldn't really say they turned around the offense, so much as defense stepped up and did what they were taught to do. Stop Jabriel and cover Joey. I said all along, that we could stand around playin' pocket pool for a quarter or two and still win big. That's kinda what we did. Also, it's hard for a boy to git run over time and again on an 80 yard drive, and then turn around and bust it on offense.

No. 17 from TCA got one play to many from Relle. Have you every heard a stadium so quite? Saying we were more than thrilled to see him walk off the field is an understatement.

Relle also cleaned his clock on a kick return, and he was woozy before the goal line collision. Tough, and valiant effort.

And don't underestimate the play along the SM boundary following TCA making it 21-7. Relle snapped No. 70s head back on the return; it was awesome.

That woke our young men up and the next time TCA scored it was 2 quarter later and way too late.

Amen, to all that, and here is more:

    • Founder's Fund for raising a ton of money
    • Mountain Education Fund for keeping the classrooms in our schools well-equipped
    • Hundreds of volunteers that work game nights to make home field an advantage
    • The folks that do the dirty work - lining fields, cleaning gear, putting up gear, moving the team, feeding the team, keeping them ready to go, at practice and on game nights
    • Cheerleaders and their parents for their investments of time and energy
    • Signal Corp (more on them later)

The young people and their parents, and our community is how we won the Three State Titles in the Fall of 2010.

So to you that say "SM is a 4A school", I say, well yes we are, thank you very much. But I base that on the amount of community support, commitment, and organization we enjoy. Our students are very fortunate that this community has thrown itself into our new high school.

All young people should be so fortunate.

  5. Congrats to you on the state championship, I still feel as though the real state championship game was between you and us in the 2nd round of the playoffs

I agree. That was the only playoff game in doubt for SM this year. FCS had the momentum in the Second Half, but SM woke up in time. Trousersniffers will disagree, but once Honey Bees had to pass the ball, they looked like Whitwell.

SM was able to just shade both SP and FCS this season. That is how you win championships. I'll remember those 2 games forever. The Beene is a special place and Swindoll put on a show.

Best of fortunes to FC next season. SP, we know you are coming to The Mountain in 2011. Going to be exciting, and good times.

  6. Best team in 2A for sure. But to say we have given you no respect is wrong. There have been only two TCA posters on coacht since the game. TCAEE and me. We have had to play bigger, faster, stronger teams all year long and the kids were just plain exausted by the second quarter today. Its a long season and the boys have fought through alot, they just fell a little short today.

I think that most TCA fans are just discouraged because they have seen the fight in these kids week in and week out, and no one wanted to see it end this way today. The difference in the game was depth. Plain and simple... TCA played all out the first two quarters and then ran out of gas. Signal had the luxery of going to the bench and pulling fresh bodies out to play.

Now for all you Jabriel Haters out there, give the kid a break for once. ONE time. Obviously Nick Saben knows what he is doing, or else he wouldnt be at Alabama.

The kid does it all for TCA. It begins and ends with him!

Imagine if his talent could be surrounded by more of the same where teams couldnt simply key on him all game long.

The fact that he did what he did all season long and had the numbers and success he had speaks volumes for him. Also makes the ones he does it to look worse when they hate on him.

Just sayin.... Glad to see a good game today. Congrats to TCA and Signal on their seasons. Best wishes in the future Eagles.

Nick Saban's judgement is almost impeccable. He is the best CEO AND coach in FBC. Likely the best coach since you know who, but that was a different era.

TCA's all-star safety avoided way too much contact for an aspiring SEC cornerback. On at least three (3) separate occasions No. 1 avoided the hit and cost his team yardage. He pulled up and let the left corner make a tackle on a critical drive that put the game away. He was eaten alive on the goal line by a very good high school running back. He could not catch an excellent HS wide wide out with decent speed, and was burned deep. That will not cut it in the SEC.

Nice try, but the truth is apparent live: very quick, but a front runner, that is too light, and will avoid contact. I see how TCA lost 4 games.

  8. Well we did our part of bringing one of two district 6 titles back to town...people do not realize how good Signal is...We are good and they beat us..the game could have went either way but they won...with that said...They will mercy rule in this game like we did tonight...

Awesome showing today. Another entry on the US 72 sign. I love it.

I feared the unknown in Jo Byrnes. Mr. Hale was incredible.

Get your shades out: the future looks bright inside The Beene.

  9. 1st of all you smart mouthed east tn jerk Im not from TCA just trying to support the west. Whats it to you. 2nd over confidence is a bitter pill if your team does not hold up to your expectations. 3rd Im glad to see that you are so bothered by such a simple post. It represents your flawed sence of confidence. Pride cometh before a fall. Thats it I done with you.

Tennessee is Tennessee, three Grand Divisions, each unique and wonderful; no place like it on earth. Our passion and willingness to stand for what we believe is right and true makes us all Volunteers.

We'll see if TCA can keep it close. SM will score early and often. Weather affects both sides; it is silly to worry about that on a synthetic field.

SM will not be flat, SM will not be over confident. SM will show up with healthy confidence, and with a chip on their shoulder - a dangerous mix.

SM will have many people in the stands, and we will be the 'home team' by any measure.

SM will play their game and score 28 in the first half. Another 24 in the second half. Catch us if you can, TCA.

It's SM's game to lose, and it can happen, but that will require a miracle. Maybe TCA has one coming.

God speed to all. See you tomorrow.

    SM 52, TCA 13

  10. 56-21 Baylor North wins this game. This one is going to get UGLY. Real UGLY. The 2A Championship game was won two weeks ago on The Creekbank.

Nope. State championship was decided in the Eagle's Nest three weeks ago, SM 56 FCS 43.

Why FCS fears TC is beyond me. Word is that FC offered to hire Signal Corp Marching Band to play for them against TC in 2011.

    Hope they work that out.

"One last victorious trip to The Creekbank, then dust Hartsville off our shoes."

  11. very possible but you never no who is gonna show up and who aint. to bad i cant stay saturday and watch it. is it going to be on any local channels back home?

Agree that SM @ SP was the best game I have ever attended. That includes UT beating Bama in 1982, and the 1986 Sugar Bowl. I think CoachP will find a way to keep the TEAM on track. We've had a plethora of players touch the ball, so you never know what scheme is coming at you. That keeps the intensity up, provided you win, and we have continued to win.

  12. THE WASHINGTON KID ALSO PLAYS FREE SAFETY.HE WILL HAVE AT LEAST 5 INTERCEPTIONS.SIGNALS QB THROWS THE BALL UP FOR GRABS ON ALL HIS PASSES.GET READY MR WASHINGTON FOR AN ALL-AMERICAN PERFORMANCE ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL.

    Now who's brain is fried?

Swindoll from FCS is the best non-Eagle player I've seen (sorry PowerP), and your guy is going to get 5?

Dream on. No keep thinking that. It will make the haul from Jackson go a bit easier. Sorry can't do much for the ride back.

    No mercy.

  13. How was the sign an excuse. Is it possible it was a fan trying to be funny? Or maybe just trying to get under peoples skin like it must of done you? Most people already said our Quad was weak. Where were you a month ago..

See you guys next year, oh wait, you won't be here. :roflol:

Good luck in 4A. I don't think you guys will do too bad there.

People can SAY anything. Quad 1 was EXPOSED last night. Two different things.

When BB started snapping the ball, it added some validity to that sign, I'll give you that.

  14. If u think SM will beat TCA by fifty the mountain air has fried your brain! SM has one weakness and thats their D line! Give JW time to throw and he will have a field day my friend! Yes you might beat TCA if you u think by fifty you are in sain! You better blanket one Mr. Hanson are it will be a long night for SM!! GO GO GO TCA!!! :thumb:

Nice redemptive win against McKenzie. Good stuff for your program and your young men.

Why yes, yes it has. Mountain air is perfect this AM, just like SM record.

If TCA can score 53, then they have a chance. But I think SM is a shade better than Middleton, and we win any shootout.

  15. Thanks for the updates tonight btw...Kinda already knew what would happen though before since we played Boyd...State Champions in the same district has a nice ring to it

Have 2 State Champions ever come from the same district?

PowerP - love all kinds of things about SP. You all ought to be proud at every level: great town, great foundry, The Beene, excellent fans, player pride, and real tradition.

Looking forward to see another entry to the State Championship sign out on US 72.

  16. Sm the best 4a team in 2a

Saw that same declaration on the end of the visitor's stands last night - before the game. Never in my life have I seen fans declaring an excuse BEFORE a contest. Well you needed that one and more.

Perhaps the BB sign makers ought to work with their players on snapping the football consistently. And throwing something other than a recreation league-grade forward pass. Those are fundamentals required in any division and classification.

And, whilst I am riled, Quad 1 was a joke. SM, TC, and FCS would have Mercy Ruled their way through that quad.

    On to Cookeville!

  17. I guess the paper caught all of the defensive adjustments that are being made this week as well huh?

Hey, you pointed out the article.

Rhea County ran that D once-upon-a-time. They had enough Div 1 prospects to make it work, and one heck of a coach in Bill Horton, who passed way too soon after a valiant battle with cancer. The Levee Bucs will never be mistaken for those teams.

What SM offense are the Levee Bucs going to adjust their 4-4 base D? Power I? Regular I? Five Wide? Zone Read?

Not quite enough time to make meaningful adjustments.

  18. Couple write ups on the game at timesfreepress.com. Seems the Bucs and the Eagles are making some Hamilton Co. history Friday night. Going to be a night to remember. :thumb:

    http://timesfreepress.com/news/2010/nov/23/stout-defense-still-bucs-key/

Article says "4-4" defense with single safety. If my mountain math is correct, that leaves at least one CB in man coverage. We'll take that.

Look for a rope-a-dope in the First Half and lights out in the Second. Just like SP, just like TC.

Nothing on your schedule says that BB can perform to FCS level, and that is what it will take for it to be CLOSE.

    Enough said.

  19. I thought he did pretty good!

    Me, too.

    Post No. 1

Ranking of 2010 SM opponents, IMHO:

FCS (best opposing player - Swindoll)

South Pitt (best pregame tradition and fans)

    Trousdale (No comment)

Sequatchie County (Amazing 3-1000 yard rushers)

BBS is another quality opponent, because of their momentum, and experience from last year. Copper Basin was a quality win that should concern SM. All playoff wins are quality wins.

Where they fit on the list is TBD. Ought to be a close one.
