  1. Actually, the two administrators talked and agreed to make the change. Amazing to think the administrators might actually make a decision without getting on here and asking for approval. Who in their right mind would rather come back from Christmas break and play the first day the students are back? Sorry, but you'll have to look somewhere else to dog your favorite nemesis, Petrone.
  2. Yes, there is a guy ( a volunteer) coaching the team! Guess TSSAA rules of advertising the position does not apply to Greenbrier. Who would have thought you couldn't find someone experienced to coach a AA team. Come on now, do we really believe this??? Could they have yelled out "We don't care about the girls' program any more?" If you want to coach in high school, and not just AAU, get the degree! If it's not that improtant to you stick to the volunteer teams.
  3. I've never met anyone considered a 'Hot Dog' that was not good at whatever he's doing! Wonder why no other coach is so discussed? Could it be that they are content to be mediocre, and therefore whatever happens with their team is alright? The only thing that's wrong with you people is you've realized that someone can actually take five non-sought after boys, coach them, and have them be competetive. Most of the other coaches in the district have had YEARS of developing a winning team (not just 4 years) and they are not consistently in the top of the pack. The other coaches do not have any better personalities. I can understand feeling threatened and insecure in your abilities, but come on, is that really Petrone's fault? Maybe if you worked harder from your end, as coach, your team would be more consistently in the top of the mix. I honestly don't blame the players for not succeeding. It has been proven you can make winners out of any team willing to work hard. You don't like Coach Petrone? OK, but wouldn't it be nice if you had a coach that cared if your team succeeded? Just be glad you don't have to have someone coach your child that knows what it takes to be a winner. I hope you are always happy with your mediocre coach and his mediocre season. I hope you do OK in the tournament.
  4. Yes, what goes 'round comes 'round - an important phrase to remember. Was the game changed? Yes. Should anyone else care? No! If all schools would just take care of themselves and leave the policing of the others alone, we'd all be better off. Ususally, the district meeting is held on the Saturday before the tournament begins. This year CA decided to set it earlier. Their call, who cares? But, if the meeting had been left on Saturday, moving the game from Thursday to Friday wouldn't have been a big deal. But, again, that was CA's call. But, whoever heard of a coach thinking he could make a motion for the tournament director to be able to make the call on when a regular season game is going to be played? If that's the case, the tournament director would have to be responsible for everybody's schedule for the whole season, not just the last one. No one would want that job - no one, that is that puts in the needed time to be a good coach. Those of you who have so much to say about Coach Petrone should wish your coach put in so much time to build a good program. You can say whatever you wish about his ways but if you step away from your emotions you will have to admit he knows the game of basketball and he knows how to teach it to his players. Not every coach can say that. And, that my friends, leaves a bitter, bitter taste in the mouth which comes across as sour grapes. Good luck to all the teams!
