80-21? Misprint? By my calculations, That 7 TDs to 3 TDs? Hard to believe that the coaches from both institutions would let it get to that point before calling it a day in a Spring Scrimmage. Does not mean anything anyway. Good luck to both programs in the fall.

If this is true, based on what has been said by oldkob & no other info provided, the kid should not allowed to be back. He bailed on his teammates when it got tough and showed poor character. It may not be a true indication of the player and his true character, but you cannot do that to your teammates.

Finley would a great hire for HL. He has done some great things at Cheatham County. I am not sure if Metro will break away from their tendency of hiring from within the system. That is a shame because I know of plenty of coaches who would take Metro teams to great levels if given the chance. The problem is, they do not get that chance. Good luck to HL and to Coach Finley in whatever his future may be.

When will the High school football change the rule allowing the defense to score on the point after score try? I have always thought that the offense has 2 choices to earn pts after scoring: xpt or 2 pt try. Yet, the defense cannot benefit from creating a turnover on the xtra pt try. Make it like college. To my knowledge, it is the only play in football where the defense cannot earn pts. It would be a simple rule change and make the pt after try much more meaningful and exciting.

BigD, The lack of interest and lack of news should speak volumes about this job. Good luck to the very few interested in working at the graveyard that is coaching in Hickman County. The kids deserve support from the top to the bottom. Not just talk, but real support. Good Luck Coach Smithson in finding your man.

Amen Loveit. Great points and post. The question I have for Eastbaseball & eaglepride is this: What was Coach King's reaction when you said these awful things to his face? I ask this because your screen names suggest that you support EH in every way, shape and form. Please share Coach King's reaction with the CoachT nation. I am in no way affiliated with EH, but have observed from afar for many years the ways of Hickman County as a whole. I remember when it was announced that Lyles was finally getting their own school and "breaking away" from Centerville and how excited the East side was. I remember hearing East side folk during summer baseball games or AAU basketball games how they were not going to be like Centerville. They were going to support the school and not play politics in anything. In only 4 short years, look what has happened. Here is some advice, instead of bashing the coaches in all the sports, go to the administration (central office) and get in their faces for making EH play a varsity schedule in year 1!. They should have let EH play a JV schedule for 2 years and let the program develope. Instead, the kids had to endure punishment at the hands of one of the toughest 2A/3A/4A districts in the state. Get behind your coaches and support the program. It is only hurting the kids who care and give effort for their school and community. Good luck East and keep working hard. Listen to your coaches and don't give the naysayers the time of day. Coaches, likewise. BTW, if Montgomery Central really has that policy, I love it.

All seems "ok" at this point. Coach King is still HC at East Hickamn, as he should be. Still building program. The outside forces that try to control all that is Hickman County is still prevelant and will cause problems. That is not new nor is it a surprise. Tough district to compete in. The high school needs support from Middle school environment. Good luck East!

wreagle71, I apologize for the misspelling of Coach Hillin(g)sworth. I guess me winning the 3rd grade spelling bee back in 1978 did not serve me well. If we had ESPN back in those days, I would have demolished the competition in the Scripps Spelling Bee, in particular Peg McCarthy, the winner in 1978. I would have taken her down! Now...back to Coach Hollin(g)sworth. Good luck coach. You are doing a grerat job @ Station Camp. Be patient with the school getting bigger & bigger. They will adjust and succeed.

I do not know anything about staff changes, but I do know this: Coach Hollingsworth has done a great job @ Station Camp. Their school has grown almost too fast for their own good. There is a big difference in competing @ 3A and 5-6A. It will take some time to catch up, ask Portland HIgh School. Coach Hollingsworth will get them back up to speed. Good Luck Station Camp.

O'Conner keeps it simple, but effective. He will run some 2x2 & 3x1 spread looks. He mixes in veer priciples out of that package. He also likes to run some Maryland I and ram it down your throat. He will throw the ball down the field at least 5 times a game.

What about O'Toole? I am not in the mix or know much about Midway. I just know he is from there and is still coaching there I assume?
