Great Synopsis.
I think Simpson won the Pan Ams. It appears he was balancing military duties while wrestling internationally.
Bill Harlow was a 3x national champ / world team member placing 2nd in the 1970 world championships.
Clearly Marabale and Harlow are our most decorated Tennessens on the international scene.

Nick Marable (CBHS) made the 2014 US Freestyle World Team at 70 kg and wrestled in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Nick was 2-1 at the event finishing in 8th after losing to multi-time world medalist Shabanov of Belarus. He holds the dubious honor of being the first wrestler to beat Jordan Burroughs in international competition. He won a couple of US Nationals, placed at senior Pan-Am’s, was on two World Cup teams, and placed at several international events. I think that is going to put him as most successful in the modern era at least.
Nick Boykin (Riverdale) is having a good run and showing he can compete and be close to the top spot in the US at the senior level. I am pretty sure Nick has made at least one age group world team (Jr or U23) but I am not going to look it up and could be wrong.
Beyond Marable and Nick Boykin, I think Phillip Simpson (MBA) got to wrestle in the Pan Am’s maybe… don’t quote me there but he was on the circuit a while during his Army stint and competitive at the senior level.
Behind that it’s probably Tommy Brackett (CBHS) who has been in and around the senior level a while and made a U23 Greco team in 2021, got to wrestle and place at a couple of Pan AM age group events, and has made several international tours. He was a match or two out from qualifying for the Olympic trials this cycle. He has finished second in various age group world team trials a handful of times.
If people knew the guys he beat that year haha.....he had an incredible year
James Green
Dustin Schalter
Moza Fay
Hunter Steiber
Logan Massa
Adam Hall
Jordan Burroughs

So clueless….Allan has never given us travel busses.
1) Allan gives us and Bradley the same money
2) Allan isn’t our biggest donor ha
3) We have fundraised more money than anyone has given us.
4) Money definitely helps, and the better we get, the more people want to help us out….we will never turn that down ha
5) Anyone really inside our program understands the impact Coach knox has beyond the HS level.
BTW Kramer/Hamm are incredible coaches, as is Pete Miller and Coach Foreman….. ironically they all value their feeder program.
Enjoy your summer guys….i’ll check back in later to whine about something else.
-
Ha never whiny…. just love hearing all the reasons why we are successful from people who are oblivious to what’s going on.
Next few years will be fun to hear why….Allan must have added a few coaches to the payroll.
-
And done assume bc we bring in high caliber kids as freshman, “anyone” can coach them…and more importantly development them.
Takes someone with a high wrestling IQ, and commitment to their long term development to continuously have each kid progress every year.
Graduating 2 seniors this year, there was plenty of opportunity for Bradley or Summit to beat us.
-
Ha they were good bc of the attention and commitment he’s got for the youth. Everyone has that opportunity, not all value it.
What we have didn’t happen over night…..and only getting better
-
That statement is ridiculous. What Knox has done behind the scenes leading up to his head coach beginning is a major reason he’s been winning.
If anyone has “built” a program….. it’s Knox and Cleveland. He’s not only at HS practice, but he’s at club practice, beginner practice, and traveling to tournaments with the kids club.

Read the article…. he matches what is funded (limited amount).
Financial Opportunities are EXACTLY the same.
The money he matches isn’t even close to what we fundraise in total.
So yes, Bradley does have the same financial resources.
Feel free to get with me and i’ll explain exactly what he does for us….. i’m confident you would be very surprised.
With that being said, what he does is VERY helpful and contributes to the success we have.

4. Bradley Central: it must be both frustrating and difficult to be the perennial number two team in both D1 and your own county. If Bradley Central had the same financial resources as Cleveland it would be a true war for the number one program in D1. While Allan Jones has provided some funds to BC it's nothing close and it never will be close to what he has provided Cleveland.
I’ll bite.
Bradley gets the EXACT funding we get at Cleveland.

You really think money is the reason why Cleveland has had the edge over Bradley?
I mean I could understand you saying that about ANY other program but not Bradley ha.

I’ll drive to Cleveland to work a shift at the firework tent if that means supporting the girls in TN as a Whole.
That firework stand was ran by Cleveland Wrestlers. What’s that have to do with anything? I am glad you see that we are out busting our butts to give our program the best opportunities.

TNUSAW definitely wanted to add girls.
They reached out, and myself and Panone of GA were trying to make it happen.
Problem is there was a donation to fund the boys singlets and event apparel given to the boys.
We didn’t have that for the girls, so it was either wrestle the event with girls and make them pay….or not give the girls any gear. Neither were a good idea to myself or Panone.
With girls wrestling going, hopefully people will help find these events financially in the future.
Plan is to have this by next year and do it right.
People DO care about girls wrestling in TN…. actually a lot of people. We just need to be proactive and get people involved who just want to help, in any way needed.

I see alot of people talking about Cordero, and how the wrestle off was controversial? I would love to know what was so controversial about it? Cleveland does two wrestle offs during the season so all the kids know it is coming. They brought in an outside refreeze to ref the match as well. Kids found out on Friday that it would be on Monday then it got moved to Tuesday. Dyer was a pound over going into Tuesday. I get it he was a Senior and was ranked number 1 but he lost twice in both wrestle offs. So i would love to know what was so controversial? That kid didn't make any excuses( just released from having a broken collarbone 13 days before the wrestle off, and he had the flue 6 days after that) when he lost the first time, he got to work and made it happen for himself. Nothing against the Dyers, but to say something is controversial when it wasn't is ludacris to me
Nothing controversial. You are listening to people who have no clue what goes inside our program.
Both families are AWESOME.
Both kids are AWESOME
Hopefully Cole can get him a State Title and finish his Senior year strong.

My guess is I know more than you think I know.
This isn't anything new. We know who the money comes from and where it goes. And while, no, money doesn't buy success, it certainly helps fund it.
Again, nobody is dogging the programs for getting it. If any other school in the state had the opportunity to take it they would, and nobody would blame them for it.
You know nothing ha…. people inside our program know what goes on and when we have new people come into our program they also learn the truth.
We have a GREAT thing going on, and people who are jealous can’t grasp that it just may be because we put in A LOT of time, work hard, and do things the right way. We value the opportunity to take a 5 year old and teach them to love the sport….and when you can do that…. you start winning a lot. Do families move in? Yea, and recently we have had quite a few. But they are coming to us in 3rd,4th grade. We have a competitive environment and are committed to the KIDS.
Like i said before, a bunch of other programs do this as well. Blackman, Cookeville, Seymour,Soddy, Halls, and Boyd all have killer youth programs who do the same.
but back to it…..
Where does it go?

Everybody knows BC and Cleveland get more money than any other div 1 school in the state. Its not new news. I wish they'd just come out and say it. Own it. Instead of trying to give other reasons.
Nobody faults them for getting more money. Its just how the chips fell. But dont pretend it doenst exist lol
I’ll bite
It’s public record what Allan gives both our programs, and it’s USUALLY the same amount. While it’s very helpful, it does no more than help with yearly facility upkeep, support for club kids who are unfortunate, and supports myself and other coaches in most travel events we have.
Coach Knox, myself, and our program have INDEPENDENTLY raised over 100k in the last year alone to give our program/kids every opportunity possible to accomplish the goals they have set.
So yes, Cleveland is in a good spot, but it’s bc we put our nose down and work. Not saying others don’t, bc i see it first hand. Programs like Blackman, Cookeville, Seymour, Soddy, Halls and Boyd have be doing the same thing for a long time!!!
Looking at the history of your post you seems to enjoy attacking Cleveland every opportunity you can get, which personally lets me know we are still KILLING IT!!!
Good news for you, we are only getting better ha…. plenty more content for you to hate on for the next 15 years or so. Look forward to seeing how frustrated we make you.
BTW Grant Lundy won State that year

Everyone knows that the Al Dvorak Tournament is not the same caliber of tournament as the Beast of The East but it is a solid high school wrestling tournament. I have little doubt that it would be more difficult than the Tennessee State Tournament.
Dvorak is one of the toughest in season competitions….. some weights will be tougher than Beast for sure.
Last year Dvorak Champions:
Seth Mendoza- Fargo Champion
Ben Davino- Current #1 in country
Sergio Lemley- Current #2 in country
Dylan Gilcher-Super 32 Champ
Tommy Curran- UWW All American
Brayden Thompson-Current #1 in country
Koy Hopke- Fargo Champ…on World Team

Maggie is a 3X State Champion from Bartlett HS, looking for her 4th State Title this year. She has seen success at every level.
She has a fun style, always looking to score points and pin everyone.....If you are at a tournament with her competing be sure to check her out.
Life University recently won a National Dual Championship and have one of the best womens programs in the country.
