  1. Were you a coach, you would understand that it is never a good idea to second-guess another coaching staff when you have no idea what transpired this year. Whatever the purpose of the original post on this topic, it has become clear that some seek simply to bash BA. Is the original criticism warranted? Frankly, I don't know, but having had a son compete against BA in several sports, including football, over the last few years, I doubt it. The BA coaching staffs that I have observed have been uniformly excellent. Is it appropriate to trash a well-respected coaching staff without knowing what really transpired? No, it is not. Congratulations to this fine student-athlete and best wishes to him in the future. From all that i've heard, BA is an excellent school. but you know as well as i do that sometimes it only takes a bad apple to spoil the whole batch..

And again, are YOU a coach?

  4. No wonder you know so much about football. Don't let your youngest boy play for someone like Coach Potter...
  5. Did you just stoop so low as to bring "faculty members" in on the topic concerning this exceptionally gifted athlete? I can't even continue to have a reasonable discussion with you anymore. Boy, do you ever play dirty!!!!!!! Oh by the way; Teams with the best talent do go undefeated when coached Correctly!!!!!!!! BRENTWOOD ACADEMY SHOULD HAVE GONE UNDEFEATED THIS YEAR!!!........... I just saw my hounds chasing a deer! What!!! Gotta Go!!!!!!!!!!...............
  6. Ok.... I'm back. I'm disgusted with coaches who often times give us coaches a bad wrap! Will somebody please apologize to this Joshua for the ignorance shown in the way that he was handled this season. He's owed that!! Nike7, you said that he "never reclaimed his spot back". Say what! You are so inconsistent! You make it sound like this young man didn't want to play anymore. A D1 prospect of his caliber and from what I saw on the highlights. You suggesting that he loss all or much of his desire to complete anymore for a/his position... and that was at a position he was so good(MVP good) at as when he competed(slot-receiver) at the All-Star game! Either you are LYING or he shouldn't have made the All-Star team. Well... we know he made the All-Star team so you must be.....!!! You also said "he never reclaimed his spot back". Then the kid in front of him must have at least 10 D1 offers and could you please post his highlight video so I can watch him and see his greatness and start looking for him next year on TV on Saturdays. You also said "you could have really used him this year". No, you SHOULD have used him this year. "THEN, YOU PROBABLY WOULD HAVE WON THE STATE". The head coach make the decision on who to use. Bad, bad coaching. Stop taking up for such subpar coaching. For you to try to discredit this young man just to defend the coach makes me question your character as a man. Or are you a man? I'm not being funny....because if you are a woman, I apologize for calling you a man. I already question your football I.Q.... no, correction.. actually, it's not in question any more; I've concluded..YOU and YOUR SOURCE don't know much about football at all!!!... Also Nike7, not once have you questioned or challenged objectively this coach's ability to coach well, handle players properly, nurture(build up young men), put players in the best position to help the team succeed(all these things good coaches do) You have a lot of information before you! Either you are Coach Potter himself, one of his assistant coaches, the waterboy or you are just what we call people like you, a "puppet on a string"! Sorry. It is what it is! How can you be so bias!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!...... I hear my hounds outside barking. Gotta go chase another rabbit......
  7. Oh by way.. "Pattonboysdad", are you a coach? you sure do know your football. Thanks for starting this. I'm through chasing this rabbit. Have others to chase.
  8. Thank you for your honesty on the sarcasm "doct". But your sarcasm muse me; especially on an issue that seems like "Classic Bad Coaching". First of all, Ba's inability to score was a problem this year. Running up the scores on sub-par teams does not mean you do not have a problem scoring on offense. Pattonsboydad clearly pointed that out against Ensworth. From what the statics show, BA only scored 14 points on them the first time and only 20 the second time and when it counted the most. Also, let's not forget the Baylor loss. What am I saying..when BA played teams that were good, but they really should have beaten, they did have a problem scoring!!Second of all, how does the athletes you mentioned during your sarcasm like Victor Caro, Weldon Garlington, Ridir Anoor, Al Thompson, William BeAird, Kwasel Bertrand and yes Joshua Pleasant not help your team both ways(with all this talent and so many skilled players, they should have won the State easily). This is high school football we're talking about aren't we? In high school, there are always at least 5 players that usually have to go both ways for your team to be the best it should be. I've been coaching for a long time and come from a family of coaches. This is a given in high school. Their is too great of a talent discrepancy in highschool kids. This is not college where you recruit just certain positions. For example; Corn Elder and Cory Batey for Ensworth just to name a few. Great coaching Ensworth to use your athletes to help you win the State..... i believe they will be eating BA's lunch for years to come now... ...But now back to Joshua, unlike any of the other names you and now I have mentioned from BA; Joshua had proven himself on both sides of the ball greatly. Especially on offense. The other names mentioned had not just to make a point. Makes absolutely no sense!!! Coach Potter had to already know what this kid could do. Why then you asked; maybe it was a case of the Head coach not knowing as much as what he thinks he knows(this happens often) and uses his great control anyway. Maybe it is a case of wanting play kids(for a number of reasons that I will not begin to list) that shouldn't even be on the field, maybe it is something personal or vindictive against Joshua(which would be shameful) or his dad or someone in his family(which would be shameful)(I've seen this happen before). Enough for now as for why Joshua might not have played offense this year. Either way, Bad Coaching! And if you really want to know, just ask his family. Doct and Nike7, you only heard one side of it. BA, I believe was affected on the field for his limited use. And did you Pattonboysdad say that he didn't even start until the last few games? Horrendous! If Joshua doesn't have many D1(because a D1 player he is) offers, then his recruiting has been affected as well. Gotta go. Never would want my boys to play for someone like Coach Potter! I smell something and it smells foul!!!!!
  9. "Doct" is that true? Were you being sarcastic? Own up to it if you were. And if you were, I gave you way too much credit. Your football I.Q. may be less than than Nike7. No offense, but you've been duped as well. And if you were shooting straight, then; I apologize...
  10. WELL SAID DOCT!!!and i reiterate you...the gall of the BA coaches. but one major correction... the gall of the HEAD coach...
  11. not sure where your getting your information from nike7 but somebody has seriously duped you. Apparently your athletic I.Q. is in question. If a player of Josh's ability COULDN'T be used, it points directly to the head coach. It makes no sense for someone of his ability to 'not' be used on offense if your serious about winning the State. Pattonboysdad pointed out that Josh has played on varsity since his freshman year and and from what ive heard, started his sophmore and junior years, and has put up some serious numbers and highlights. http://www.youtube.com/JoshuaPleasant This kid can flat out play! Just look at the All-Star game. There's NO way that he could get it for his first three years and not get it his senior year if, in fact, the coach was actually trying to work him back in. What a cheap way out to try to negatively brand a player in his senior year to do things your way. Do you get that Nike7 and Doct? Something doesn't smell right to me either...
