Also hearing Hart will coach both teams at Trenton.

Looks like Coach Hart passed on coaching the boys, will stick just to Girls. Disappointed to hear that, he would of done an outstanding job at both. Girls will have a great year coming up however, good luck to whoever administration picks as new boys coach.

Take Henry County off the list and add Peabody.

So any movement on Hardin County or Riverside?

Who gets the Peabody job? Or, who wants the Peabody job?

Rumor is around Gibson Co area there is some talk with Coach Hart to take both programs.

  3. Congrats to The Peabody LadyTide on a Big win over Bradford last night! What an improvement thru the season by this young group of kids! District champs and now onto the Region Semis! Huge accomplishment for this group! Great job by Coach Hart again on getting his group ready and improving throughout the season! Nobody saw this group achieving this much this soon this season, lots of work still to do but gonna be very tough in the next couple years with mostly freshmen and Sophs playing! Again Congrats PHS, keep it going!

The officials were bad both ways. Called a foul on Micah and she wasn’t even around the ball. She was in foul trouble whole game. Good win. GC will get their legs back and be OK. That was a war.

Terrible officiating! Phantom fouls, phantom walks, no walk calls, no foul calls when a kid gets run through! Horrible crew for a championship game!

Great  game by both teams! Incredible adjustments and game plan by Peabody! Kids played hard and executed everything they wanted! Trenton community and Peabody fans are extremely proud of this coaching staff and players! On to the SubState game! Team is peaking at the right time! If you play this group you better be ready for some defensive pressure! Good luck to Peabody and GC Saturday night!

Tough loss tonight for us.  We shot the ball terribly from 3 and missed at least 8 layups.  A lot of that had to do with Peabody’s defensive pressure, but you still can’t miss layups like that.  Peabody’s offense did not impress me at all.  They can’t miss a 3 if they are left open, but besides that they have to score off of the fast break.  None of their players can dribble with their off hand.  00 can only go left and the rest of the team can only go right.  After we figured that out at halftime, we forced them left and they would fumble the ball right to us.  They will struggle mightily against good defensive teams that can handle the ball (ie. Gibson County, Clarkrange, etc.).

Now to after the game.  Peabody may be the most classless fan base I’ve seen.  When the game ended, their student ran onto the court taunting our players and dancing and stomping on our logo.  I can get over that because kids will do childish things, but still it is terrible sportsmanship.  But what really got me is when the parents are running on the court waving their Peabody jackets at the Greenfield fans and taunting them.  You would think as much as they have won in football that they would know how to win with class, but apparently not.  I cannot wait for Gibson County and whoever they play at State to blow them out.

What a total sore loser, classless post! You wanna talk About other fans with the way your fans acted during this game and other games over the last few years. Grow up dude, unbelievable you would try to take away a great win vs a great team on the road in a very tough environment! Never once have I posted to another team I hope they get blown out or lose, even GC lol. I have always wished teams good luck, especially west Tn teams... this shows what type of person  you are , to try to take away a big victory for a well coached great group of kids that bust their butts every second of the game. Pitiful response by you!

Now to move on ... congratulations to Peabody on a great hard fought win! Lots of things , which I won’t mention,  went against them but these kids showed how tough they are and never quit and kept battling every second! Great coached game by Hart as well! Like I’ve said before, Peabody isn’t blessed with natural basketball players, but these kids play harder than any team I’ve ever seen and they cause tremendous trouble on the defensive end with their pressure! 25th win on the season! Sub state appearance, great accomplishments already this season! Keep it going Peabody! Roll Tide!

I am still one game at a time mind frame.  Union City, like Dyersburg and many others tend to show up when they play Gibson County. I do believe both Region semis will be dogfights. Gibson County played really well last night. I agree they play like they did last night it will be hard for any team to beat them.

I agree with that as well pioneer42. Y’all have a good Sunday! I’m going to enjoy the rest of my day! Good luck to both 14-A teams tomorrow!

Yeah who doesn’t wanna see another 15-20 point GC win in a championship game......   I’m sorry.  I couldn’t help it.  Peabody plays their tales off and I could definitely see them beating Greenfield.  Nobody is beating the GC team I watched last night until they get to the glass house.  And even then good luck.

It’s ok GlassHouse never know what happens, besides I said I’d like to see it. Could careless what you think. Big accomplishment for the Peabody group as they continue to over achieve. You get the gold star for smart ####  of the day at the moment Though congrats! Must live in a Glasshouse also sorry couldn’t help it. lol.

Greenfield has better guard play than Gleason and they can shoot the 3 better. Greenfield is very discipled and they don't panic when pressured. I think that Peabody/ Greenfield is a tossup rn... could see either team winning.

Will for sure be a great game! If Peabody brings the pressure and executes the game plan like they did vs Gleason last night, Peabody will come away with the win! Totally took Gleason out of anything they wanted to do! Very impressive! I hope we get another GC vs Peabody match up in Region finals!

Agree.  Hart is a great coach.  And has his teams ready.  But I disagree with him winning the award.  Wilkins has the #1 ranked team in the state returning one starter and only 2 that played at all last year.  And beat Hart by 15-20 every time they played.  Saying that Wilkins was hands down the best coach in the district  does not at all take away from Hart.  Same goes with Haskins.   Agree with whoever it was that said coaches don’t like getting beat over and over and over by the same coach.   That’s the only excuse for them not winning the award.   Jealousy is ugly.

If that jealousy theory holds true then neither should of won the award cause Peabody has beat the same teams GC has over and over again also lol. Best coach isn’t always the team with the most talent. Not saying Wilkins isn’t a great coach just saying sometimes best coaching job is done by coaches with less talent. GC has 3 kids that’s been doing the same thing since 5th grade, Peabody doesn’t. Just my opinion.

Wilkins goes undefeated in the District, loses 1 ball game to a top five team in the state, has had his team ranked number 1 in the AP poll the last 6 weeks, lost 6 players in the 8 man rotation last year, lost 7 players in 2019, has not a senior on this team and has two freshman and a sophomore in his top 6 or 7 this year and has beat Peabody all three times by double digits and was not the coach of the year in the District. Peabody coach has had a good year returning every player from last years team but really??? Did the Peabody Booster Club vote this award??? Unbelievable a coach with these accomplishments doesn’t win this award. But is the world we are living in.

This is a comical post! Congratulations to Coach Hart on winning Coach of the year! One of the best coaches around! Great respect from his fellow coaches! Amazing coaching job this year to help lead the team to a 24-6 record, state ranked, beat some of the best teams around, battle for a district championship again as well as going to be in the hunt for a region championship! Has made numerous adjustments throughout the year as well with the number of injuries this team has had this year with CeCe missing several games and not to mention an All-district and perhaps Peabody’s best player the starting pg going down early in the season to a season ending ACL injury. I could keep going on and on about numerous things from Coach Hart from changing the program around from a losing program for numerous years from mid 2000’s to where it is now to how 2 freshmen get big minutes including one being a starter and another player that’s never played before being first off the bench. Coach Hart does more with the players he gets than any other coach around! I’d put money on that. That’s the definition of a great coach! Again congrats Coach Hart!

They played hard as they always do!! Gibson County just has too much muscle in the paint. I will agree that they match up ten times better with Greenfield than they do Union City. Gleason won’t be easy either but I think they match up with them well also. Got a decent shot to make state.

    Agreed on all points

  12. Hadn’t seen Peabody play in a few weeks! They battled their butts off tonight! Straight up dog fight!  GC is a very good team but didn’t have it easy!  I think these 2 see each other again in a Region Championship! Especially after Union City went down tonight and is now matched up on GC side of region! Peabody is a Top 5 or 6 team in the state!

I know Union City is a good team, and this is not a diss on them because I like what Reedy is doing there, but how was the game with Peabody that close?

Well Peabody isn’t a horrible team for one, had GC on the ropes in the 2nd game if you remember. Great coach with a great game plan and kids executed it. UC didn’t impress me. Not much offense run from UC, all iso looked to me like and Peabody guarded it. Youth and inexperience cost Peabody as they hit a scoring drought in the 2nd half, turned it over vs a zone too much and then got body slammed without any calls from horrible Memphis officials. I don’t see UC beating GC but I could be wrong. Peabody exceeded expectations this year with how young they are, I expect them to be very good next year. Coach Hart does more with less basketball talent than any coach around. Congrats to Peabody on another good year!

Any of you West TN folks hear anything about Peabody getting beat last night by West Carroll?  I saw Peabody this summer and they looked good.  I know it's early, but that score surprised me

Haven’t been on here in a while, hope everyone is doing well! Peabody is way down this year, first time in a long time that Peabody doesn’t have 2-3 really good seniors that can lead the team. Very young and inexperienced team. Think leading returning player avgd almost 2 pts last yr. What would of been starting PG moved off to Memphis after her mom got a transfer in her job to there. So different positions for these kids. Also the gym was off limits for about 2 months leading up to the season for floor repair so I think there was a lot of missed pre season work which will hurt this group. The school needs an auxiliary gym bad! I will say the future looks good though as 8 kids return next year and there’s a couple talented kids in the ms that will be able to come across to play next year, johnson girls younger sister and a post player. I expect this team to improve greatly by January but right now they will struggle big time till they get some things figured out till then. With Hart getting them to come around about district time , I expect them to surprise a lot of people.

Clarkrange is a very good team. No difference between Greenfield, Loretto and them, IMO. Losing our PG on day 1 of summer was huge. We were undefeated during AAU season and literally you could count TO's on one hand in AAU play. We literally had about 25 TO's in the game against Clarkrange. Not saying we would beat you because your team is really good as they were last year but we have lost several games since she got hurt. Beat some good teams but she is a beast PG. The Monday's are really great players and are some kind of quick and handle the ball well. Really like your team's chances as I did last year. Last years state game against Greenfield was just a bad game, IMO.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but who is the PG for GC you keep talking about? I only saw a couple games last year and I don’t remember another kid handling the ball at point besides the Lannom girl. Is she a freshmen? Didn’t get to see any AAU/ travel ball either. Not that spring stuff matters much anyway.  I just found out that Peabody PG that would be starting for them this year, her mother’s job transferred her to Memphis so Peabody has been playing without a true PG this summer. I don’t think the west will be as tough as last yr with the exception of Greenfield. I don’t even think Gleason will be any improved either. Looks like same ol same ol ball from Gleason. They are a year older with several decent seniors but I just haven’t seen much improvement in them the last 3 yrs.

Good to know Gleason playing fast. They played us slow, slow last year. Gleason and Dresden both will be good as will UC. GC was undefeated with their PG in AAU and lost her first day of summer camp. We have beat Covington. Batesville AR (defending 4 A Champs in AR) who beat Greenfield and Martin, and Memphis Business without our PG but have struggled a ton since she got hurt. Summertown obviously tough and was last year just went through some stretches we are going through this summer with TO's. GC JV beat Riverdale JV this week in which I am super happy with the future of GC. Clarkrange, Greenfield and Loretto super tough. Single A will be a monster again this year.

Saw Peabody for the first time today. Totally destroyed Union City! Was never a ball game! Over 20pts.  One of the quickest/fastest teams I’ve seen over the last several years at Peabody, and Peabody has had some speed the last several years! Never allowed UC to get comfortable, Shot the ball well today also from 2 games I saw. Very impressed with them this early on. Couple UC people did say they played GC to a tie the other day but It’s summer, so we all know how far wins and losses in summer and scores go. Heard Peabody has been about like everyone else up and down this summer, but if they play like they did today they will be very good come district time!

Got a chance to see South Side play Trenton Peabody today at Westview's team camp. And let me tell you, the pace of the game was fun to watch. South Side is young now after losing key players to graduation. Ditto for Trenton Peabody. Lots of mistakes, as you would expect working new players into starting roles. But I think come after the new year, both teams will be gradually improved. CeCe Johnson for Peabody (2021) Speedy, left handed guard who can attack in transition and is a solid passer, also gets after it defensively. Needs to develop her offensive game but the tools are there. South Side has a post in (2022) Sharneece Currie-Jelks who already has offers from D1 schools, athletic-long forward who is a willing ballhandler with a evolving offensive game. Also #12 for Peabody (heard she's a freshman) is gonna be a player to watch the next few years. She is one of the quickest players I've seen in a while.

That’s great! I know Coach Hart at Peabody has said this could be his fastest and quickest group that can trap and press all over the floor! They got to figure out the offensive end but with all being current sophomores and below they could be very dangerous after new year and into next season! He’s excited about 2 incoming freshmen, especially one who he’s said could be better than Mayberry! I need to get to a camp and see them play this summer!

Viewed a bit of summer ball over @ Bethel monday afternoon. Huntingdon looked good as did Trenton. Peabody did a good job penetrating the Fillie defense. They've got very good quickness. Mckenzie looked OK but we missing a couple starters. Clarksburg may surprise some folks. Pretty solid team. Bradford looked OK. South Gibson has a lot of work to do. Fillies probably looked to be the best team I saw. Girls seem to be buying in to coach Wilkins system. Reed and Swenson are elevating their game. Very talented duo.

That’s great to hear if Peabody is looking decent this early on after everything they have graduated the last 2 years. I know this years team for Coach Hart will be extremely young and inexperienced! All current sophs and below. Be interesting to see how Hart develops the 8th graders and how quickly they can play because they didn’t have much in middle school. Not a huge group of kids either, I think will only be 8-10 kids playing so that could be a problem when pressing with fouls as Peabody is usually very aggressive with Coach Hart’s style of defense and offense.
