  3. Hey Everyone

We are hosting a girls tournament this Saturday at Centennial. Girls will weigh in at 11:30 and start after the boys tournament finishes up around 1pm.

As of now we have about 50 girls signed up and want to try and add about 30 more.

If you are interested let me know

    Thanks

  4. Missing a few I think between Rossview and Father Ryan

    Here are the 8 teams

    Beech

    Blackman

    Centennial

    Father Ryan

    Northwest

    Rossview

    Stewarts Creek

    West Creek

We really wish we could have added a few more teams but due to our gym restrictions this is about all we can do.

  5. Hey Everyone

Due to a cancelation of a tournament we were set to go to we are trying to do an 8 man invite. We are keeping it small so we give our wrestlers the best chance to be able to wrestle that day. So far we have the following teams coming. If you are interested email me and let me know.  We would like to get 2 more teams with full line ups to fill it out. Should be a tough little tournament.

    Beech

    Blackman

    Centennial

    Northwest

    Summit

    West Creek.

    Thanks

  6. The tournament I was going to send my JV on Dec 5th is no longer happening. I am thinking about trying to do a jv night of wrestling on Friday Dec 4th . We would weigh in close to 4 and start wrestling by 5:30.

I am hoping to have 3 mats and just make 4 man round robins to just get the wrestlers some matches.

If you are interested let me know. I will try to keep it around 120 wrestlers so we can get through the matches and get out at a good time for Saturdays wrestling.

    Thanks

  7. Hey Everyone,

I thought it would be easy to have a thread on here that we can look for dates for the season. I know two tournaments we are scheduled to wrestle in have been downsized by half of the teams. I am sure we are going to see more tournaments either canceled or limited on teams. We have already seen other sports losing games because of cancellations and not being able to find a replacement (happened at my school for football, volleyball and soccer ) If anyone decides to start a tournament or needs to fill a date with a dual or whatever post it here and we can try to help each other out. Lets all work together to try and ensure we have as close to a normal season as possible

Thanks and best of luck to everyone as we get started.

Anyone know of any Coaching opportunities available? I have multiple teaching certifications. Thanks.

Go to tssaa.org and search job opportunities. Wrestling will be about half way down and I believe there are 4 or 5 openings posted there.

interesting. i mean, if it works, it works..but it’s not a necessity. i remember when i was in school and we’d have our home tournament, and all the coaches would come the night before and sit in a room and do it all. technology is taking over the world. but the “lack of results on track” isn’t a good excuse. it was done before track, it can be done without it.

we still have a coaches meeting to make sure everything is ok and that something isnt out of whack but it seems to do a good job. Id say we are somewhere around 85 % or so of track seeding the top 4 that make it to states

  10. 44 minutes ago, Bump11 said:

not necessarily. why can’t it be like a regular seeding meeting? have a board of 1 or 2 coaches from each region..they seed regions and every other tournament just fine without “all” results on track

We let track seed our regional meeting and it is pretty good at getting the top guys in the right spot

This is pretty good, but I don't see how you can have a Region champ #32 when he's already beat 4-5 kids who are also in the tournament.

Yeah I dont know when or how they did the seeding but I thought they did a good of talking about some good potential matches and all that good stuff.

I understand it only effects team points within that region. I would have thought TSSAA would have all regions doing the same thing.  It just surprised me that region 7 was the only region and for state you only place the top 4 to make it. Teams could potentially be rewarded for having more kids in consolations then in the finals. And kids that lose their 4th place spot after wrestling for 3rd would not have in other regions. Fyi- this had no bearing on my wrestler. Just thinking of others and how they would have made it if in a different region.

We had this rule a couple years back and then voted it away and for some reason voted it back last year. I m not a fan of the rule and agree that it seems that teams that have more kids wrestling those extra matches are grabbing extra points.  Example we had 7 finalist (5 champs and 2 runner ups) and 1 4th place but came in 2nd in points to Brentwood that had 2 champs 1 runner up and 4th 4th place finishes. At the end of the day it is what it is team point wise but I ll take the 7 finalist of the team title.

Prior to state, AAA Rankings were

    1) Cleveland

    2) Bradley

    3) Wilson Central

    4) Blackman

Blackman did exactly what people thought they would do.

    Why the diss?

Because people want to complain about everything. So a team that finished 4th is overrated while some teams that went 1-2 overachieved.  I am not sure of the logic on that but oh well. You guys got 4th so you must have done something right.

Beech and Clarksville wrestle early every year. Has no ramifications  on the end of season (district/region) standings. we face again at that time also. So why not have Brentwood and Centennial match early to please us wrestling fans??!?

We really made a decision a couple years ago to do away with quads and focus on double duals. Everyone is happy because they get out about 1.5 hours earlier and we end up getting more people in the stands which is always great for the sport.  Our district has done a pretty good job at teaming up for double duals. I think this will be the third year in a row that us and Brentwood have been involved and we have done the same with Indy a few times.  Centennial and Brentwood will be at 4 tournaments together before we wrestle our district match in Jan so there is a great chance we see each other before than.

We are going to try and get it on track. We also have a decent size gym and welcome all the wrestling fans to come out and watch it. Great way to start off the season and Thanksgiving break.

Dual meets start in just over one week. What big matches are coming up during week 1? I know Clarksville and Brentwood will visit Centennial on Nov 26.

Its actually a double dual so Centennial and Brentwood will wrestle Clarksville and James Clemens (Alabama). Centennial and Brentwood will wrestle each other mid January.

  18. In an effort to help promote and spotlight our sport we will be hosting a wrestling media day on November 11th at 6:30 pm at Centennial's performance art building. Our county does this every year for football and basketball and we got them on board to do one for wrestling this year. All teams from Williamson County Schools will be present. We are excited to let our athletes have a little bit of time to talk about themselves, their teams and their love for the sport.

Thanks and maybe see some of you there.

Thanks Coach!  My son got some quality matches and we were out the door at record pace.  Well done Sir!

Thanks I appreciate it. Our goal is to just get them on the mat give them as many matches as possible and then hit the road. I instantly left and drove to the lake so it was perfect timing.

Thanks a lot for coming I appreciate it. Good luck to your son this upcoming season
