  5. Hey Coaches

We are excited to announce that Division I wrestling All-American and Bellator MMA world champion Michael Chandler will be hosting a wrestling clinic at Centennial High School on the morning of April 22nd from 10:00 to noon. (also bringing Jeff Bristol team captain at UC-Davis).

Michael is relocating to Nashville later this summer and wants to donate his time to our community right away!! Michael has partnered with the local Nashville charity Book ‘Em which provides over 50,000 books to financially disadvantaged youth right here in our Nashville community each year.  THE ONLY WAY to gain access to this clinic is through a t-shirt purchase at the link below for which all of the proceeds will go directly to Book ‘Em.

To purchase a shirt and put your name on the list to get on the mats and get better on April 22nd, click this link encyte.me/chandlerclinic

The link will take you to ENCYTE.ME to purchase a shirt and gain access to the clinic. There is also a step by step tutorial video on this link https://youtu.be/X2gshvl7I8o

This is going to be a great clinic and we are really excited about bringing Michael to Centennial. We are going to try and cap it at 90 so hurry and register at the link below. The cost of the clinic is $20 but that money will go right back into the community and you get a shirt when you pre register.

Hurry, the offer is good for 10 days! Thank you for your time.  See you at the top!

  6. Centennial High will be hosting the annual Cougar Challenge Summer Tournament on June 4th.

The past 2 years we have had about 100 wrestlers and have had very competitive pools (and out before 2 pm). We make these pools with the help of all coaches to get the best match ups we can for the day. In the past we have had 4 or 5 man pools with all state placers and qualifiers and others with all new wrestlers so everyone gets the mat time they need. Below is the info if interested just email me and I will pencil you in and email you as we get closer.

    Some more predictions

    Team Scores

    1.Summit

    2.Indy

    3.Centennial

    4.McGavock

    5.Brentwood

Best Match: 160 finals Kamale Strong (Hunters Lane) vs Kelvin Freeman (McGavock)

    Tournament OW: Brady Ingram (Indy)

    Coach of the Year?

    Wrestler of the Year?

    Thoughts?

    I

I would like to think we would come in 3rd but not sure going to be tough not sure how many finalist we will have. Think Franklin could be up high with a few finalist.

Also 126 and 132 could be match of the tournament

Also Brady Ingram as wrestler of the year is a shoe in.

  8. Possible top 4 seeds(no order to a certain extent)

    106 Thomas, Bridgeford, Joyner(Ant),Jennings (BW)

    113 Schoeberl, Woodward, Allen(McG),Jackson(RW) or Witt(CR)

    120 Dooley, Brothers, Powers(Sum), Luna(DC)

    126 Shrader, Klingensmith,Fowler

    132 Porter, Schnedler

    138 Ingram, Freeman, Asselin, Tierney

    145 Butler, Dooley(Ant),Bangham, Hunter(HB)

    152 Deselle, Harvey, Brown(HL)

    160 Strong(HL), Freeman(McG), Vongsa(Ant),Ables(Cen)

    170 Knott, Galbreath(Frk), Smith(Rw),Branch(Ant)

    182 Grissom,Carney,Patton(Cen), Mayfield (Ind)/Wilkerson (Ant)/Fernandez (Rw)

    195 Knight, Miller

    220 Demello, Shelton (McG)

    285 Guider(HL),Keller(Ind), Lasoya(Ovt)

I think we will end up probably seeding 6 or so in many classes as some are pretty deep. For instance you have 6 at 182 and left off Franklin's 182 pounder that is pretty good so we could have 7 seeded as they are all deserving. I think 120, 132 and 195 could also have 6 or so guys seeded.

  9. Just a few updates for you here

126 - Cole Klingensmith from Summit has 2 wins over Fowler this season.

145 - Nick and Steven are both at 138

152 - Sean has been 145 all season

285 - demello did wrestle 220 at state duals

No biggie, just a few for ya :popcorneater:

I'd say that more than a few missing from that list and others in the wrong weight class.  McGavok has a tough 113 than is capable of being in the finals.

I like Klingensmith also from 126 he is a good wrestler and looked tough this weekend

    Also missing Schedler from Indy

Antioch has a legitimate guy at 160 that can easily be in the finals

I think Franklin and Ravenwood have some guys capable of making noise.

Maybe a few more Centennial guys in there but i like the underdog role.

One thing for sure there are always a few upsets at regionals and I would expect that again this year.

  10. Why would you drop to 120 from 126? If anything, go up to 132, a lot better chance of placing in the state. 120# is probably the toughest weight in the state D1.

Probably because 126 is a lot tougher in the top 3 or 4 in region 6 than 120 is. Also i dont know if 126 or 132 is any easier in state with the possible guys that are moving around

  11. WG,"2 big wins for Halls", I was thinking the same!

Halls is a really good team not sure what the "2 big wins for halls" means but its not like those picks are upsets if they win them both. They have a bunch of good kids on their team and a few returning medalist if I m not mistaken.

  12. That's very true. And if the current state of the feeders is any indication of success for the high schools then Summit and Nolensville look to be in great shape. Pete Miller also coaches Spring Station MS, the feeder for Summit, and they won their second straight WMAA title last month.

The results and their HS in ()

    Spring Station- 231.5 (Summit)

    Mill Creek- 173.5  (Nolensville)

    Page- 146  (Page/ Some Centennial)

    Heritage- 140   (Independence)

    Brentwood- 53  (Brentwood)

    Grassland- 28  (Franklin)

    Woodland- 25   (Ravenwood)

    Freedom- 0   (Centennial)

Sunset- 0   (Was Ravenwood, will be all Nolensville in a few years)

Obviously having a good established middle school feeder makes things so much easier but if you dont have that you just got to work hard at trying to get everyone up to speed. I would say in the last 8 years or so heritage is around the middle of the pack and sometimes even lower yet Indy has been near or at the top of the region the last 8 years or so. We (cent) do not have a proven feeder but do get a couple kids from Page that can wrestle. Last year we made it to dual states and this year went 26-5 and fell one match short of returning.  We lose 3 starters this year and have most of the team coming back. We know it is hard year after year to compete so this year we started a youth club (extreme takedown) to try and help out with incoming freshman.

  13. Not only did Coach Peck leave Ravenwood to go to Nolensville, so did a lot of the kids that were there and / or coming up through the middle school programs. You have to think too that they are also loosing one of their better feeder programs, as Sunset Middle School (along with the new Mill Creek Middle) will now primarily feed Nolensville more so than Ravenwood. And to top it all off, in the two seasons he has been gone, Ravenwood has had two different coaches. The stability of the program along with loosing a pretty good feeder program (time for Woodland Middle to step up) can damage any program for multiple years to come. I feel bad for Ravenwood as I am an alumni and helped set the foundation for their 5 year run at the state tournament.

On top of that, the other programs in the county have really stepped up their game in the last few years. Good to see those teams succeed as they weren't as dominate when I was their. It always goes in cycles (unless you are the exception like Bradley, Cleveland, Soddy, Wilson, etc.)

I agree that switching coaches like ravenwood did (3 coaches in 3 years) is never easy. I also think that the district as a whole is pretty competitive now and all the teams are capable of beating the others. Probably the biggest problem facing many of these teams now is the middle school feeders. When I first moved here about 7 or 8 years ago many of the middle school teams had 40 plus wrestlers and they were all pretty good and competitive with each other. Now many of those schools cant even field a full team at the middle school level which obviously hurts the high school. Too many club sports and other options now and just not enough interest at middle school. I hope it changes.

  14. I hope he does come back. He is a hammer, not to mention itll make 138 very very very interesting!

So assuming Wilkins is at 38 when he's back that leaves us with this at 145.

    145-

    1. Knox Fuller (Bradley)

    2. Jason Chambers (Stewarts Creek)

    3. Caleb Eachus (Cleveland)

    4. ?

    5. ?

    6. ?

Anybody wanna fill in those blanks?

I'd say you can put the 145 from Bartlett up there right behind Fuller. We wrestled him (Dalton Cockman) this year and he is probably the toughest one we have seen this year.

not that rankings matter that much as i would say 2 out of the top 6 in every class wont place but that kid is pretty good

  15. Hopefully. Region 6 is a tough region. We start our district duals tomorrow with an equally tough Indy team.

should be an entertaining week or two for region 6. Whoever comes out will definitely have earned it. Ranked or not there are alot of good teams in here

  16. Everyone gets mad because I post with my head and not my heart. It hurts feelings. And then WrestlingMoses thinks he can part the waters with the silly statement "let them do the talking on the mat" He just gets mad because he can't match my intellect and because Centennial is not meeting his expectations.

Not sure whose expectations Centennial is not meeting because we really dont care about spectators opinions. We are 10-3 in duals with a loss to WC and 2 close losses to Blackman and MBA all very good teams. We didnt care last year when "the experts" said we didnt have a chance to come out of the region and go to the state duals either so we will just continue to work hard and wrestle.

Good luck to everyone this weekend there are a ton of great tournaments going on in the state. one of the best weekends of wrestling all year.

  17. Here is a list of teams coming to this Saturdays JV tournament. If you still want in and get your jv guys some good matches email me with a estimated line up by the end of the day tomorrow.
