  1. MM - I like Meigs.  I know lots of their girls from AAU ball, but not sure if they are a State Title contender.  They barely beat an East Hamilton team that starts all underclassmen, including their leading scorer who is an 8th grader.  Not sure they can beat a good team that handles their pressure defensive style.  Again, a good team, but not a top team.

Is that freshman  and eight grader not handing it to all of 5AAA except Bradley

  2. Thinking back a couple of week:

Meigs, well Meigs has the BEST player in the District and the Region and maybe the State in 1A, and surrounded by seniors

well like it or not Grace is in the district. You loose credibility when you throw around best in the State.  You need to get out more.

I sure am glad am glad she not considered as a all state player. WE ARE LITTLE OLD MEIGS CO.   TFL

We are just stating the facts : She has the best defensive player on the team guarding her every night and still averages 22 ppg. Ask the McMinn Central coach about her. She does not need the paper awards to tell her how good she is: the full ride to college will speak for itself. I am glad as a parent I don't wear rose color glasess and everybody get a trophy or who ever gets the most press coverage gets all state. Alot of kids that make allstate never play college sports. You have to have the love and the heart to play college sports. Being a athlete is not easy you must work everyday to be an athlete. To be a All State player you have to live eat and drink the sport to make it to the next level. I know I have raised three All State players even if the paper and coaches don't thinks so. I know if you were coaching and my three girls were there they would be one of the first picked for there heart, desire and skills. This is coming from a dad who has not bragged on his kids enough

  4. It's not for me to judge how the team is being worked. I do know however, that when my daughter played, parents were not on coacht bashing the coach for his decisions. We may not have agreed with every decision, but we certainly never vented publicly. That's what made that team better. Parents and players put differences aside and came together as a team to accomplish the task at hand. More of you could learn from that. Oh yeah, that team also stuck together in the summer instead of moving to which ever team best suited "their need" thus keeping Meigs County pride at home year around instead of seasonal!! Correct me, as I'm certain you will, if I'm wrong, but is it more important to you to win every game in the season, or to work as a team to get better as a team to reach the ultimate goal of post season? I also find it humerous how you buddy up with the coach and then talk about him here as if he or anyone else would t know you lol!!

You are right I never seen anyone post anything on CoachT but I did happen to hear several times people talking about the Coaches in Public but not to there faces. I think the Coach knows that we do agree on coaching styles and I have expressed my opinion to him several time.( The Coach knows who propel is because I told him) I have even expressed my opinions at time when I should have kept my mouth shut. I have a problem with making people mad. I am sorry if I have offened you with my opinion of the softball team but this whole thing started because some one taking about what was wrong with Meigs Co. I will take up for the girls any time I can. I may have not went about it the right way but you know how I am and how my passion for the game. I will end this thread for me saying if I have offended you I am sorry to you and the coach. The one thing you need to understand is when all the chips are down and you have not one to turn to I will have your and the coaches back. I hope I never lose the passion for the game I hope I just learn to control it. Oh by the way I love this game and you too.

  5. Maybe the coach new that grace was only an extra game that didn't count in pool play and wanted to get some of his younger players some experience. Maybe if the pitching was better the defense wouldn't have to work as hard. Maybe you don't know anything about TEAM ball. Maybe you need to stay home and leave the coaching to the coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are right I don't know about coaching but I do understand about pride. A lot of these girls take pride in playing for the Meigs County Lady Tigers and all during the year play with girls from different schools. Then during school ball they play some of the girls they have played during the summer and they want to show what Meigs has. The one thing I need to know if you don't coach to win then can you ask the girls to play to win all the time. So the Grace game and the Marion co was a game that we should not try to win. Would you please mark the games on the schedule that we are not going to try and win? So those of us that don't know anything about TEAM ball can stay at the house. I think you for all your wisdom on the subject I am always trying to learn about the great game of softball. You are right the pitcher are very average pitcher and don't work enough for you. But I recall when your daughter played the pitching was average and you played defense and hit the ball and you won a lot of game. But the talent level was 100%+ more than the current team. I have always ask myself every time that I coached a team can I see my players improving and getting better by the end of the year then I have done my job. I really did not worry about wins and losses because if you out work everyone the wins and losses will take of their self. You answer me one question are the current girl being worked to their full potential.

  6. Ooltewah has been getting hammered from what I can tell. Meigs was soundly beaten by East Ham in the first elimination game as well as getting beat up by Grace in pool play.

Coach got confused and thought it was JV tournament freshman pitcher pitched against Grace with two Juniors on the bench. East ham 0-0 going into 4th error allows two runs and the outfield have not learned there purpose is to catch the ball. The defense will catch up with the pitching one day. Also played JV defense against Marion with starting pitcher and top three hitters did not bat. we may play varisity next time ?????????????

  7. Sorry the other 5AA schools do not have the recruiting budget that McMinn Central has to bring the kid to school. As for Tellico all the kids with talent are going to Central. If the kids that live in Tellico went to school there they would be at the state tournament this week and a long time to come. The 8th grader from Tellico has already had her picture made in a Central jersey. But they don't recruit. Young would make a great college recruiter.

  8. I would love to see a home and home game between Jackson County and McMinn Central as it would be a great test and character builder for both teams during the season. Jackson County has played 3 of the 8 teams in the AA state tournament and has beaten them all and split with LA. I think if MC came up to the Upper Cumberland and played some teams up here it would help everyone and there would be some great games for us fans to watch! :popcorneater:

I believe it's because the Chargerettes are rarely battle tested during the season. LA, Cannon, Gibson,CPA etc....are all tested during season, districts and regions. It makes them tough, both mentally and physically. Chargerettes have 0 competition in District 5AA and Region 3AA. Sequoyah, Polk, Meigs, Sweetwater, and Chattanooga teams are usually terrible year in and year out (there have been some exceptions though). Knox Webb, Alcoa and McMinn may have been the only time CHS has "battled" this season. Girl's basketball is down and has been down in our area. (For OP:Tellico used to be great but have dropped off to getting beat every year by 1A schools in tournaments. Question should be: What happened to Tellico Girls Basketball that used to compete in AA?)

I just believe these other power house schools are tested all season. McMinn Central is not tested until sub-state. jmo

  9. I was at the game also and watched what you watched and you are right it was bad. I was told tonight by one of the officials that in a 25 point game he not going to call the pushing and shoving calls unless there was intent. Guess the rules change when you are up or down by 25 points. I did not know of this rule change I learned some thing tonight.

  10. Before this basketball season I thought Silverdale was a place I might like to send my kid. But the past couple of months have changed my mind. There are very few things you have in life and your word is one of the most important you. On Feb. 9 Meigs was to play Silverdale but the Silverdale girls coach did not won't to play this game because he said Meigs ran the score up in the first game. You as a basketball coach are looking for to things how much you improve from the first of the year and how you can play and handle the pressure of teams that are better than you. Sometimes the outcome of the second one may not turn out pretty and end up in an ugly loss. But your kids will grow from it and become a better player. We went through a tuff loss to McMinn Central lost by 40 and my daughter was at a loss for words. My advice to her was I love you; the sun will still come up tomorrow and let this loss make you a better player in the future. So many times in life parents try and remove events in our kid’s life that will make them grow to be a better person. Kid need to see how hard work is what makes them grow not Mommy or Daddy help. To say all that Silverdale gave their word to play Meigs and backed out on the game because someone’s kid would not reach their scoring average on the night. To me Silverdale is saying to the kids when times get tough just quit and find teams you can beat. Just like to say great job by the Boys coach they played McMinn Central but seen the girls would not. My motto what don't kill you makes you stronger.
