  1. Macon Co couldn't stop Blevins and company in the 4th...very disappointed as I thought Macon Co would bounce back from the Central loss.

Smith Co shocks Upperman...I thought that would be a good game and it was...just thought the inside game of Upperman would hurt Smith Co but I am assuming it didn't/

LA beat Cannon Co...no shock there.

I knew Central had shocked Macon Co and they had beat Cannon Co but I really thought DeKalb Co would catch them after the big win over Macon Co...like a trap game. Central has started turning some heads and now the question is are they for real? They play York on Tuesday so we will find out.

    York vs. Central Magnet

    Cannon Co vs. DeKalb Co

    Upperman vs LA

    Smith Co vs. Macon Co

Who does everyone got winning on Tuesday?

  2. Don't sleep on Cannon County....they can get you (ask Upperman how much they sweated it).

Should be 2 games of the night...York vs. Macon County and Smith County vs. Upperman.

These 2 should be barn burners...

    Predictions anyone?

    LA over CC

    MC over York

    Upperman over Smith

    DeKalb over CM

  3. What is up with Macon County losing to Central Magnet? It looked like a close game in the box score (I think Central was up 4 at the end of the 3rd). Macon County is good...strong post play and can stroke the 3...I saw them several times this summer and then saw them at the Smokey Mountain Tournament vs. Sevier County (who is really good by the way).

I don't get it, I thought Central was a bad team? Am I wrong?

  4. IrishBBall, you sound like someone in the know...other than what I read in the newspaper...what is going on at Bearden? I have seen his teams at some playdays on middle tennessee and he seems to run a good program and the kids play hard for him. What happened?

  5. No dog in the fight just enjoy the back and forth...I for one, am glad that CPA is mortal this year in basketball.

I know this has been said in other words but it is not really about X's and O's it is really about the jimmys and joes. Yes, X's and O's do count but if you don't have players then the X's and O's don't matter so much.

  6. Well when players can come and go as they please in Memphis and coaches can openly recruit from a city of that size i doubt anyone in Class A has much of a chance...... BUT all you have to do is win ONE game not 20 and as we all know when you get to the Glass House anything can happen.   :popcorneater:

Very true UCSportsFan but the fact of the matter is....look at the history at the glass house.

Not saying Clay County won't win a game at the Boro it is just hard to beat that Memphis region in A

  7. cannon co. is really weak this year so i wouldn't get to excited bout the win if i was cm fans.

    90Warrior,

I have no dog in the fight but shouldn't it be a big deal for CM considering their history of basketball ineptness?

So CM fans should be excited or at least hopeful for the future.

  8. I also don't know anything about the LA game.

I agree that Upperman losing to Farragut isn't a shock.

I expected Smith to at least be close to Mapplewood, but Maplewood is so athletic that sometimes they get the best teams.

Wouldn't call CM beating Gordonsville a shock as CM is a little better this year and Gordonsville has absolutely no perimeter shooting.

Also don't know much about the Dekalb game.

    Thanks radioguy.

Couldn't find out anything about the LA game although I saw them play once over the Thanksgiving break.

When I saw Smith up at Cannon County this last Friday vs. Pickett County I wouldn't think that Maplewood would give them that much of a problem...Smith County is pretty athletic themselves.

  9. Gordonsville at Central Magnet

    LA at Clarkrange

    Upperman at Farragut

    Smith County at Maplewood

DeKalb County at Warren County (DeKalb just lost their first game to Gordonsville tonight)

Ok...so tell me how this shapes the district..

CM beat Gordonsville- is this an upset or is GHS down this year?

LA at Clarkrange- have not seen a score

Upperman loses to AAA Farragut...not a shock

Smith Co gets blasted by Maplewood...I admit this is a shock.

DeKalb Co loses to Warren Co in what looks like was a competitive game (Warren Co played Upperman tough last weekend)

Is this normal for the district

  10. No, I don't believe the two freshman will change the fortunes of the team and make them a legitimate 8AA force. I'm simply comparing two teams with low expectations and saying the two freshman will make them slightly better than another bad team.

Fair enough...I can see what you mean.

  11. I understand the years past. I also understand this isn't a popular pick. Central played Dekalb tight last year for the first three quarters. The only difference is that Central gained a couple of young players, Birchfield and Carver,  that can put the ball in the basket (something Central hasn't really had before). Dekalb on the other hand, lost Aaron Patterson who was not very good, but he was the life of that team. And did not make any big additions this year.

I understand the addition of new players but if they are freshman....you really think they can make that big of a difference in 8AA? Unless they are large in stature I find it hard to believe 2 freshman are going to change the fortunes of a CM team that has been terrible for too many years.

  12. ThatRadioGuy, I don't mean to downplay Central but what have they done to not deserve 8th place? Just saying...finished last every year and we have no reason to expect otherwise this year.

Don't get me wrong...I like a good upset as the next guy but do you really think Central could move out of the cellar this year?

  13. I agree Ironowl, Livingston will still be tough but I have to think they have a few more cracks in the armor now. They lost 5 seniors I think and those seniors won a lot of TSSAA games.

I just remember seeing them at a couple of tournaments in Lebanon and Nashville and they were really good and they were physical.

I don't know what they have coming back but surely it is not as good as what they lost.

Macon county will be good but I got to wonder if they believe they can win it.

  14. The SEC has had a down year or 2 but they are on the upswing. The SEC also has way more teams in it.

They graduated a ton the last 2 years but all conferences go through those ups and downs. # of teams in the tournament the last couple of years has been weird anyway as there have been more at large births because of more parity and bracket buster games.

I will still take the SEC (Florida will be interesting to watch now that Donovan is gone though)

Besides Villanova/Georgetown who gets beat early in the NCAA almost every year it is a crap shoot for the Big East.

Agree about your Owls...did they play York tough last year? I know they beat Macon Co and I think they split with Upperman right?
