  1. I've watched Wes Conaster bowl quite a bit, and he is capable of some great bowling. Moving from Smyrna to Upperman and seeing the success of both of those teams is a testament to his ability as a team player and an individual. 2012 Avg: 213.88

Chase Smith is one of the most unique bowlers I've seen in a while who can dominate a whole field on any given day. I'd keep an eye peeled for him throughout the whole tournament. 2012 Avg: 222.03

This may go without saying, but Kyle Hubbuch is a likely top 6 contender, and I'm anxious and excited to see him bowl. 2012 Avg: 212.40

A personal favorite of mine is Tanner Johnson of Soddy Daisy, who practices very regularly and is fun to watch. If his spare game is polished, he'll be a powerful force. 2012 Avg: 212.40

Travis Bumbalough from Upperman, another favorite of mine, is a young guy who's been in the sport long enough to give the top 6 a run, and for a freshman he is very well-composed and a fantastic personality on or off the lanes. 2012 Avg: 206.97

  2. I would say that David Carpenter bowled for john overton he only bowled 2005 and 2006 and on coacht polls as 14th in the state with a 218 avg then he bowled in 2006 his senior yr and was ranked 3rd in state right under chris and kyle. that year john overton didnt make it to state but david shot 245 279 288 on his last day and ended with a 227 avg and 2 300's and 5 800's *805 824 821 802 813* in them 2 seasons he went undeated his senior year. and now 2011 mookie betts of overton that had a avg of like 254 but he only bowled started in dis and he never shot under a 700 with 86% of his games 800's aaron the kids that won this year asked his dad if mookie was bowling because him and his dad knew they would have been in trouble and he came from overton and 2010 was steven of overton dang it just looks like overton fever to me...and overton coach's in the past years hasnt even know what bowling is..

Oh yea, David Carpenter, he must have been good in his day. However, I think I saw him bowling in the Tusculum no tap tournaments last year. He never seemed to bowl that well in those. I would say his honor scores must have been on the easiest house shots ever!! And that kid aaron, he would have wiped the floor with Mr.Betts as soon as they put out the sport shot. Oh well, there are probably 50 or more bowlers that have been better than Carpenter in the last 5 years, but everyone has an opinion.

  3. Well, it was fun to watch the state bowling last week and congrats to all the finalists. I was not surprised at all to see Aaron Ruiz win the D1 and Casey Pope the D2. Both of these kids know how to play sport patterns and it was evident that not many did. Qualifying on the house shot is rediculous since it shows you really dont need to know about lane play to score on such. The cream rose to the top and until bowlers in the rest of the state get out and challenge themselves on tougher conditions the kings of high school bowling will reside in Mid. tn for the coming years. I suggest that bowlers in mid and west tn check out ssjba.org and bowl a few of these events to improve their skills. Lets see, next yr predictions for boys state.... Aaron Ruiz and Casey Pope.

  4. thats a good list with the exception of aaron ruiz, freshman from nashville. i will be shocked if brandon barnes doesnt win it, but i would say aaron will give him a run for his money. justin miller is strong and chase smith led the state in average. gonna be fun to watch.
