  1. I never said that you do know what he is paid you just said that it would be hard to lure him away because money talks. All I was saying is that I was amazed that a Greeneville would even admit this.

I never admitted anything, nor do I know anything. All I know is that Greeneville obviously has the resources to have great facilities (including the school and field) and great equipment. It’s not like Alcoa would be trying to get him from a school with no fan support and horrible facilities.

  2. and there are a few individuals in this town that could make it very difficult to lure him away from Greeneville, if they want him to stay bad enough. Money talks.

I believe you did say that.

I'm not going to argue with you. I have no idea what he is paid and haven't suggested that I do.

There are many people who have helped this program to be built up to where it is now. The new school was rebuilt several years ago and it is as nice as any school in the area. They remodeled the fieldhouse a few years ago as well. They also installed new turf a few years ago. They have a very impressive weightroom. All of this along with great coaching has built this program. I just think it would be harder for anyone to lure him away because of the support the town has shown this program. Again, I could be wrong. I know Alcoa would be a great opportunity for any coach.

  3. You are right. He has it made there. Greeneville is a 4A school with 6A facilities. He has a feeder school that attempts to run his stuff, and a bunch of county parents who want their kids to get a "city school education" and send their kids there. It would be a questionable move unless it were for some kind of family reasons, which I know of none.

That was the point I was making. It’s not like he is coaching at a place that hasn’t furnished the football program with everything they need to be successful. The school is outstanding, and the stadium is great and still improving. I’m sure Alcoa has great facilities as well, but he’s had success here and his family is established here as well. I just think it would be hard to lure him away from Greeneville. I could be wrong though, because Alcoa has a lot to offer as well.

  4. What's this? A Greeneville fan admitting that one of their coaches would be paid by people other than just Greeneville High? Wow, I just hope the other Greeneville fans on here don't find out who you are that could be a mess!

I never said that. He has everything he needs here to build a great program, which he has done. The money has built great facilities and one of the best weight rooms in the area. They are also planning to complete phase two of the new stadium at some point. Why would he want to leave considering this and the fact that he has already won here?

By the way, I have no idea what he is paid and have never even suggested that I do.

  5. What's funny is I would be willing to bet that Shuffler, Culbreth, Jefferson, and Wilson are as fast or faster than anyone on MWs team. Shuffler was timed as one of the fastest kids in the state at a UT camp last year. Faster than even Carmichael. Sometimes I think teams underestimate that greeneville can smash and dash you. They truly do have thunder and lighting.

Exactly, this isn’t a "big and slow" NE Tennessee team. They are very strong and have several very fast players.

  6. Different ball game this time ...i'm really not thinking about last year ....some of you forgot how lucky you were to come out with a win ... we stick to the plan ....come home shinning .... simple as that ...not saying you guys wont score ...you just not going to score as much as you think you are.

I think most people would tell you that I’m not a trash talker on here. I fully expect this to be a good game just like last year. Maplewood is very good team, or they wouldn’t be here.

I just get tired of people trying to act like Greeneville doesn’t have athletes. I never once saw anyone catch Carmichael when he got loose last year, and I haven’t seen anyone catch Shuffler this year (4.38 forty time). Speed is speed, it doesn’t matter where you are from. Greeneville has a ton of speed this year in addition to their power.

  7. This isn't the BRAC either my friend. Those 50-60 yard gallops are going to be 5-6 yard plays at most. How does Greeneville react to playing a team with as much size and more overall athleticism than what they have. Maplewood isn't "West Greene and Chuckey-Doak" and I strongly believe that they would have stomped Carter and Fulton just as Greeneville did.

Stewart and Hall better buckle their chin straps because Maplewood is going to hammer them!

You're right, we've never played a team like Maplewood before. Our guys will be in shock when they witness their athleticism.

Oh wait, we beat them last year. Will there ever be a time that we will not hear this crap about athleticism? Trust me, we have plenty of athletes.

  8. CONGRATS TERELL ROLLINS....WINS THE LINEMAN AWARD....YOU GO BOY...ALSO, JEMEL WAS ALSO THERE AND NOMINATED AS ONE OF THE 3 FINALIST AND IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, THE AWARD COULD HAVE VERY EASILY BEEN SHARED BY MEL AND REL. CONGRATS BOTH OF YOU EXCELLENT YOUNG MEN ON GREAT CAREERS AT GHS....ONE JOB LEFT TO DO, NOW GO GET IT YOUNG MEN. WE LOVE YOU AND ARE PROUD OF YOU. Congrats also to Dalton Boles, finalist for Mr. Tennessee class 2a back. Greene County is proud of all you young men. and lastly, congrats to young Mr. VanLier from maplewood, also a finalist with Dalton. Charlie High from CAK won that award....good job fellas.

    Congrats to Terrell Rollins.

  9. This is kind of ridiculous. We drive 6 hours and a time zone change, play on your field, you have 4 times as many seniors as we do, score multiple times on your defense that's gonna shut us out, make you punt where no Greenville fan can remember the last time you punted, that second string that was going to be in the game by mid way thru the second quarter never got to see the field and all y'all can do is cry and whine about the officiating. You all must be talking about the two turnovers Giles County had that weren't allowed due to call of stop on forward progress. Gv has a great team, Giles Co does too!

I don't think anyone is crying about the officiating. It was bad both ways if you ask me. We've actually been very respectful of your team. Maybe you missed that part?

  10. I think if Giles line had been able to withstand the pounding it was taking in the second half this one would have gone down to the wire. Greeneville had no answer for Cobb as long as his line held...the wheels fell off for the Cats in the second half when we came out with a big dose of Big Mel...That kid played 4 quarters of rumble and smash on both sides of the ball. The conditioning of Greeneville's big boys is unbelievable. There should be no question of whether these kids can go hard for 4 quarters. If that's what a diet of so-called cupcakes does for you then all I can say is "more please". Didn't make it home in time to here the stats from this one.I don't walk as fast as I used to. Can someone fill me in?

Jamel Hall and Tanner Stewart made a statement in the first drive of the second half. They just refused to go down. That was the 'heart' the team lacked at times in the first half. Something tells me the halftime speech got their attention.

  11. First of all, nothing but respect from this Greene Devil fan for the Giles County team. You guys have a very good team! You deserve more respect than you got this week. Your offensive coordinator is a master play caller in my opinion. Your QB picked us apart for much of the game.

Greeneville came out making a ton of mistakes in the first half, but the leaders stepped up and refused to lose. We needed a game like this to get ready for the Championship.

I want to thank Caine Ballard and his staff. What you have done for Greeneville football is incredible. Three championship appearances in a row… enough said.

  12. Bobcats showed up to the field house 5:50 am

put in a little work and left around 7:15

Stopped in Cookeville and cleaned out the Golden Corral

Next stop was Crossville for a walk through

should be eating in Knoxville about now.

Eating very light though....saving room for Sushi!!

Wow, there is no way I’d want to get teenagers up before 5:00am the morning of a big game. I think a couple more hours of sleep would be more beneficial than a "little work". But, I'm sure your coach knows your team better than I do.

  13. I watched the alcoa gv game and simply not impressed.

If you weren't impressed by Greeneville in that particular game, then you are the only person in the entire state that wasn't impressed.

One thing that you can't see on video is strength. Strength is why Greeneville made it look easy in that game. Do you actually think Giles Co. is physically stronger than Alcoa?

  14. quick shift in direction of this thread....Any thoughts on attendance for this one? I'm hoping Greeneville AND Giles get out and support these kids, since it's the last time some of these kids will ever play football in their lives. ( Giles fans, is 5-6 hours really too far to travel to see some of your seniors play their last game? i think not) Greeneville fans, tell a neighbor or coworker about this game friday if they dont know about it. GO DEVILS

I hope it is a big crowd. You’d expect that a lot football fans in the area would come to this game, since most teams are already done. Plus, it is a rematch of a state championship game. It should be a game that people want to watch.

  15. I saw his name mentioned and thought I would say a few kind words about a person who has money and uses it for good purposes. Most people with money spend it foolishly or hoard it up.

Very true. Did you see that story on WJHL about Jason Witten getting two cancer patients at Niswonger Children’s Hospital a ticket to his game, and Mr. Niswonger flew them down there on his jet so they could make it there more comfortably. That is the type of guy he is. He does stuff like that all the time, and very few people ever hear about it.

  16. Paid for by Mr Niswonger and Bewley!!

Should we apologize for having a few very wealthy individuals who want to help the school and community? I don't think so. I don’t see West Greene turning down their money either. I'm very thankful to have them around, and you should be as well.
