IMHO, Giles is not the same team the were last year. The're better. Cobb is more confident and more accurate. The offense is more balanced. Defense is much quicker and more athletic than last year.

No I am not in love, just in awe. They are impressive.

Fairview will have to do more than slow down Cobb to win.

I also graduated from Page in the 1980's. Our blue then was a royal blue that was lighter than the deep royal that has been used for the last several years. I do not recall it being as light as this years new blue. I don't believe Coach Rathbone ordered this new blue Will2Win. When those uniforms were ordered, he was not the head coach. Richard Herzog was at the time. It was after spring break when the new head coach was announced. And if you sat in on any of the Quarterback club meetings, you would know the ordering/selecting of the new uniforms was largely due to 2 particular families; one in particular. (February meeting when the budget was voted on to include new uniforms)

You are right Will2Wiin, none of this really matters. It is a new era for Page football. We should enjoy last weeks win and prepare for a new week and new opponent!

Can't remember seeing that much school spirit at a Page football game at least in the last 5-10 years. Students were loud, home stands nearly full.

If players and coaches can focus and prepare every week like they did this past week it ought to be a great season!

I graduated in 1998 play football there in 1998 my brother played for the first football that page ever had we both still have our jerseys our blue on our jerseys is not a turquoise looking blue it is too light are blue is a darker blue almost royal blue my nephew played in 2004 thru 2008. Darker blue .my sister played basketball 85 through 89 darker blue I know my history of page high school probably more than the principal does .

I am sorry to hear that you actually graduated from Page because I hold it in such high regard for it's academics. Apparently, your reading comprehension is not what it should be. First, I never said anything about the principal, she has only been there 10 years she wouldn't know anyway. That would be administration. I said faculty, and that faculty that I was referring to is still teaching there. The alumni I spoke to played on '78 team and took him at his word about the jersey color.

I never said when the jersey color was changed only when the helmet color was changed and who changed it. I know for a fact that that blue was still being used on the helmets when Jackie Benett was there. I have seen the pictures in Ringstaff. You should know that cause if you graduated in '98 then you played for him.

The blue that was retired this year was royal blue. Turquoise is actually a blue/green color. You might need to get your eyes checked. Anyway it doesn't matter, like I said I don't think they are going back anytime soon.

Anyway, we ought to be talking about how great the upset win was on Friday night and how good the boys played. That is all that matters anyway!

According to a friend who played for one of Page's first football teams in the late 70's, the new blue jerseys are the original "Page blue.". This has been confirmed by several alumni and faculty who were there around that time. The new head Coach wanted to get back to Page's original school colors. That same blue was used on the helmets from the time the school opened until Alvin Palmer changed it around 2000.

Sorry to say you probably won't see the red jerseys again anytime soon. They did look really good but they were a special edition made just for that game and the American Heart Association fund raiser.

Might want to get used to the new Page blue or the original Page blue because it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

I guess Centennial has no football fans. Every time there is an enthusiastic post or reply by a Centennial faithful they are accused of being a certain on staff coach. Oh yeh, congratulations on knowing your kid is yours.

Around the last week of school the Page baseball head coach and one of his assistants were quickly and quietly forced to resign. Tryouts had to be rescheduled. So who will pick up the ball at Page?

Wilson just picked off a long Cobb pass that was intended for Baker and then he returned it around the GC 20. 35-21 with 3:04 to go

Sounds like Giles left it all on the field just like we all knew they would.

Page is unpredictable.....but the Patriots will stop the run so White House better have a passing game.

 

In a normal high school football game there usually 100-115 plays run. Last week the officiating crew threw over 30 flags...........now that is ridiculous. The last quarter there was confusion on the field as there were no "yellow" flags just green ones from the grass stain. Two of the refs are having rotator cuff surgery next week on their arms from flagrant overuse.

I am an ex fan because of the coach. I have lived in Fairview my entire life (over 50 years). I know him very well. Most people only see him on the football field but I know the real person that he is.

Three keys to beating Fairview. Stop the jet sweep, stop the reverse and don't kick the ball to Moore. IF you can do these things Fairview will go into panic mode. They know with their O-line and running backs, moore and franklin are wr's, they can't win in a power game. Giles Co. is the only team in the last two regular seasons to figure this out.

So why are you an X Fairview fan? Or are you just a fan of another school who is going to start bashing the jackets? Please explain.

Maybe Lexington isn't as good as everyone thought??? Have you seen them play??? As for the loss to page, I'm not gonna argue with someone that has no knowledge of the game. Marshall gave it to them....but did it matter in the end? No.....playoff run continues.

What about Giles? What kind of O or D do they run? All I have ever heard about Giles is that it is a great place to deer hunt. Got to love that. Must be a great place. I will tell you this. That wing T Brainerd runs is no joke. They run it well.

One thing. IMO Cobb is the best quarterback in 12AA bar none and I watched em all, some more than once. As most would agree the team with the better quarterback in high school usually wins. I feel for you. Good luck anyway!

Personally I feel like this one could go either way. Much respect for the FV team, and all of 12AA for that matter(excluding MC). I kinda hate to meet up with FV so early, I would like to seen all the 12AA teams go much deeper before having to meet. This will be the end of the road for one of these teams. LC28 FV14

Gotta be proud of all the teams in this district that made it past the first round even your most bitter rivals, including Marshall County. Just shows how really tough this district is.

Just another example of the youger generation is soft and a bunch of p******! Yea, thats right! Every parent trying to be thier childs best friend and not their parent! If I never did what the Coach said, or even suggested he was wrong my Dad would have kicked my A**! He would have done it on the sidelines in front of the whole crowd, and you can bet I deserved it! My son was demoted from QB his senior year, and my exact words to him was that if want to know why, you talk to the coach because I'm going to respect his decision, you are the one that has to be a man and team leader about it! If you don't let them fall on their face, then they will not be able to cope with real life when it happens later on!

Out coached??? #3 is the horse and he wants the ball!! Page didn't and couldn't stop #3 all night if he keeps his feet he scores on three long runs and maybe two more. So I guess Mc should have not ran it and started throwing it all over the field???

Unfortunately, ifs and and buts don't put points on the board. Coaching is always a determining factor in a close game. Coaching and want to, Page obviously had both of these on Friday night.

I thought Hickman County played Page this week..........you know "a REAL FOOTBALL TEAM" and not "the Lyles Losers"

That is correct. Hickman plays Page and East Hickman is off this week.

Great game both teams. That win is great for the GC kids, they have been thru a lot of adversity with all of the injuries this year. Good job to the coaches for preparing them.

 

Fairview is a very good team and overall a class team, but the Fairview administration needs to take the PA microphone out of Simpson's hands. He is a NO class dirtbag. GC's #23 slipped and fell and the announcer makes a comment that #23 was tackled by #23 and actually called the kids name out. Same way when the punter had a bad punt on a delayed running punt around the outside. He made many other crap comments about GC plays and players. The worst is yelling for the Fairview fans to get up after the referee winds the clock and the GC quarterback is in his cadence. It is illegal for him to announce while the opponent QB is in cadence, 1st time a warning, 2nd time it's an unsportsmanlike penalty against the Fairview coach. Do what is right and get that NO class individual under control.g

Ditto!!! No PA announcer should ever affect a football game in a negative way. This guy is nothing but white trash! Sad for Fairview that this clown taints their whole football program. The fact that he is even mentioned on here says everything.

Wake up Fairview, find someone who can show some class and good sportsmanship to the visiting teams. This guy is out of control and needs to go now!
