  1. Where have you been?? I hear you are spending most of your time now preparing for your up-coming wrestling against Josh(Big Boss Man) Keltner. I hear Keltner is down to a trim 260 and running the 40 in 4.9 flat. As for you Buster(The Bear) wink wink, please continue to post and stay in touch.
  2. The legends once again played last night adding two more players to there roster. Big Game David James and the O.D.B.(LITTLE J).The star of stars last night was no doubt Coach Cox, he nailed 3 after 3. When not open from 3 he would drive and create his own shot. He was truely unstoppable last night. Jonah Keltner's hot hand continued draining numerous 3's. T-Mac(in the joggers) dominated the last 2 games. He hit 4 three's in a row at one point in game 5. He even crossed the lane and did the ole running hook in Josh Keltner's eye. O.D.B. was also impressive in his first game back. Big Game dominated the inside after joining his team in game 2. He hit his open shots and pulled down a lot of rebounds. The only question left for Big Game is will he continue to play with the legends, they would be glad to have him.
  3. Thanks for the responses , now I can prove some more points. Snapracin you say the reason Ward's numbers are down so much is because he is surrounded by great players....don't you think in college(if he goes) he'll be surrounded by even greater players(what will the excuse be then)?? But if you believe he is gonna play college ball then you probably think ole Collinwood is better than some college teams also, (both are lousy). And I have contacted some colleges and talked about recruits and his name never seems to be brought up. Maybe I should try Motlow St. or Columbia St., because the only way he'll see UT or Nebraska is on channel 5. And Frito...Gee I wonder who you are, maybe a relative/brother. Let's look at Mr.Football(backs) canidates pictures over the past 10 years in A. I did, you know how many went on to play college ball out of 30?? I'll give you a hint, under 5. Let's Go Huntland!!
  4. That's the funniest post I've ever read!! Same place/time tonight.
  5. This will not even be a close game, nor will any of Collinwoods games until the 2nd round of the playoffs. But to the more important issue. I can't believe how overrated Collinwoods QB Johnny Ward is. I have seen this young man play two games this year and he hasn't lived up to all the hype I've been hearing. It seems to me last year was his best year and there is only one place to go after you peak....down, or so it seems. Sure Collinwood fans will get mad but just compare his numbers/and competition level to the elite quaterbacks in the state. There is no comparison!!! Heck I could throw for 300yds/ 3TD and rush 150yds/2TD'S against a Moore County and I just had back surgery.
  6. The legends hit the court last night in an exhibition for the first time in three months. The Legends West which consisted of Lawson,Cox,Keltner, and Larry defeated the Legends East which consisted of Jonah K., Trav , and Andy Lawson. The series went to game 7 where the West won a nailbiter. Larry Rodgers(JORDAN) made his return to the court after a three month layoff due to ankle surgery. He played only in the first three games and showed signs that he could return to MVP form. Larry had this to say.."I tested the ankle tonight and it felt very good, I made some hard cuts and the ankle held up. My shot was on tonight and I look foward to our next game." Travis Mckissack also made his return from an ACL tear that occured during an offseason taping of roller-durby. He played well last night and told reporters this morning he loves the game of basketball and plans to play 20 more years. His three was on last night but a charge late in game 4 cost his team . The crowd chanted for the running hook all night but only saw it once. Jonah Keltner couldn't be stopped from the 3 point line last night hitting 83% of the time. Coach Cox led his team in rebounds, assists, and jabs at Travis's ribs last night. His strong drives to the basket led to quite a few points , and his mid-range jumper was falling. Evan Lawson was also on fire from 3-point land hitting over 65% from the field. Andy Lawson had a lot of rebounds but seemed timid at times and passed on the open shots. The legend Hugh Smith was absent from last night's game but plans on returning soon. Coach Smith was reported this morning asking Coach Rodgers where the game ball from last night was. Rodgers thought and then explained that the ball was still lodged in the wall from where little brother Josh Keltner blocked big brother Jonah Keltner. Hope to see all legends at the next game!
  7. Lewis County High School announced this week former player/student Mr.Jonah Keltner will be the new tennis coach this season.
  8. How are the Middle School Eagles gonna do this year. I've heard they are the best middle school team in Lawrence Co. this year, and favorite to win state. I also hear they had an 8th grader move in that could start for the high school team. Go Wildcats!! [Edited by Knight on 10-3-02 8:07A]
  9. The post was a great one fadeaway, but I do believe you overlooked one Legend. Larry "Roy" Rodgers had many spectacular years at both the old and new courts. His ability to lead a team of "no-ones" to a court title was unmatched. Anyone that can take Lit'l Jerry , Duval , and Choker and win 6 in a row deserves to be mentioned with the greats. Larry could shoot, pass and play amazing defense. Larry would be sometimes overmatched a foot and 100lbs but still keep his opponent in check. "The best da** white boy I've ever seen play", quoted former teammate Kenny McGill. Larry has been quoted as saying he feels he still has a couple of more years of competitive ball left in him. He has missed the past two seasons recovering from major ankle surgery. Larry's play at the court reminds many of the legendary Isaiah Thomas/Gary Payton.
  10. There was more great action at the courts yesterday! Many players honored Trav by banking in jumper after jumper. I even saw the jump hook off the glass once and then heard "That's for you Travis". Biggest mistake of the day..Letting Evan Lawson go to the second round in the picks. After getting drafted lower than he should have Evan torched the team that overlooked him and led his team to 3 consecutive victories. Only after Evan left did his team lose 4 straight. All of the young guns showed up and played very well. But the team winning team of four straight(Mendez,Keltner,Keltner,Tim) suprised all with a shutout victory in the sixth game. Evan,Creasy,Lavett,Melton and Sparkman were the other players present. Sparkman added some excitment to the fifth game when he broke away and hammered one down.(first dunk in a game at the park since Price)! Great games guys, I had fun.
  11. There will never ever, ever be another Travis Mckissack!! Travis perfected the game. He could hit the running hook and then drain a three in your eye on the next play and chuckle all the way down the court. I've asked some of his former teammates and friends to make comments about Travis and I have decided to post them after such an overwhelming response. Terry Shipp- Trav was a great post/wing player. But he could never kick a ball like me! Little Jerry- I guess he ok, but he lacks respect for my game. Together we would dominate dogg. Coach Grinder- Trav revolutionized the post postion and I'll take him coon hunting anytime. Coach Smith- I'd take Trav on my team anyday. His hook was only matched by Jabar. Richard Duval- thwat, why he leave, can i play? Jonah Keltner-Trav made the courts what they are today, he will be missed greatly. Josh Keltner- He taught me so much....saying goodbye will be hard. Bobby Young-He stunk, I'm great......ok he was good. Truck Driver Bob(green sweatpants)- Now maybe Trav will ride out west in my 18wheeler with me since he has retired. HAHAHA,I just hope we don't jackknife when caibu run in front of us on hwy99 in Arizona. Galen Johnson-pivot pivot, he prefected the move.Maybe he could join my camp staff now. Goodbye, The Legend of You Will Live ON!
  12. HOHENWALD, TN--Travis Mckissack retired Tuesday without doing the one thing he came to Memorial Park to do. Hang a championship banner from the Parks fence. With Travis, it was always something. Terry Shipp got in the way. Drew Robinson got in the way. Even a teammate, Little Jerry Rodgers, once got in the way. But when you examine Travis's 15 seasons in Hohenwald, there was always something missing: Another elite player to help Travis complete his mission. "When you look at Travis's teams in Hohenwald, he never really had that great player to work with,'' Middle School coach Hugh Smith said last spring. "I know, because I was his teammate and I know the kind of talent we had at the courts. ''A lot of good talent. But other than Travis, no great talent. And that translated into no titles. As Coach Grinder later said, "I thought he was going to win us a lot of titles.'' But Travis failed to deliver one, which die-hard Memorial Park fans never have forgotten. Some never have forgiven Travis for that glaring hole in his Hall of Fame resume, which might be taking things too far. Later in his career, after he shattered his right knee, and he never was the same. "He's certainly in the top five,'' the great Howard Spears once said when asked where Travis ranks in Court's history. For all his great shooting and a marvelous outside touch rarely seen from a post player, Travis never won a scoring title. For all his dominance, he never won the MVP. He made the All-Star Game 11 times, but the first-team All-Courts team just once. "You could not have done more for a ballpark.'' Coach Eugene Grinder said about his favorite park player. "Unfortunately, he didn't win a championship. But he conducted himself like a champion and put more into trying to win a championship than anyone else." [Edited by Knight on 9-18-02 9:06A]
  13. Good point BoredGuy, Parsons looked very impressive tonight.
  14. Lewis Co. played a hard fought game. I believe both teams have a ton of talent but Parsons came out on top tonight. Lewis made a bunch of mistakes which makes you wonder if there heads were in the right place. I believe Lewis County will bounce back from this defeat and finish the year very strong. What dosen't kill you only makes you stronger. Ignore all the negative post and head for the State guys.
  15. I agree 100% with the post by panther26 and meanjeanjr, why don't you(thetruth) just mind your own business and let legends and youngsters alike enjoy the courts and coacht!
  16. Meanjean...Your stupid poll means nothing, remember you picked LC-8 Mt.PLeasant-7 when it turned out to be 61-0. Your pick means nothing, your a disgrace to high school football!
  17. Yeah Meanjean...kinda like LC-8 Mt.Pleasant-7, when it was 61-0. Your predictions mean nothing.
  18. News today is that Billy James and Rambo have moved to the front in the LCMS hunt for replacing coach duavl. Howard Spears(chairman) said that Rambo brought a lot of talents with him, including his workout program(RAMBONICS). Spears stated that Rambo reminds him of his former player Keltner in his hard work and dedication to lifting weights. Being removed from the list after one day of talks was Little Jerry(ODB). Assistant coach Rodgers had this to say about Jerry. " Jerry is a great coach and could have brought alot to this program but last year when he helped I found myself confusing Little Jerry with a lot of the players.(note:It is rumored Little J played 2 min in the Perry Co. game until Coach Smith realized the mistake Coach Rodgers had made). Also Travis (T-Mac) McKissack has been brought in contract talks along with Chris Edgerton.
  19. Reports from Rockhouse Rd. are coming in like crazy! Richard J. Duval II was shocked and hurt today when he heard that the possible contract extension talks between him and the LCMS staff had been broken off. Duval was a 2 yr. assistant coach/bus driver with the mighty Running Raiders. When we contacted Richard he had this to say........"WHAT, I not a coach anymore, I tant believe it" Talks now to replace the highly motovational coach will continue today for LC. LCMS now seems to be spending more time/money trying to persuade former LCMS star O.D.B.(Little Jerry Brown) to take the job. Howie Spears is rumored to be in talks with Richard Duval II about a possible coaching position on his soon to be staff. More to come.
  20. As speculation over Keltner accepting the coaching job grows his longtime coach and friend Howie Spears has called a press conference for 12:10pm to announce his once all-star players decision. "The conference will ne held via coacht". A source close to Keltner had this to say, "Keltner is honored to be considered for the position at LCMS".
  21. Today was the best day at the courts in a very long time. Was it because we played 4 on 4 all day, no. Actually we only had 5 players and played 36. But 3 of the other 4 players are no less than legends with the fourth being a young superstar. There was no arguing, cussing, or fighting just basketball. Evan Lawson, Jonah Keltner,Travis Mckissack and Jon Lavett. Evan drove and made some awesome shots, Jonah hit the jumpers and used the old arm grab to get rebounds and Lavett used his speed, jumping ability, and quickness to dominate the older guys. But the real story was 36yr old swingman Travis Mckissack. Travis has returned from an injury that ended his season last year. Many of the top doctors at Vanderbilt said Trav would never walk without a limp again must less play ball. But despite all odds Travis began his 24th memorial park season today. He still has the bank shot and running hook and showed he still had game.
  22. I believe this years team has potential to be a good team. Curfman will be very strong inside.
  23. Those truely are some great teams you named. But I'd have to go with the 95' team.Duncan,Rainy,Conner,Webster,Lay,Leigh,Runions,Tanner, Clifton,Cotham,Harlow, and Elliot and many more made this team great. No defense since them has been better.
