And will get smacked around for the next 2 years. Dilfer did all of this to that school. From the way he acted, the way he treated other TN HS programs, his absurd ego and now moving them up to DII-AAA and heading out the door leaving them high and dry. The ones that will be hurt the most by all of this will be the LA lifers that will stay and play. All those 3 and 4 stars flying out the back door will suffer none of the consequences that are coming the next 2 years.

Have any players actually left the program yet or is all this just speculation?

I can understand why fans are on the field if there's a sellout crowd. However, I don't understand why there are fans on the field when there are "empty seats" on the bleachers. If you look at the video that Stephen Hargis posted on Twitter, you can clearly see there were "empty seats" on the bleachers. That video appeared to be a good video to used as evidence or clarification. Unfortunately, the video is basically useless because there was a fan on the sideline when he/she should be in the bleachers.

I also don't think the runner stepped out. There's a video at the deep side of the end zone, and if you paused the video and can zoom in, I can some green between the receivers cleat and the sideline.

I'm actually convinced he didn't get in. 1) the receiver didn't extended the football.  2) he was drifting out of bounds. 3) he did hit the pylon. Sadly, it appeared hit the pylon with his left shoulder and not with the football. 4) It also appeared that the receiver rolled into the end zone, and I can see if his knee was down prior to his left shoulder hit the pylon.

Throughout all the videos and pictures, I don't see anything convincing me that it was a touchdown. Kudos to the official on what looks like is the right call, and not listening to any of the fans yelling "Touchdown" in his ear trying to persuade the guy to change his call.

The ball doesn’t have to go inside the pylon, it just has to cross the plain before the runner is down or a part of him touches out of bounds.  I saw a view from the middle of the end zone that makes it definitely look like a TD, but who knows.

  3. How does CPA benefit from playing up?  Why are teams seen as cowards for playing in the classification they are supposed to?  I never understand these arguments.  If teams choose to play up because they think they can compete, great.  It doesn't mean teams that do not move up should be looked down on or that their accomplishments do not matter.  I think most of the time these arguments come from teams that are tired of losing to them and want them out of their division.

It’s funny and sad to a degree to see these salaries thrown out for some of these schools. Looking at several of these schools, their tuition is 4 times what Catholic charges. That makes it a little easier to pay those salaries. When you’re losing the focus on education and teacher pay at the expense of paying coaches 2 or 3 times (or more) what the teachers make for teaching minimal to 0 classes, I have a problem.

How many students does Catholic have?

trying to schedule A game or a couple games verses not playin at all because of some hyped up zombie virus is not the equal, nor a decent comparison to being scheduled to travel 2, 3, 4 or 5 hrs to get thumped for the 10th time in 11 weeks in a contest for an untainible gold ball with 1 seasonal win and/or 0 region wins in your backpack.....all to appease T$$AA numbers

....a ride on a unicorn is in your future, if you think more than only an amount of young kids that be counted on one hand are still motivated to sit in a room for an hour to watch game film each day,  then go out to practice another 2 -3 hours each day.... after being pummeled for 9 or 10 weeks

....sure their ready to have another one of those bus rides back home.....only this time its 3 x further than that last bus ride

.....thinkin this ant no tizzy time for most....Booger thinkin its reality

    Booger just sayin

I could be wrong, but if it's about weather the kids want to play that extra game or not, I would guess most of them do.  Unless, they have a coach they hate or something.

Are the playoff rules still the following:  The T$$AA receives 50% of all gate revenue, the home school receives 25% of gate receipts, all of the concession revenue and parking monies but they must pay the officials & the visiting school receives 25% of the gate revenue but they must pay for all of their travel expenses which includes the busses and meals?

I believe so, but could be wrong.

  7. Not that I disagree with this sentiment.  However, I do find it ironic that during covid people were doing everything they could to find games for kids to play in but when it comes to the playoffs we get in a tizzy over the kids getting to play in one more (half of the teams) 2 more games.  And its not like the TSSAA gets all of the gate from these games both teams get some of it.  That may not be enough to offset travel, but it is something.  If the TSSAA getting the money is the complaint, I would say the bigger argument comes with the streaming service, that could possibly keep the attendance down, and the schools do not get any of that money.  At least that's what I have heard.

How about two classes in D2 based on the amount financial aid you spend on sports?  However there is always the possibility that schools could fudge money numbers to play in a different classification. I made the trip to Lipscomb to watch them play Catholic  and I was amazed by their facilities. What I assumed was a gym was an indoor practice facility.  Impressive.

I think this would cause problems.  Only way to say the amount of financial aid spent on sports would be to add up the total given to all athletes.  If it was total then it could hurt the bigger schools that have more students that participate in other sports.   If you did it by average given to student athlete, would it make it less likely for certain students to get financial aid if they weren't a star in a sport.  Would it make it harder for girls to get financial aid?  If you only did it based on football again would it make it harder for a kid that wants to attend school there, can only do it with financial aid, but will never be a starter?  I don't know if there is a better way to do it than numbers.

  9. Looks to me like these are the playoff standings without any major upsets this week.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have heard all about the poor coaching from friends and former FR football coaches.  The problem that I have with firing the coach/coaching staff is that alone does not change the culture.  The Board of Trust and administration must make a serious commitment to not only football but athletics as a whole or they will never win on a consistent basis.  The only two male sports that win within D2AAA are mens soccer and wrestling.  Both of those sports are coached by people that would be considered “old school” coaches from Elliston Place.

We read this from you all the time, but what commitment do you think they are not making?  They have great facilities(weight room and stadium), a middle school program now, have an athletic block, have great fan support, and from what I've heard are giving considerably more financial aid.  What more do you want them to do?

I talked to a FRHS alum/past parent yesterday who was there Friday night. Have no idea if any of this is accurate, but this was his assessment of things.  He said the school was pretty much full with Catholic families. He said there is virtually no capacity to admit non-Catholics, and zero chance to get non-Catholics financial aid, because of course Catholics have to be given priority no matter what. He said JP2 isn’t faced with same constraint and has a lot more freedom to recruit and admit non-Catholics. So according to him, the Nashville Catholic team playing in 7th -8th grade can identify really good non-Catholic players that the coaches want to push to FRHS but they can’t get them into school.  So he said believe it or not, if this 3rd Catholic school opens in Nolensville it would actually help FRHS athletics.   I will leave this to you guys to confirm/deny that.

A quick Google search said the school had 895 students.  I’m not sure if that is correct but They have had more than that in the past.

That’s an easy problem to solve. From the Beech area to Williamson, Rutherford or Dickson County solve the 20 mile rules.  Most just rent an apartment that is 20 miles away. My personal opinion is that Texas high school football is much better than Tennessee which will allow the young man to develop his skills.

I think the rule is the schools are 20 miles apart.  Not that you move 20 miles.

Please explain the “illegitimate” way for those of us in the dark.

Well, for one, you are not allowed to approach or initiate a conversation with a kid without a previous relationship.  I'm not saying he is doing that, but it would be an example.

  14. We need to add a lineman category back to this award.  It makes no sense to me why they took it away and it is darn near impossible for a lineman to win it in the current setup.  Does anyone know why they stopped giving a lineman and a back award away?

If a team does not have a winning record within their region they should not participate in the playoffs

Again, I don't disagree.  I'm just saying your beef is with the schools that decided that, not the TSSAA.  There are plenty of other things to complain about the TSSAA though :)
