Coach Collins is the new assistant principal at Oakland. Riverdale's freshman program hasn't been that impressive the last two years. The end is near in my humble opinion.

You guys lost some good players and a very good defensive coordinator. It won't be your year. Sorry.

who are you hearing Hicklen from??? I keep being told that Coach Collins from Riverdale is coming over and will start at Oakland on January 3.

yep..........he said the private school league they're in is tougher than any 5A region in the state. He said public schools can't afford 6 figure salaries of top high school coachds. he also said that while he competed against public schools he didn't think it, BUT after the split occured he realized that the private schools have an advantage over public schools. kinda surprised me he said that!

The rumor was just a rumor..........I talked to Rick today. He was a finalist but wasn't picked. Oakland made a mistake on this one.

I appreciate the loyalty but WHY can't you accept the fact that not everyone looks at him as you do? Your vocabulary points to at least a minimum amount of common sense. Get over it! You obviously have played for him or paid for a son to play for him. Congratulations on the many championships your team won fair and square.

from what I was told, in Rutherford Co, you can't be a principal and coach......I guess not.

okay........some see a brash person as being confident, others see them as cocky. You see me as being jealous of Flatt, I see me as being critical of his techniques. Good luck to the new BA coach........don't get too settled in. We know what happened to the last one! haha

Hey Batts..........why are you calling me a "bitter man"? haha I'm not bitter at all, just saying that for the majority of his championships it was a unlevel playing field.

yes they are well coached and yes the average BA player is the same as the average player at any other school........BUT the superstars at BA that are not even from the Brentwood Community but drive in each day are better than the superstars on the local teams. That's my entire point of contention. He did a great job with what he had but in the early years against the Single A and Double A schools it was a mismatch of talent.

With the ringers on his team he could afford to be nice.......think of all of the years when his team from all over beat some little county team or a city school with legitimate athletes from their school with his band of recruits. His beligerence toward the TSSAA will cost all the schools for years as they repay all of his legal fees. His success from recruiting has split our schools into divisions that will never be united again. I'm sorry to disagree 2P, but I will not miss him.

not to my knowledge. I haven't talked to the McGowans since last Wed. I'll try to get in touch with them this week. There's only a couple of coaches at Oakland that it could be.

nah.......I don't count a Region 6 team as midstate. Anything west of Columbia is west!! haha
