Missing a couple of kids, but we should be ready to go. It'll be a few weeks before either are ready, they'll help when they return. Hopefully we'll have good fortune this season, injuries can really hamper a small school.
Pujo, who all have the Dawgs scrimmaged this preseason? A change in work schedule has really killed my Friday Night Light watching, but I'd love to keep up with Hampton this year. I've heard it could be a special one.
-
Too tough a district to turn it around in.
-
Lawd have mercy...
-
Message received, Pujo. That's disheartening to hear for the Unicoi folks.
-
Yep, sad but true for the Unicoi faithful. Got my story from a Unicoi parent. Cloudland should and will have a solid team ,but Unicoi should run over Cloudland like a mack truck. They only have about 5 kids to every 1 that Cloudland has.The parent was disgusted to say the LEAST. But it is what it is and hats off to the Highlanders for a strong showing..
Well we all know it doesn't matter how many players you have, it's how much fight they have in them. Numbers don't mean much when the Friday Night Lights are on. Nobody should be disgusted by that.

Can anyone elaborate for the folks who weren't there?
-
I would love to see this game. Someone should post updates.
I'm with you, Raider. I'll be watching the Owls.
-
Tonight's the night I either look like a genius or stick my foot in my mouth. Man I love living on the edge.
I wasn't even trying to, Biggy Smalls, but some things can't go unsaid. Hope Lisa is holding up okay. You heading to watch the Vols any the rest of the season?
-
I may watch that Dawg vs Highlander video every morning for a month!
-
I mean I can't be the only one who literally burst out laughing when they saw this link?!
-
No problems here. I think it's hilarious when parents or other amateurs try to make youth league sports seem more important or intense than they really are.
-
Did someone really just post a pee wee highlight film on a high school forum? That might be the most pathetic "Dad move" I've ever seen on here.

I've been to 2 betsy games and one south game. Betsy has a strong running game, probably best in the area. However, the games I've been to theyve tried to get better at passing at its been mediocre at best. Souths speed is more evident, imo, on defesnse. Betsy won't be able to throw a hitch to the trips and score, or get South to over pursue and have the qb keep it, so what will be their answer on 3rd and 8? South has better players at every position except RB. Betsy banks on thomas to bail them out A LOT. He won't be able to do it enough friday.
Interesting insight, SGHS. I haven't seen either this year, but I tend to think you may be on to something.
-
South by 10. I'm saying it now and running before this board gets UGLY.
-
Elizabethton by 21. North will have a solid gameplan to keep this from going to a running clock. Due respect to both teams.
-
You'll need 12. 11 didn't help East Hamilton
-
Is Elizabethton throwing the ball with any efficiency? You have to figure they'll play a team that can stop Thomas at some point.

Here it is. There is only one coach in our district who is good and thats Graham Clark and he has a history of brain farts in the players. All these other coaches don't have a clue. I've been telling you for years Stacey Carter is not the answer in Johnson City. And, it's not the players but the number of players. We simply can't compete year after year with the overall number of athletes to contend with. DB usually has two or three really quality players per year but the Middle Tn schools have 6 or 8. That's it. ROLL TRIBE
Number of actual quality players is an issue for NE TN. True.

You are blind and would rather not know the truth. The nfl is a coaches game-where all talent is equal, coaches matter the most. College football is more about the players. It's all about recruiting. High school football is about players. Jimmys and Joes not X's and O's. The biggest role high school coaches play is in discipline and and the offseason.
Murfreesboro, Nashville, and Chattanooga have better athletes than TE Tri-Cities area. That's why DB ad SH are winless against these schools this year. Coaching can't fix being physically inferior. Save your "heart" argument for your Pop Warner pregame speech, Daddies.

BigPoppaPump,
You are articulate and you couldn't be more correct. 100 years from now there will still be people who believe that all that's missing from bringing gold footballs back to East Tennessee is coaching. Unless you happen to have a classified bracket like Greeneville has had that basically allows you to play an opponent in the State Title game that you would normally play in the 2nd round, we're not winning one anytime soon.
Your comments about genetics were brilliant. Arguments against it are passionate and likely made because the people making them really believe them. However, facts and history are against them all.
Both couldn't be more right. Can't convince Daddies and Mommies that Johnny just isn't as good as Malik from Davidson Co. "It's got to be those dumb coaches... If only they'd have called more GA's at Emory and Henry, my boy would be as relevant as that Hurd kid at Beech."

Suppose to X-ray Casey's foot today. Hope it ain't broken. ROLL TRIBE
Any update on the injury?
Anyone else hurt?
-
Who's out for DB?
-
You don't have to be an athlete to be good at baseball. Or strong. Or particularly fast.
-
#1 for the hurricanes is amazing and a stud! racked up at leat 15 TACKles!! and he was the only one who had answers for #3 Pittbull!!! how come #1 isn't already offered??? he is a hoss! one if the best Db's in the district maybe the area along with #21 for the canes as well! anyone agree?
Im not sure I'd be bragging about a DB leading in tackles- especially against a guy who rushed for 250+ yards and 2 TDs. You're not going to get #1 recruited hyping him up on the Owls / Canes board.

Pujo, anyway you could give us a list of teams or a run down of the tournament? I'm no longer involved in that area, but love to keep up with the local teams.
