  1. The guard from BGA. He seemed like a better player, better skills, just not 6'7. He lead BGA to 5 wins of FRA and a state championship this year. You put that guard in a 6'7 frame and he would be all American.

If the 2 guys played the same position, you might be able to compare them in that way.  But to compare a point guard to a post player doesn't really make much sense.

  2. Private school are all about boys sports, except the likes of Webb or CPA.  THE MAIN REASON THAT PARENTS SEND THEIR GIRLS TO PRIVATE SCHOOL IS TO KEEP THEM AWAY FROM ALL OF THOSE PUBLIC SCHOOL BOYS.

Ridiculous.  FRA has had one of the most successful female basketball stars in Tennessee history.  3 time Ms. Basketball winner/4 time nominee - Derica Wyatt.  smh!

  3. Has there been any discussion about possibly changing the format of Mr. Basketball to follow how KY does it?  They have 7 nominees state-wide and one is chosen as an overall winner.  In addition, only seniors are allowed to be nominated.

What are everyone's thoughts on that type of format?

  4. Is BGA pretty loaded?

When their shots fall, they are hard to beat.  Moran can hit 3s as smooth and consistently as anyone I've seen.  A couple others can knock down the 3 also.  Their inside guy, Cowie is a textbook fundamental big man - if you try to test him you will pay for it.  Plus they are loaded with seniors and the group has played together for several years.  Hard to combat against chemistry.

  5. Any thoughts on the 8 teams left?

    DCA

    FRA

    BGA

    Knox Web

    ECS

    St. George's

    Lausanne

    Harding

    Thoughts from East-Middle Regional Tournament:

I thought BGA would sail through but their shooters went cold the entire weekend.  If they decide to get hot again, as they have been most of the regular season, watch out.  They will be tough to beat and would have crushed Knox Webb in the Regional Championship game.

Knox Webb has a good team and can run the floor.  Very scrappy.  But with just a couple of shooters and no true post player, they might be easy to match up with for most well-rounded teams.

FRA took a hard hit when their high scorer went down with a season-ending injury just prior to the Regional tournament.  However if you underestimate their post play and the heart of their guards you will be sorry.  FRA is no stranger to post-season play so they may be ready to upset some folks.

DCA is made up of a bunch of warriors - hard workers on both ends of the court.  Their conditioning will serve them well since they don't have much depth at all.  Their starting 5 must carry the load.  However, if you give their high scorer a sliver of daylight, he will knock down big shots consistently.

Good luck to all going forward!

  6. For your consideration for Mr. Basketball for DII-A, I would like to suggest Rob Marberry.  Here are a few points about Rob:

    • Rob Marberry 6'7" 225 lb PF/C for Franklin Road Academy
    • D1 College (WKU) basketball commit (only D1 commit so far in DII-A, I believe)
    • 2013-14 McDonalds All American Nominee (only one in DII-A - only 26 players named from TN)
    • Named All DII-A District MVP last year
    • Named All DII-A Region Tournament Team the last 2 years
    • Named All DII-A District Tournament Team last year
    • Named MVP of Marlin Classic Christmas Tournament in Panama City last year
    • 3 year member of the Travelers Nike EYBL team which qualified to play this past summer in the prestigious Peach Jam tournament
    • Currently has to date in high school career: 1414 points total, 66% FG percentage, 831 rebounds and 306 blocks
    • Current season:  376 points, 215 rebounds and 66 blocks
    • ALL PLAYING AN AVERAGE OF ONLY ABOUT 2.75 QUARTERS PER GAME!

    Thank you for your consideration!
