Yes we have a great history with 4 gold balls and 5 silver. I agree the natives are restless and want results. There is a TON of talent and athletic ability on this year’s team and we simply looked poorly coached this past week. However Peabody is a machine this year and will win another gold ball. They will make most teams they play look that way. Teddy is a top notch person and loves all of the players and bleeds purple. Over 30 years in the program as a player and coach. But he is definitely on the hot seat   We shall see what happens.

best of luck...my buddy over in big city McKenzie....lol...keeps me up to date on all things Bulldog and Rebel...he went to both schools and was on one of the milan teams that lost to alcoa in the title game back in either 08 or 09.....i dont think he was a starter, but was on the team....His dad he says was a prominent player in getting the field house i beleive built.

I’m confused. How are you 7-0 vs the top 10 and 5-0 vs the top 4 only 1 game into the season?  If you are talking about last year what does that have to do with this year??

you are correct sir. the last two seasons have squat to do with this year, i was merely pointing out what our boys have done vs some of the top ten the  last couple years. BTW, i was in Milan last week and got to see your stadium and your quaint little village there in west tenn. Im curious as to your thoughts on your coach. From what i gathered in my brief stay there, the natives might be a bit restless and coach pettigrews neck might be resting firmly on the ole choppin block if he doesnt produce quickly. I hear you bulldogs arent very fond of losing and boast quite an impressive history and like us, can boast 4 gold balls....any truth to any of that??

Wrong. That was the best time to lose a game.If anything,it should pizz a few of the players off and make them work harder.

i would hate to be a blazer this friday. between the lack of respect in the current ap poll (which should be pointed out, that respect is earned not given and this particular group of Devils, with the exception of about 4 or 5 of them, have not earned a thing yet, so i'm actually fine with the poll) and all the awful penalties and sloppiness that will most certainly be addressed in practice this week, Those poor blazers are in for a reckoning the likes of which i wouldnt want to be on the receiving end of.

    Division I - Class 4A

    Record Pts

    1. Haywood County (4) 1-0 126

    2. Anderson County (6) 1-0 104

    3. Greeneville (4) 0-1 96

    4. Elizabethton (1) 1-0 94

    5. Dyersburg 1-0 75

    6. Jackson North Side 0-1 51

    7. Maplewood 0-1 44

    8. Springfield 0-1 38

    9. East Hamilton 1-0 33

    10. Hardin County 0-1 30

Others receiving 12 or more points: Nolensville 26. Crockett County 22. Jackson South Side 20. Marshall County 20.

Greene Devils 7-0 vs the top ten head to head....including 5-0 vs the top 4...but it's all good boys, let's see what the poll looks like about a week or so into december. I hope AC enjoys their brief stay above the Greene team. that will change after this fridays beat down.

No it's not. But it's plenty enough for who I'm dealing with. And plus, it's true. Hard to argue with truth.

i dont generally get in on these pissin contests if i can help it, but i think i'll give it the best "stream" i can in this one....i think you and D'man both have some valid points. It all depends on how you look at things vs how things are perceived. In the historical realm, sure, DB has dominated our Devils. But you mention in a round about way " what have you done for me lately" and i dont really think last thursday and friday qualifies as a true " lately "....lately to me is the last few years...let's say just for numbers sakes, the last 3 years. (hehehe) Greeneville has clearly been heads and tails above DB "lately", seeing as last year we absolutely destroyed you. two years ago, different story. Yall took it to us in the first half and we had to rally to get the win. this offseason, for whatever reason, DB tapped out on us. Honestly, just looking at both teams most recent games and the head to head meaningless scrimmage, that MIGHT be a good thing for greeneville. But ultimately, greatness is in most eyes judged by trophies and i think we can all agree that that one is a no contest between the two. Greeneville is  a turnover away from being 5 for 5 in state title game, but they're not. they're 4 for 5, and for me, that looks waaaay better than  0 for life. One thing is a fact here ....BOTH schools can be very very proud of what they have accomplished in their history. DB...more over wins than us....GHS...more state titles. So, all that said, i think we can both be dam(n) proud...and i AM, even with our most recent setback.

If I were a fan or player of another 4A team watching the Devils last night,I'd probably be thinking a few things.First would be that I'd just watched a  beatable Greeneville team start to grow up in the very first game of the season.second thing is these Devils are not going to quit. The third thing is they are tough as hail and playing against them will be an all out war...As a former Devil linebacker,I couldn't be more proud of how tough Youngblood is at that position. He showed that even more when he took that big hit and got up last night.Anybody can dish it out but it takes a man to get hit that hard and bounce back up.I like this team and think if they stay healthy and continue to grow, they will be a load come playoff time.

i didnt think i would ever see blood get trucked like that and i imagine i will never see it again....well, atleast while he's wearing Greene. Once he puts on that purple next year, all bets are off for a few day....l0l

  7. im glad to see mavsinflight is happy...that nourishes my soul. Check back with us next saturday mavs ole buddy.....in other news.....i guess it's time to start a new streak now that that black cloud is no longer over the kids heads...OR devilmans.....hehehe...sorry Dman, i couldnt resist. i'll be consuming just as much......well, maybe not....crow as you will over this loss

Greeneville played extremely sloppy and undisciplined, as we all already know.  Here's the thing, there is PLENTY of time to correct all that AFTER the Boone game.     Seriously, let's keep the status quo until after next Friday.    :)

i'll be at practice monday and i'll convey this message to the team, although i can not guarantee that it will get through to them. They are pretty pissed off at themselves right now and most likely wont be listening to the fat guy with an absurd request

  9. 14 hours ago, WaCoJaCo said:

So far what I've got from this thread is that Greeneville lost to Powell but they didn't really lose even though that's what the scoreboard said, and that Boone won big over South but it was a lot closer than 30-6 even though that's what the scoreboard said.

lol......PRETTY GOOD ASSESSMENT I'D SAY...so here's mine....Greeneville lost but COULD have won but they didnt, even though they could have, but didnt, therefor, they could be undefeated right now but they aren't because they lost a game they very well could have won. Meanwhile, Boone must be really loaded since they killed a team they could have lost to, but didnt. Thusly, it should be pretty clear to everyone here that Greeneville will mercy rule boone, but maybe not, even though they should, but might possibly wont, although they are totally capable.

Should be a battle DevilMan.  I might be the only person on these boards that have seen both Powell and Greeneville in Pre-Season Scrimmages.  With Powell's starting running back out that can be the difference in the game.  Powell has a lot of starters back from a very solid team last year and could had made a run in the 5a play-offs if they didn't have to forfeit 6 games.  We better be able to cover the pass well because Powell returns a veteran QB (Has signed to play baseball at ETSU) and some very young but good wr.  We have to get some push on the line and pound the rock with Youngblood in my opinion to control the clock because Powell has the potential to score quick and often.  I see it as a 28 to 21 grind it out kind of game with the Greene Devil's pulling it out

count me in as agreeable with y0u here swipes. Greeneville will need much better Line play in this game than they've shown in all three scrimmages, but that's why greeneville gets tough teams to scrimmage them......to get better, NOT to score meaningless preseason scrimmage W's.....i got us winning this one on a late fourth quarter long td drive to hold off the panthers something like maybe 35-28 but honestly dont  know if the game will be that high scoring or not.....just gimme a dub and move on to game two and i'll be fat and happy....one of which i already have going for me

I thought everyone understood that DB let Greeneville win the last two games because their feelings were hurt from all the beat downs from past years. Plus Nice Wrong'er has spent a fortune in Greeneville and he needs to see a return on his hard earned money. Greeneville looks a little wobbly all of the sudden.

    two shay....ahem.....touche

  12. i thought everyone understood going in that greeneville was going to let DB win this scrimmage, so as to help the tribe rebuild their hurt egos and self images as a result of the last years thrashing and the season before when greeneville let the tribe push them around for a half, only to flip the switch and break their hearts in the second half  AND for bailing out on this years planned meeting.....man, some of you guys are really in need of some hand holding....lol

well brother, its looking like i wont be there. aunt Jeannie is in the wake forest baptist burn unit in winston salem nc and not doing well at all, so im gona be heading back over there either wed or thursday...right now, i  probably wont be at the scrimmage

And another thing. It's a shame that our coaches have always coached respect, character, and dignity into their player's and you, someone that lacks all of that is the mouth of the team..

man kevo.....this post really hurts.....i mean...i thought I WAS the mouth of the team.....no wait, i guess im the EYES of the team...lol

  15. i didnt read a stitch of this thread other than the title of it....i came straight here, to drop a bomb and rum.....if people want to see some talk about teams in Northeast Tennessee aside from Greeneville and Betsy, then maybe some of those teams might want to step up and give people a reason to be talking about them...other than " this team lost to greeneville, or that team dropped another one to betsy, or greeneville and betsy appear to be headed for their annual clash to see who's the king of N.E.T.....and so far, even THAT hasnt been much of a conversation either....what say you northeast tennessee football fans???

That is true. But thank God BVD is busy making all that money at least we do not have to worry about him. Lol BVD wear a Devils hat with a Big Orange T shirt how color uncoordinated can you be. Just doesn't match. Anyways go figure BVD and Devilman what a combination Greeneville has to deal with every year. They do not need just one mascot they have two. LOL :)

you darn tootin  mavs...if there's two bigger fans than myself and devilman, they need to step forward and grab the pitchfork with us...it's time to dig in and make room in the trophy case for number 5....as for "BVD making all that money:".......you must be talking about my aluminum can recycling prowess!

Not going to Argue that Shuffler is one of the fasted players to every come out of Greeneville.  The Difference between 2010 and 2011 is 2010 never lost a game so its hard to say that that the 2011 is the best team ever when they put up only 10 points against MW.  With BJ at RB in 2010 that freed up Shuffler to be the Leading Receiver and also get touches in the back field with a different Pace than BJ's Bruising running Style.  In My opinion Story was a better LB than Rollins (Just from an experience level and having 2 years of starting at MLB under his belt.)(This is coming from a 3 years starter at LB for Greeneville who knows both Chaz and Tyrus)  You also lost BJ at the OLB position and Willie at Safety off that 2010 team.  The 2011 team had more Players going both ways with the departure of the 2010 Starters.  If you line up the 2011 team and ran at the 2010 team you would basically be running at yourself except having Malone at DT, BJ at OLB, Chaz at MLB, and Willie at Safety. 2010 put up more points and gave up less points than the 2011 team did also. I would bet this year D would have something to say about no other team stopping Jamel.  Bear front with Everhart, Gillespie-Taylor, Shipley, Goddard, Seaton, Knight, or Greenway and having Hite and Albright Safety  (2 big body Safety that neither the 2010 or 2011 team had) and Youngblood and Kershaw at MLB's.  This year team in my opinion is the best team to ever wear the Greene and White with the combination of Size, Speed, and just plain Nastyness  when its comes to overall team

i was hoping you would weigh in on this  topic...oh and i betcha Tyrus would agree with you about Chaz too.  I think this team would mercy rule most any other team in the state at any classification......i said "Most" any other, so before someone on here throws maryville or oakland at me, remember that.....and yes, i think this team would mercy rule alcoa...just because i think alcoa would have no  hope of stopping this offense and i dont think alcoa's offense could say the same.....covington shut them down most of the game and i didnt think anyone would do that.

I'm glad this thread isn't about what Devil team, coach or player was the toughest .A whole bunch of us might have an argument on the team but none of us reading this would stand a chance at being the toughest Devil to ever play or coach the Devils. All of the old timers know who hands down would be the man.

Freddy Hale??:roflol: (yah i know he was a rebel, but it was STILL funny)

Frankie Debusk's Junior Senior teams were awesome at the skilled positions, but we were whipped up front. We started a 145lb. Wrestler at left guard and a 165 lb. left tackle who played reciever the year before.

Moon was a great HS qb, but we lacked other skilled players, but man did we have the linemen on bothsides of the ball. We were slow (not Moon).

During much of the great backs era we often did not have a great QB and we were hit and miss up front. But we won. Thank you Bill Svette, Hilton Jackson, Brigham Lyons, Story, and the Gillespies.

I will save some thoughts on a team that could have been ranked almost with this years squad a little bit later.

one kid from the 2010 team had a good argument on who would win between them and this team.....he made some very valid points, but im going with this team....too many great HS players to go along with a handful of potentially great college players
