  1. stacimots, no not a student of the game, have started and played many hs & ncaa games tho & know a little football. Know it enough to know JCM has been terrible. not disrespecting JCM football. The players & coaches that have been over there have disrespected JCM football. I also know East football. I know wayne randall who built east football and taught and coached wimberly everything he knows bout football. East has been mediocre lately. thought you were not talking about last year then you go & refer to east last year. Cause that's all we have to go on isn't that right. 2-8 is that respectable and the two wins against the worst two teams in HS football last year. the eight losses were mostly mercy rule run the clock blowouts. 12 yds a carry give him the ball score a TOUCHDOWN. Is charging admission to spring football permitted under tssaa? i hope JCM is respectable this fall. anyway my prediction.

    1. Lexington

    2. Chester County

    3. Liberty

All right!!! Now we getting somewhere. I knew I could get your panties in a wad!! LOL...dude you are not ready to trade barbs back and forth with me. I'll let the season do the talking, youngster.

  2. stacimot, I'm not talkin about the past now. I'm talkin bout last night's game. You said Clark averaged 12yds carry but why lose with only 6 points? As I pointed out let him carry 7 times from the 20. Score every series. How you average 12yds a carry but score only 6 points and lose? Answer: JCM. or is that 12 yards a carry(JCM)stats equivalent to a legit two yards a carry.

Again just messing with you stacimots, but you get the point. JCM district favorite.I'm a believer. You have convinced me. 2-8 why ya hate.

For real stacimot you gotta be laughing.

I see you really aren't a student of the game. First, Memphis East is a 5A team playing JCM a 3A team. However Memphis East is no cupcake as they made a deep run in the payoffs last year. So how they only score 6 points, let me school you more. You are playing a scrimmage game with a running clock, against a quality opponent. For real St. Benard you gotta be able to figure that out. Dude don't get me started, I can trash talk with the best of them. I see you can't be serious in your comments, exactly how old are you, cause you clowning like a teenager. You are disrespecting JCM and I don't see any humor in that.

  3. First of all I don't hate JCM at all. I do however hate the fact that some over there allowed a once prominent football powerhouse to crumble to ruins. And it has never been a lack of talent & players, only no direction, leadership, discipline, class , integrity, character or accountability.. Am I wrong. And I looked over at the 14aa posting, not in entirety but the last page and it appears others have the same observation as I have.

Back to my first posting, I may be wrong but I know without doubt that it used to be against the rules to charge for Spring football. It may have changed. I know if I was gonna do it I'd know. No football I've ever been involved with has ever charged in Spring and we actually have had rather large followings.

Secondly JCM doesn't bring a gate, they did years ago. And whether you know it or not JCM used to be a power and have a large fan base. Now they don't, isn't that correct.

Thirdly they have had players and still do but are they gettin destroyed on the W's & L's and scoreboard. Yes.

Like the guy on 14aa board said, JCM has won about 1 of every 20+ games the last several years and that is against the worst of the worst.

These are the facts, are they not?

Football, as well is more than on the field. It's teaching respect, class, dignity, integrity, character and the inherent qualities of citizenship & education. Is that not accurate?

You are still in the past, we are moving forward whether you believe it or not. These qualities you speak of respect, class, dignity, integrity, character and the inherent qualities of citizenship & education are qualities that are being practiced on a day to day basis in the program. Please at your availability come and see what's going on with the program and stop saying things as you think they are....see what is real.

  4. I see JCM's problem. Simple fix. It's right there plain to see. Clark averaged 12 yds a carry. JCM scored 6 pts. SOLUTION---Take a touchback. Take possession on the twenty. Give it to Clark 7 times. TOUCHDOWN!!! Seven play drive TOUCHDOWN!!! repeat... He also caught a lonng pass... use his 12 yds a carry at the end of the long catch, should only have to give it to him once on that drive..TOUCHDOWN...

JCM peaseason favorite... Fayette Ware much improved as well instead of gettin beat 75-0 with a running clock only 49-0, no where to go but up..Better bring in extra seating for when play these two teams as well, they bring a crowd.

I am just joking here guys. It is true tho.. however stacimot wont agree.

stacimot i am just playing tho and ribbing you..all in fun ..just spell checkin your facts...

    Hope JCM is back....

Once again you are talking about the past. Please hop in your time machine and join me in the present. Care less about the past, what will you never ever see again.....(answer)today...get the point?

  5. Dude are you in a dream world. You guys won 2 games last year. One against an 0-10 team that hasn't won in several years and the other verse a 1-9 team that was the worst team in that school's history & their only win was against the same 0-10 team you guys beat. Would you like to review(refresh)the scores by which you guys were destroyed. They were unbelievable blow running clock blowouts. Give the facts of the blowout scores. One of those two or both will beat you this yr. Lately, how much more lately do you need. And yall gon win the state this year though right?

Evidently, as I said earlier get all the facts. I acknowledged all what you just said in my first post on 14aa post. That was last year though, key word last year. For people and teams to better themselves they must rise from adversities of the past not remain. You for some reason are taking a dislike to JC M for no reason. Wait does StBentley translate to St. Benedict? Yeah the took their lumps and bruises last year, but if you followed them you would know they could have easily been .500 with a team of mostly Sophomores and Freshmen starting, but was last year. Why am I wasting my time explaining this to a novice of the game, that just replies off the top of his head.....beats me. There main problem was defense, they could score on everyone. Well, Mr. Hatorade good luck to your team on this season.

  6. Only 35 posts young and talking trash with the best. There is not a classier forum in the state than 14AA.

Great showing tonight by the Cougars against 5A Power Memphis East . Came down to the last play of the game, East stopped JCM by a yard to escape with a 12-6 viictory. Clark averaged 12 yards a carry and caught a deep ball to put JCM in position to score at the end. Memphis East has 7 college prospects on the team. Region 14AA will be interesting this year with JCM being back to challenge even though they are a 3A team.

  7. Article says admission to JCM-East Spring game is $5. I thought it was against TSSAA rules to charge admission to spring practice game. I know it won't matter, these two schools don't even have a following during the regular season. Who would pay to see them in Spring. They don't bring 50 people in the fall. Punish the one or two that come I suppose. Wishful thinking on someone's part, much like their season.

Once again, someone that haven't been keeping up with JCM lately. The home side stands we're half full, not to bad for a spring game no one wanted to see, jokes on you. Get facts straight before you post. Thank you sirrrreeee bob!!!!

  8. harsh...so harsh, so early...

to be honest i dont think JCM has what it takes to compete "in this district"...remember that as you guys read this...district 14 is tough...very tough...no state titles...yes i understand...this is strictly a western TN convo...

if JCM actually got to play schools of its size they would be a .500 team...put them in district 13AA with gibson county, haywood, ripley, south gibson and crockett county...YES milan would destroy them...but they destroy everyone out west...and yes there are some pretty good 4A teams in that district...but i would gladly trade jcm and fayatte for covington and dyersburg

jcm is getting better...but its hard when you have 2 and last year 3 teams that were at some point and time ranked in the top 10 in 4A in ur district and ur a 3a school without a lot of players...

and even if they guy is a coach at jcm...so what...good for him for trying to make a difference to those kids...they need leadership and a strong father figure...

Wow!!! I'm starting to feel the football fever..season can't start soon enough. I hope both of you gentlemen can make it to the Spring game today at the "Rock" and see for yourself. Clark is a true D1 prospect and as far as them needing father figures about 87% have their father in their life, the average team GPA is over 3.0, yes indeed this is out of at least 60 players on the team. You have been out of touch with what's been going on as of late at JCM. All are facts, no time for hype.

  9. Liberty or JCM. are you serious???? JCM is a joke. has been and will be. They have won 4 games in five years. They wont beat any team other than Fayette Ware. Thats the problem at JCM, no realistic expectations. The statement they are back is funny!!! what makes them BACK? 2-8. How about they try and at least finish with a 500. record. Or make the 3A playoffs??? I can only assume you are a coach at JCM? How sad!!!!!

This article only back up why I'm predicting JCM to finish high in the region....I don't throw out wish lists, it's what I have seen and my knowledge of the game. Remember, you heard it here first. http://www.jacksonsun.com/article/20120503/SPORTS/305030018/HIGH-SCHOOL-FOOTBALL-Cougars-gaining-college-looks

I thought a person is entitled to his or her opinion. I respect other people opinion on here, you should respect mine. I am not a coach of Jcm, just a lover of West Tennessee Football. Please, calm down and express your opinions in a more professional way. Thanks my friend.

  11. Who will district 14-AA shake out in 2012?

    McNairy Central

    Fayette Ware

    Bolivar Central

    Lexington

    Jackson South Side

    Liberty Tech Magnet

    Jackson Central Merry

    Chester County

    1. Lexington(Big Red Machine is simply that...A Machine!)

    2. Liberty or JCM (yeah the Cougars are back, should be ready for 3A playoffs)(Liberty is always ready)

    3. Bolivar (solid with quality skills)

    4. Chester County(down a little with Phelps gone)

    5. Jackson Southside (not to sure about the coaching setup)

    6. McNairy(competitive)

    7. Fayette Ware(much improved though)

  12. It's always good for West Tennessee high school football to have the JCM Cougars competitive! Best of luck to them this upcoming season. Do they have a Spring scrimmage with anyone scheduled? How tall is Rodney Clark, Jr.? Hopefully he can perform as well in the classroom to ensure him a very bright future!

    They will scrimmage Memphis East

  13. I found this in an article from the Nashvillesports.net.

Does your Coaching Staff put any effort into getting kids to College? Or are the only worried about wins, losses and their legacy? I think Pearl-Cohn has done it the right way! What about your School?

Pearl-Cohn is City's Most Successful Football Program

Some high school football programs measure success by number of wins and championships, but at Nashville’s Pearl-Cohn High School, they have a different idea of success. Their goal is to get kids college scholarship money. By that standard, Pearl-Cohn is the most successful program in Nashville. This year’s NCAA national signing day saw Pearl-Cohn’s football program have 10 kids sign letters of intent with colleges or universities meaning they were getting scholarship money. Metro Nashville Public Schools had 19 students sign and over half played football at Pearl-Cohn. Pearl-Cohn has had over 70 players sign over the last 7 years.

Why is Pearl-Cohn so successful? Coach Tony Brunetti. Brunetti came on board at Pearl-Cohn in 2002, when he became an assistant coach under the legendary Maurice Fitzgerald. Brunetti became defensive coordinator the following year, and in 2006 was named Head Coach when Fitzgerald retired.

Fitzgerald had given Brunetti the power to handle the recruits, and Brunetti began to learn the ropes.

Brunetti said in an interview with SportsNashville.net, “I learned how to burn tape, to edit and cut. I began sending tapes, calling, talking, hustling, and building relationships.â€

When asked how important it is to him to get kids to college he said, “ I made a promise to myself that when I was in a position to help kids, I was going to help them. I’m going to do the extra work to find a way to get them to school.’

Recent SEMO signee Darrius Darden- Box agrees saying, “ Coach Brunetti did 75 -80% of the work to get me a scholarship.â€

Asked what is the key to his accomplishments, Brunetti said, “ It takes a lot of time and effort, and a lot of schools don’t have the time. When a kid comes to me as a freshman, I show them a plan, what it takes to get a scholarship. If they follow my plan, stay with me four years and don’t get in trouble, they will graduate. Even if they don’t get a scholarship, they’ll be ready to go to school.â€

Brunetti added, “There’s a lot more to this than X’s and O’s. I’m very involved, along with the guidance counselors. I look at their grades, I watch their schedules, make sure they’re taking the right classes. At Pearl-Cohn we work just as hard for the kid going to a small school as the one going to a D-I school. “The bottom line is you’re going to win and lose games, but I love seeing young men go to school.â€

Coach Martez Edwards of Jackson Central Merry embodies everything you just spoke of. He personally told me he would measure his success by how many seniors he sentd to college each year. A state championship would be nice, but how many young men will get the chance at a college degree because of athletic abilities? That is what makes great programs......Great Coaches.
